Didn't even know this new release existed. Came out in 2002? I think it's bloody brilliant. You know, when you see a pic of a Marshall head that says JH Experience on it nowayadays, you think its BS. Unless it's not. The thing I love about Hendrix is that noone gets EXACTLY what he was all about. I've loved rock my whole life, but the scope of his genius is beyond me. So when I saw this CD, to me it's like a new release, since I never had Isle of Wight material. I gotta say, the 20-plus minute version of Machine Gun is worth 20 times more than I bought this for. Just think if he was still alive. The thing about it is, I'm not a Hendrix freak. I just haven't heard anyone that plays like him. Here's the thing: when you're listening to, let's say "hey Joe", and the lead is okay, not fantastic, he was probably playing behind his back or with his teeth. Thank the rock and roll gods that music like this is still available. I've read books about him, but again noone really knows what REALLY happened to him. I'm not talking about his death, but about his musical breakthrough. He was clearly on another plane than anyone else, and I've tried without success to explain or even understand it. The Isle of Wight show was one of his last-can you think of the social impact he would have on today's debacle in the middle east? Guess what? Jimi through his music will always live, just like Philip Lynott of Thin Lizzy, a huge Hendrix fan. I haven't even listened to the entire 2-cds, to this day noone can play like that.Lire l'avis complet...
