A bloody good time.

When it comes to vampires in video games, you've got a few choices. You've got your Legacy of Kain series, Castlevania: Symphony of the night, and the b-lister of the group... Bloodrayne.

Don't get me wrong, just because it's a b-list game doesn't mean it's not fun. It's just not as fun as it could be. Those of you who are goth or vampires or whatever will love to play as Rayne.

Did I mention the protagonist of the game is named Rayne? And she likes to drink blood, hence Bloodrayne? Anyway, the game is actually pretty cool. Rayne can do this weird drill-kick thing, fire a harpoon to grab enemies(just like Scorpion) and bring them them to her.

You regain health by drinking the blood of your enemies. Bloodrayne can also carry a ton of guns and weapons that she can use to kick three kinds of butt.

Bloodrayne is actually a cool game. Honestly though, even though some features were removed for the second installment, Bloodrayne 2 is a much better game. Unfortunately it's not on the gamecube. But if you have an Xbox or a Playstation 2, I recommend getting that one.

Bloodrayne is for those who only have a gamecube and want to play as the beautiful vampire vixen. It's fun, but there's better games out there where you can play as a vampire, just not as a hot vivacious vampire vixen.Lire l'avis complet...

A Unique Game That Just Isn't Good Enough

Bloodrayne was definitely a great concept to tackle, but I really feel like it was handled poorly. You play as a vampire who is basically trying to take action against the Nazis because they're up to some no good - playing around with monsters and zombies. So while the concept of playing as a vampire agent in a war is quite cool, the fact that you're taking on Nazis who are playing around with the super natural is really nothing new to the video game genre. What follows is a third person shooter that sees you taking on Nazi soldiers and a wide array of bizarre monsters. What's cool about Bloodrayne is that not only can you use an assortment of guns, but you have this blades that are harnassed to your arms which can be used as melee weapons - cutting of limbs and heads of opponents get to be really fun. Also, when you're depleted on energy, you can suck the blood of the soliders to replenish it. There is also a feature which many games have come to adapt thanks to the Matrix, and that is the slo motion mode which helps you make better attacks and dodge the array of bullets which will start heading your way. The game is rated mature and there is quite the amount of violence, which is actually the only highlight of this game (you can look at that as a good or bad thing, either way). The game is ok, the graphics aren't that bad (but they're not that good either) and the story really just can't carry this game from start to finish. It's fine if you're looking to occupy some time, but this game just wasn't executed well enough to make it a hit....I'm not even sure how they managed a sequel out of this.Lire l'avis complet...

Enjoyable and unique

Its a great action game and has unique gameplay mechanics that makes this game unique and on modern consoles , I still don't have my Blood Rayne fix.

BloodRayne

I bought this game because after I found out that it was actually releases for the Gamecube. The story line is very well done with decent voice acting. Graphics are very good for the time that it was released. Some may find it dated with todays standards. The gameplay is somewhat linear. You have preset objectives for each area. The melee combat is rather lackluster, leaving you to depend heavily on the weapons that you find along the way. To me the higlight was playing the level with the mech. Bloodrayne (GC) edition

Ive actually had both this and the second version for the PC but it is a pain using the keyboard. Since I've never completed the PC version i figured I'd pick up the gamecube version and start fresh. Graphically its ok. Not as good as some other gamecube titles. Gameplay is decent, straight forward controls. Pretty much a common hack and slash game with a female vampire lead character twist. BloodRayne

I had fun playing this game it can be quite challenging in finding out where to go, but that's pretty much how it goes with all games. There are enemies, but the character in this game is pretty fast in getting to them, she can jump and bite them and then it's all over. The tricky part is getting used to walking on high wires, as you're balancing yourself on it, and seeing where to go. It's the telephone pole wires, so I had to get used to walking on them, it's quite easy to fall off and die in the water will melt you. But that's just trying to perfect how you play the game, so just had to get used to that. I rate this game 3 out of 5 stars.Lire l'avis complet...

BloodRayne (GameCube)

I love this game,alot of intense action without alot of BS.Game play is challengeing (ie.: finding entrance into locked buildings,moveing around swamps..which the water burns you if you fall in).Alot of Fun to play.
Rateing is correct..this is a "Mature" game.ALOT of "bad language"..But who is gonna' holar freakin' frack(lol) at an 20ft. Monster attacking you.;-)
I would recommend this game to anyone who wants a good RPG style game with alot of action & a challenge.
I've very pleased with this game & the seller who I bought it from as it was in "new" condition and has been a joy to play.
