Background sound helps me sleep sound
I ordered this device because as my wife once stated, "you wake up when I drop a sock on the carpet". The Big Red Rooster helps me sleep through the night with natural ambient background sound that masks the intermittent sounds that wake me. Summer Night and Brook are my two favorite settings. You can leave them on all night or set a timer for 30, 60, or 90 minutes before they stop. The only only reason I did not give this five stars is that the sounds are a recorded loop and on Rain Forest and Song Bird the loop pattern is detectable if you listen for it. Perfect for travel
Motels are always a nightmare to sleep in with all the ambient noises. This compact machine does away with that with nine useable sounds. (Heartbeat sound is a little cheesy)
Battery powered or with an AC adapter, it gets loud enough, but will distort if you push the tiny speaker too much. The best feature is it has a sleep mode option to run a certain amount of minutes, or all night. (Most only have an option of 30-120 minutes before they shut off)

Loudness
If you are looking for a machine to calmly help you fall a sleep this is a nice one. If you are looking for a machine that will block outside noise this might not be the one for you. Excellent sounds
This has an excellent sound very soothing the sound quality is great, anyone who has difficulty going to sleep needs to purchase this it's well worth it, you'll sleep like a lamb!

Red Rooster Appreciation
I love my red rooster sound machine. I have tinnitus and when I use it my tinnitus is alleviated when I get up. This is a very good product and very helpful to me.

Nice product but it didn't get the job done for me.

Great little portable white noise machine
We had the white version of this product in our secondary residence. We were taking it from residence to residence when we decided to just get another one. We got the black one since it better matches our primary residence decor. Works great.
