A great movie with a great storyline but a little weak in the writing a 4.5

Country music Superstar Toby Keith stars in this movie based on his own song title of the same name, Whiskey for my men beer for my horses. In this movie, Keith plays a Deputy Sheriff to Tom Skeritt and is partnered with Rodney Carrington and Ted Nugent. Carrington, in my opinion steals the show with his brand of comedy.

The movie is a serious themed play about justice against the rising plague of methanphetamine use and distribution and what Justice used to be and should be today. But at the same time, Carrington's character, Lonnie Luther Feldman can't seem to have a serious moment though he tries to be a hard nosed deputy partner to Joe Bill 'Rack' Racklin (Keith)but in reality is lacking in spine. Hardly a scene goes by that Carrington is in, that I didn't all but howl with laughter.
Claire Forlani who plays Annie Streets and is the beautiful damsel in distress, turns in a fine performance in Beer....She is the long lost girl of "Rack" who moved off to the big city to find her fame and fortune but still is a country girl at heart and returns home to care for her mother who is thought to have Alzheimer disease but as it turns out, is being secretly drugged by her husband, played by Barry Corbin.

Streets and Rack reignite their love and she quickly falls prey to the evil drug lords the Garza brothers. Rack, Lonnie, and Skunk(Nugent)take leave of Oklahoma and head to Mexico to rescue Streets. Nugent who is a major character in the movie only has one line of two words, "Circus Jolley" which, in my opinion was a major weakness in the movie but, which was played expertly by Nugent.

Tom Skerritt turns in a stellar performance as well in this movie but again, there is no doubt that he is playing second fiddle to Toby Keith which is a drift from the smash Country Song on which the movie is based. Barry Corbin as always is outstanding and somewhat of a surprise in the movie in that, his character turns out NOT to be what is thought it would be.

Beer for my Horses is about good versus evil, sobriety versus drug use and distribution and rescuing the Damsel in distress. Keith's super serious character is perfectly matched to Carrington's comedic genius and Nugent's sheer presence in the film adds so much testosterone that drips off the screen.

This film is Pg-13 and is void of gratuitous violence, sex and the language is kept to a bare minimum, making this one a true family movie. While there are scenes of violence, there is zero gore or grotesque sound effects which is a tremendous blessing today and a grand departure from so much of what HollyWood puts out today.

Toby Keith shows that he is multi talented by his acting and his screen writing ability by turning out a really good movie. It is weak in places as is any movie out there and Keith's prowess as a screen writer while really good, can be seen as needing work. This writer thinks that Keith did a fantastic job with it and Rodney Carrington who co-wrote this with Keith truly shines through with the interjection of his comedic talents. Carrington sings, and buffoons his way right in to your heart and is absolutely perfect as "Rack's" hard nosed elbow smashing straight laced and serious personality.

When the likes of Ted Nugent, Tom Skerritt, Barry Corbin, Claire Forlani in supporting roles, a rookie actor is transformed in to something that holds great promise for future projects. Will Keith ever be a superstar actor? Probably not, but he shows promise.Lire l'avis complet...

I love the small town Deputy that had the love of his life moving back home and he is still in love with her. She get kidnapped and takin into another Country and he goes to save her happy ending. Also I love Toby Keith and know I have both his movies. GOD BLESS EVERYONE🙏😇❤️Lire l'avis complet...

Disappointed, because I didn't get a chance to watch it!

The video would not read in my DVD player! Pixelated, stuttered when it read the disc at all, I will try to get it to run better, by cleaning the disc or send it back!

Beer for My Horses

This was strongly recommended to me by a friend who said that I should rent it. I figured that if he said to rent it, I should buy it as he tends to share certain interests with me and I don't usually rent or buy movies.

Beer for My Horses is A delightful romp through redneck isms, lost and found love, truck and firearms fantasies. Plenty of jokes and not near enough high jinks by the Nuge. Plenty of cop cliches, drug deal cliches, and guy/gal fight/love/lust situations.

Watch this expecting to have fun and you quite likely will. Look for anything serious about it and you won't enjoy it.

I didn't see anything much racier than I have seen on broad cast TV. It is not a kid flick but I didn't see anything seriously offensive.

It was worth the money because I will watch it again when I feel like it. I see it as kind of like the Smoky and the Bandit type of thing with a more modern theme. I liked it a lot better than high dollar Forest Gump which I have always thought was hokey as hell.

We love this movie every time we go camping, we watch it… Found out our was missing we couldn’t find it anywhere was thrilled that eBay had it!

So bad it's good.

This movie is so painfully poorly written, acted and directed it's unintentionally funny. I actually enjoyed it, although I may be the only one that thinks so.
