I think that the item was worth purchasing / It is an alright comedy

In my opinion, Barton Fink certainly is not one of the best movies from the early 1990s, but it is still an average Coen brothers film. Nevertheless, there are definitely others from the directing team, such as No Country for Old Men, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Blood Simple, True Grit, A Serious Man, and Millers Crossing, which are absolutely better than this one. As for Barton Fink, it is entertaining enough in the sense that it is not boring and the movie is also quite original. Overall, the film has its moments and works as a comedy most of the time because it has plenty of funny parts at first, but then, the movie slowly turns into a drama as well. To be honest, it is John Goodman who steals the show since he is the commanding presence in just about every scene that he is in and it is the character he portrays which also holds great significance to the plot. Many fans of this cult-classic speculate and assume from all of the foreshadowing elements and other hints at his true identity, that Goodmans character is actually the devil himself, but that is pretty much left ambiguous by the end of the film. It is really amazing that John Goodmans incredible performance did not garner an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, but he came close with being nominated at the Golden Globes. What comes as a bigger shock is that, like Steve Buscemi, he has not received a single Oscar nomination throughout his resepectable career, but he has not been entirely overlooked. With the movie itself, Barton Fink got three Academy Award nominations in 1991, but it still could have received a few more such as, not only the one for Best Supporting Actor alongside Michael Lerner who was additionally in the film, but also nominations for Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Score would have been necessary too. For the record, John Turturro also delivered a great performance in this okay comedy-drama as well. In conclusion, those are basically all of the positive things about the content of the product and it should properly explain why I bought it. I do recommend it, but Barton Fink truly is a movie for those with specific tastes in the genre because the reality is that not everyone would enjoy this type of a film. I know a great deal of people who would probably think it is just a strange and pointless movie, but I think that the Coens made a decent effort in trying to get their creative message across through this one-of-a-kind film. Quite frankly, it is definitely unlike any other movie I have seen before.Lire l'avis complet...
