Learning about myself

I (30+f) have been recently diagnosed autistic. This book not only helped me see I was not alone in my experiences growing up, but also gave me the language I needed to understand myself better. Highly recommended if you need to understand the experiences of autistic female of any age. The book doesn't have all the answers (autism is a spectrum disorder so many symptoms and their severity differ between individuals), but the information is an excellent addition to a good base knowledge. Not Much Substance

This "book" (it is a collection of articles by numerous authors) is good at outlining the difficulties autistic children face as well as the difficulties parents and teachers have when educating such children. However, it offers little in the way of solutions or instruction. Throughout this book you will see the phrase "teachers or parents will know best how to..." approach this issue/address this problem/teach this skill. Well, I DON'T know how. That's why I bought this book! Overall, this book resembles the books you find in the Self Help section of the bookstore: it has a lot of words but doesn't end up saying anything very useful or actionable.Lire l'avis complet...
