A doctor's take on surviving Auschwitz
Excellent eyewitness account of a Jewish doctor forced to work under the notorious Dr. Mengele at Auschwitz in the crematoriums as part of the sonderkommando. Whereas many testimonies come from the emotional angle of feelings and fear, this book is written just as a doctor would write it: just the blunt facts and details allowing the reader to form their own emotional opinion. Nonetheless a great story on the difficult decisions and work that a prisoner of Auschwitz had to face in order to avoid becoming one of the corpses that were so much the focus of his job.Lire l'avis complet...

Auschwitz: A Doctor's Eyewitness Account
Doctor Miklos Nyiszli as prisoner in the Auschwitz death camp had a unique ring side seat observing the deaths of hundreds of thousands of his fellow Jews from all over Europa including mostly from his native hungary. As the chief pathologist for Dr. Menegle, Dr. Nyiszli was engaged in gruesome autopsies on his fellow Jews in exchange for his own life and the lives of his family also interned in the death camp. The goal of this macabre medical task was to obtain the secret of producing as many aryan twins as possible for the murderous Third Reich through medical research. One is sickened at Nyiszli's remoteness and yet detailed almost matter of fact story side manner as if he was a news reporter quickly passing through this living hell on earth. This is one of the most complete books on the subject. Many other accounts have a singular perspective. Nyiszli was every where in camp due to a special pass given to by non other then Dr. Mengele himself. The book read is almost too difficult to take in as one after another of wholesale slaughters is recalled by Nyiszli's first hand eye witness accounts.Lire l'avis complet...

Had to take breaks for humanity purpose but worth it
This is an amazing book. First book I picked up to read about Auschwitz and I was not disappointed. Author paints a very vivid picture of the horrors he seen within the camp.
In my hunting for books on Auschwitz there are very few from within the crematoriums. Worth the readLire l'avis complet...
