Great story but not a great finish.

I watched the film once before and I love the story line about a boy and his parents coming together at the end. Robin Williams plays one of his dark characters and the young boy was portrayed with great skills. I would have liked a better closure for the family story line to make the film memorable. The price for the DVD was great, the musical contrasts between mom, dad and the conductor makes for easy viewing.Lire l'avis complet...

August Rush

August Rush is a movie that draws you into the world of a young boy who is given up at birth, due to circumstances that you will learn through viewing the movie. He lives in the system for awhile until one day he leaves and embarks on a journey to find his parents. And, along the way, he discovers that the music he hears inside himself and within the world around him is a true gift! He knows that his parents are out there in the world somewhere and by creating/composing/playing music he will, one day find them. He can feel it in his heart. August finds a friend who takes him to stay in an abandoned theatre. The man (Robin Williams) who keeps watch over and 'takes care of' the children who live there, by having them play music and earn money. There are a few frightening scenes (not suitable for younger children, unless an adult is watching with them to explain what is going on, and why August is being treated that way). You will want to see this to understand the entire storyline. Toward the end of the movie, August directs a symphony [that he composed at Juliard School of Music] in the park, and his parents come forward to see him. August knows that these must be his parents, but the audience is left to figure this out for themselves. It ends with August smiling, and these two people holding hands and smiling back at him. A must see for anyone who enjoys music and a happy ending.Lire l'avis complet...

August Rush

The acting is fantastic. Robin Williams plays a terrific role; he's such a versatile actor. His character is dark, yet at times, inspiring. Freddie Highmore is truly amazing. You fall in love with his character. You want to believe this "fairy-tale" of love, romance, family, and deep connection of human emotion can exist, and that this story could happen in the real world. Jonathan Rhys Myers and Keri Russell spend one night together and spend their lives apart, both knowing that they had met each other's soulmate, and that they were meant to be together. This is a must-see, feel-good movie. It will make you laugh, cry, and celebrate life, love, and family. The soundtrack is equally as fantastic.Lire l'avis complet...

*****AUGUST RUSH*****

I'm really not sure if I have the articulation skills to convey just how special & excellent that this film is( and deserves). The story, script, directing, acting, vibe, music and everything else about this movie makes it one of the most unique heart-soaring, feel-good films of the 21st century & very possibly of all time. A five star movie, both figuratively(on a 5*-scale) and literally(Freddie Highmore, Kerri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Myers, Terrence Howard, and last but not least, the one & only Robin Williams) along with the directorship of Kristen Sheridan paints quite a beautiful picture indeed. Truly inspired story/ screenplay by Nick Castle & James V. Hart. Great original story by Paul Castro along with Nick castle. Superb supporting cast. Oh..And I don't recall anything blowing up in the picture. In short, my opinion_ Grand Slam winner. My IMDB rating is 9.0. Those of you with good taste(Hey, I like gritty heroic war pictures) will not be disappointed. So I loved the total package and decided to buy it because I saw it on rental about a year after it was at the theaters(at least 7 times). Now, I've lost count. sincerely, VonLire l'avis complet...

I Know You're Out There Somewhere (Moody Blues, 1988)

A musical delight that might require the suspension of the laws of nature but what do we know about how the mind and the world around us really work. A true romantic adventure that my wife and I have already watched a number of times.Lire l'avis complet...

Awesome tearjerker

You can read the other reviews and I will add a couple things. Before you watch this get some tissues. Heart wrenching story, I had to take a couple breaks. Actors were great and plot (writer was in a cosmic state getting things just right). If it was based on a true story my heart would’ve broken. I’m not sure I can part with this movie nor do I have enough Kleenex to watch it any time again soon. I love horror, action, thrillers and a few comedies and blame my daughter for hooking me up with this . Everyone should watch it once. Or keep it for dark times as a small niggle of hope. PS don’t drink and watch. You will be overwhelmed. CheersLire l'avis complet...
