Great thougtful movie

This is a great movie staring Sean Penn. It was inspired by the true story of a failed assasination of Richard Nixon. The main character Sam Bicke is a looser, who feels betrayed from society. He split up with his wife, works as dealer and pays alimony, trying to reestablish the relationship to his family. In his view, the world is bad because people are dishonest. He writes letters to a composer, whose music seems honest and pure to him and who seems to be an imaginary friend for Bicke. The content of the letters is cited by Bicke's off camera voice, showing how he feels. In his job, he is expected to be dishonest in order to sale furniture. The conflict between his moral standards and his social environment increases, he eventually looses his job, his wife wants the divorce and the foundation of his own business also fails. In the end he sees President Richard Nixon as the biggest of all liars and plans to kill him, hijacking an airplane and forcing the pilot to make it crash into the White House.
What I especially like about this movie, is the link to the terrorist attacks of September 11th. The film shows that terror has got a lot to do with exaggerated moral (not necessarily religious) standards and the feeling of powerlessness and inferiority. Sean Penn's acting is fantastic and makes the character really believable.
