I have been watching "Are You Being Served" series episodes for over 25 years. I didn't know that a movie existed until just recently. I immediately purchased it and watched it right away. It was a great movie. The actors and plot were true to the series. It was almost like a long episode without the laugh track. GRACE BROTHERS GANG HEAD TO THE TROPICS

We leave the Grace Brothers store behind to travel with the staff on a company paid holiday to Cosat Plonka some where in the tropics. Upon arrival messed up reservations force occupancy in beach tents instead of the luxury suites they envisioned and tropical passion takes hold of Ms Slocombe whose feeling extra frisky and sets her sites on a romp with Captain Peacock whose interest is not Ms. Slocombe. Mr. Humphrey takes special interest in the male staff at Don Bernardo's Palace Hotel, while Mr. Lucas brazen passion for Ms Brahms brings about a barrage of insults to cool him off and Mr Rumbolt has no fun at all. Middle of the night tent hopping finds everyone with the wrong prospect they hoped for and an early morning rebel uprising against the Plonka government by rebels catch the crew right dab in the middle of a civil war but young Mr. Grace (with secretary) arrives in time to save the day.

This movies a must have for fans of Are You Being Served. Be warned though a low budget for production leaves the quality of the film and sound track less than desirable but a true fan will overlook it and love the movie. This one will more than likely be hard to find before long so you better get it while its around to avoid those "out of print' extortion prices we are so familiar with for hard to find movies. I think they need to be in the store for it to work.

I've been a fan of AYBS for years and had really been looking forward to this movie. And I know it's a specific genre of the period, the series that were made into quickie movies, and I tried to keep that in mind.

It was interesting seeing the characters in a different situation...for a while, anyway. But without the social hierarchy they were all trying to enforce in the store (and in the manor house in Grace & Favour), the interpersonal relations kind of fell apart.

If you're expecting a lot of original material, you might be disappointed. Much of the humor is recycled from episodes of the show (including the tent-antics). I had expected it to be more or less the same as the show, and it wasn't. It stretched out and was somewhat boring. To my horror, I couldn't get absorbed in it at all, even trying to keep in mind what it was and trying not to set my hopes too high.

If you're a hardcore fan, by all means get the movie so that one more piece fits into place. But if you're expecting a longer version of the sitcom, you'll be disappointed and should probably avoid it.Lire l'avis complet...

Great British Humor

I had seen the series but recently found out there was a movie. It didn't disappoint. It was funny but also over the top, and that's just what you'd expect from Are you being Served?

If British comedy is what you are looking for. Then Are You Being Severed is a must have. It has an absolutely wonderful cast that play so well off one another it is truly a delight.

A classic comedy
