Excellent size, poor software interface

I have to start out by saying that I really do like the size and convenience of the shuffle. For working out, riding a bike, etc, it does a great job. I really don't like not having a screen to see what I'm listening to or what is on the player, but that was expected with the Shuffle and is a compromise you have to make to get this size.
The one big dislike I have of this player is the interface with the computer (iTunes) and the charging capability (or lack of). If you have your shuffle charging on your computer and you are in a hurry you can't just pull it off the charging stand / interface. This could leave you with nothing on your shuffle at all. Also, if you aren't careful with your settings, you could end up replacing all of your music every time you plug it in to charge it. How hard would it have been to provide a charging interface that didn't immediately have to go to iTunes and risk deleting your music each time?
I have had the shuffle for a few weeks now and have had multiple times where I have brought it in to work only to find that the music I wanted isn't there (sometimes no music at all).
If it wasn't for this big concern I would really like this player for the purpose it is designed for: holding a few songs and randomly shuffling through them. However, this interface concern has me really wishing I had a different player.

Good, cheap solution for music in motorcycle helmets or for use at the gym.

I have 2 of these, 1 for the gym and 1 to clip on my motorcycle helmet. Battery life was good but its becoming worse with age, which is to be expected. Design is great, can easily be operated while wearing gloves while clipped on helmet or while jogging. Very lightweight, don't notice it at all on a helmet or clipped on my pants while at the gym. Its pretty simple so no features other than volume up/down, next/previous track, and shuffle. Overall great cheap music solution.Lire l'avis complet...

apple ipod shuffle 2nd gen. 2GB

Because I got the same thing for my Bday a year ago, and I like this product a lot because it is small, light, it has a clip so it is easy to carry wherever you go, even if you go running. It has quite a good capacity (2GB) and I like when songs are shuffling, so I don't get bored with them. I also find the battery quite powerful since it can run like 8hours as I experienced. A little thing that disturbs me that the "shuffle" function pics the same sets of songs every time, and that after recharging the battery, it starts playing from the very beginning. Other than that I like the different colors, I have a purple one that is very pretty, and this silver is ok too.Lire l'avis complet...

I am happy with product.

I am not sure about battery life as these units are getting old and battery is original. This is my 3rd one, found it is cheaper to buy from e-bay than to replace battery. Am still monitoring this unit to see how long charge will last. This iPod shuffle is pretty much indestructible and should last a long time with any amount of care.Lire l'avis complet...

Apple Ipod Shuffle 2nd Gen. Overlooked & underrated

This shuffle comes in 1 or 2 gig varieties & is my Ipod of choice for the gym. It's no bigger than a matchbook, weighs less than an ounce, & has a very secure spring clip. It's simple, clean & of adequate capacity(1gig) for any of my itunes playlists. It has the controls built into the unit face. Later generations have the controls on the headphone cord, which will prevent you from using other brands & styles of headphones. Play functions are either in playlist order, or shuffled randomly. There's no EQ function, but it delivers adequate frequency response for most listeners. I average 8-10 hours of listening time one a single charge, at moderate-to-loud volume levels. For most activities, the clip is sufficient, but for rigorous activities, some sort of arm or wristband case may be needed(or stick it in your pocket). If you need low maintenance tunes, this is a superior choice.
Additionally, I've seen some other reviews about the itunes interface & have to disagree. It's rather simple. If itunes is set to autosync, the shuffle will autofill with a playlist. Just click on the shuffle from the itunes sidebar on the left. Choose the playlist you want from the drop down menu at the bottom of the screen. You can also adjust settings for the shuffle syncing. Click the settings button at the bottom right(the default setting is to erase the shuffle contents when syncing). If you just want to charge when you plug it in, make sure autosync for itunes is turned off. If autosync is on, you must eject the ipod from itunes(but not from windows) & let it sit to charge.

Purchased for Road Trips

I actually purchased this preowned iPod for road trips. I was able to download some music & I listened to a few songs through ear phones but haven't had a chance to use it for a long trip yet, so I cannot comment on the battery life.Lire l'avis complet...

Apple iPod™ shuffle - 2 GB

Apple took a great product, the original shuffle, and made some great improvements. They made it even smaller (hard to believe) and put a clip on it, so you don't need an arm band or lanyard.

The iPod shuffle is great for runners, commuters, working-out, or anyone who needs to listen to a few songs and doesn't care if it gets dropped or lost. Why carry around a large iPod that can hold 10,000 songs when you are only running for 30 minutes or your commute on the train is 50 minutes. You also want to be able to slip it in your pocket or hang it around your neck or on your arm when working-out.

PROS:
-Small
-Easy to use
-Quick load times

CONS:
-None

All-in-all, the iPod shuffles are great for short work-outs or commutes or anyone who doesn't like the bulk of the larger iPods.

Shuffle me up

This is a great intro into the world of "mobile" music. Easy to use, long battery life (12 hours), and small profile make it the ideal vehicle to bring your music with you with minimal bulk.

Most new cars have an Aux input that the Shuffle can plug into making it ideal for a long road trip or the daily commute.

The only drawback is no screen to browse through songs, but that is why it’s called the shuffle!

great item

This is the best mp3 player on the market. Let's face it when it comes to the music how many times do you really use that fancy big touch screen? Most of the time it's just listening. And this tiny gadget is simply superb. It's so small you won't even notice it (careful not to lose it though). You can attach it to any part of cloth desired and you're ready to rock.
Simply amazing

One con though it only works with itunes that is kind of annoying sometimes.

Ipod Shuffle good LONG battery

I love the fact that there is a clip on it. It has a long battery life and if really hard to break I have thrown mine around. The only thing would be a screen but I mean seriously that is what the Nano is for. They really have a great design and an excellent product. Love this product have had no problems and it DOMINATES other mp3 players I have run into.Lire l'avis complet...
