Worth every penny.

Let me start off by saying that I'm not a big fan of apple handheld products and that the phone was purchased as a gift for my wife. That being said, I really thought that the phone was well worth purchasing. Yes, it didn't have Siri but my wife and I have enough people in our lives that we don't really need the phone in order to have a conversation and you can do everything Siri does with a swipe of a finger. It also doesn't have the processor and camera update that was released in the 4s version but it works well with what it has installed and my wife uses a real camera when she's interested in taking photos for the photo album. Don't get me wrong the pictures are OK. Not great, just OK. All in all, it was worth the money I spent on it.Lire l'avis complet...

i love the iphone!

iPhone 4 is thinner, shorter and ever so slightly heavier than iPhone 3GS. Gone is the curved plastic back plate, replaced by a flat glass panel and a shiny metal band that wraps around the perimeter of the device. This is the first major redesign since the original iPhone debuted three years ago. The basic design - touchscreen and single front-panel button - is the same as it's always been, but the styling cues, accents, and overall hand feel are markedly changed. Most striking is the screen, which has a new sharpness from its special 3.5-inch Retina display that gives a 960×640 resolution – the highest of any smartphone. The camera, featuring 720p HD video recording, appeared to be much better quality – it has a five-megapixels sensor, compared to three on the 3GS, and features an LED flash that also doubles as a video light when recording.
Running the new 4.0 software and with an A4 Apple processor inside, response times seemed markedly faster than its predecessor.
If you’re a gamer, you will appreciate the addition of a gyroscope to the iPhone’s motion-sensing capabilities, and if you are just a general user, improved battery life that allows up to 10 hours of internet browsing on Wi-Fi means the iPhone will still be lit up and functioning long after the Evo, with its weak battery life, will have shut down.
On the bright side, FaceTime video calls are fantastic, likely because there's no cellular signal involved (you're limited to WiFi calling). Video and audio are great, it's easy to switch between front/rear cameras and landscape/portrait orientation in the middle of a call, and the narcissist in me loves flicking the preview window from corner to corner instead of paying attention to the person I'm FaceTiming with. Apple was incredibly smart to make video calling "just another button" in the standard phone interface, making it much easier to place a video call on an iPhone than a comparable Android device. The limitation with FaceTime, of course, is that for now you can only make video calls between two iPhone 4s. But that's kind of the point, from Apple's perspective.
Usually I wrap up phone reviews by saying - or at least thinking - that a week or two with a new smartphone is hardly enough time to get to know it, let alone be able to tell how it'll hold up over the long haul. In this case I've got the opposite feeling. By now all iPhone owners are familiar enough with the operating system, the iTunes/App Store ecosystem, and the way an iPhone works that a few weeks with iPhone 4 is plenty of time to get to know the thing. The question that remains isn't how well Apple's new phone will hold up over the long haul so much as whether or not Apple will be able to fix the issues that are plaguing the device right out of the gate, or if they'll wind up as part of the cost of being an iPhone user.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH APPLE?

WHY DO APPLE HAS TO LOCK THEIR PHONES IN THE FIRST PLACE???
THIS SUCKS! AND WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO PROTECT?!?!
IF YOU SEETHE TERM "UNLOCKED" SOMEWHERE - DO NOT BELIEVE IT!
THIS PHONE IS ONLY WORKING IN THE USA AND ONLY ON ATT!
THERE IS NOTHING UNLOCKED ABOUT IT!
SO APPLE CAN GO TO HELL!

THE PHONE IS MORE OR LESS LIKE THE OLD ONE!
NOTHING NEW ABOUT IT!
THAT CAMERA ON THE FRONT MAY BE NEW TO APPLE - BUT I HAD A VIDEO CONFERENCE PHONE 10 YEARS AGO! SO APPLE HAD DISCOVERED THE HOT WATER AFTER 10 YEARS.
HAHA - BE PROUD GUYS!

WELL THE NORMALL CAMERA OF THE PHONE IS 5MP. THAT HAD BEEN ON THE MARKET FOR 5 YEARS AS WELL. SOME MANUFACTURESR ALREADY HAVE 12MP CAMERAS ON THEIR PHONES!

THE PHONE DOES NOT HAVE GPS WHICH SUCKS! AGPS IS NOTHING CLOSE TO REAL GPS!

THIS THING WITH THE MICRO SIM IS TOTALLY IDIOTIC FROM APPLE! THIS SIM IS SO SMALL THAT YOU WILL LOOSE IT! WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE PREVIOUS ONE - IT WAS PERFECT SIZE!

THE "RETINA DISPLAY" IS ALSO NOTHING REALLY NEW AND EXTRAORDINARY! 960X640 = 614 400 PIXELS ON A 3.5"!!! WELL SONY HAS A 921 000 PIXELS LCD SCREENS ON 3.5" CAMERA LCD! SO AGAIN NOTHING SPECIAL HERE!

SOFTWARE IS LIKE THE OLD ONE!

THE NEW SHAPE IS COOL THOUGH! VERY SLIM AND NICE TO HOLD! THE BACK OF THE PHONE IS ABSOLUTELY COOL - MUCH BETTER THAN THE OLD ONE!

BUT THERE IS STILL THE BIGGEST PROBLEM OF THIS PHONE! WHY IS THE PHONE BIGGER THAN THE DISPLAY??????????????
OR THE OTHER WAY ARROUND - IF THE PHONE HAS TO BE SO BIG FOR SOME REASON - THAN WHY IS THE DISPLAY SMALLER THAN THE PHONE?
OR IN OTHER OTHER WORDS - IF YOU ARE ABOUT TO CARRY A PHONE WHICH HAS A 4.5" DIAGONAL - THEN WHY IS THE DISPLAY 3.5" AND NOT 4.5" ????
ANY LOGICAL ANSWER TO THAT!?!?!
YOU BRING SOMETHING SO HUGE IN YOUR POCKET AND THE SPACE IS NOT UTILIZED BY THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENT OF A TOUCH SCREEN SMARTPHONE - NAMELY THE DISPLAY!

IN CONCLUSION - BUY THE PHONE - IT IS ALMOST PERFECT - BUT WAIT UNTILL IT IS REALLY UNLOCKED!
I HAVE SPENT 1,150 USD NOW FOR A VERY NICE IPOD 4G - BECAUSE I CANNOT USE IT AS A PHONE!
NICE HUH?

Simply SUPERB!!!

If you have never ever had an iPhone, your behind in Cell Phone technology and missing the, Mazinger Z, of Smart phones! Sorry to say that, but it's true. The iPhone not only delivers the Touch Screen advantage with its Retina display, but strong tools better than the best subsecuent Cell Phone on the market today. Almost any task that you can execute in the iPhone is as easy as a blink of an eye. There is over 300,000+ games and applications for it and still growing. If its unlocked you'll be almost bored and undecided in what to test in your phone... You could say its almost endless...

I bought the gsm unlocked 32GB unit [The one reviewed its only half memory]. The unit is definitely a conversational piece, but it got very, very strong competence today [Infuse, Atrix, Strike, Galaxy, etc].

As many reviews that I have wrote here, I'll give you the PROS & CONS that I've found already for the benefit of all.

PROS
1. Touch screen Retina [resolution much higher than the human eye can see] display advantage.
2. Easy friendly menus, tools, address book, contacts, super fast web surfing, etc.
3. iPod included (Music & Video Player).
4. Super Fast Internet.
5. Stereo headphone with mini-bass capability.
6. SIM Card exchange without opening the unit.
7. Superb redesign from original unit.
8. Slim candy bar jawbreaker design.
9. The 32GB version would hold so, so much apps, music & videos, that you would not need anything else... I mean this is not a Desktop PC [PLEASE!]

CONS:
1. No manual included. Friendly, but for specific details you need to download from Apple the Electronic Manual.
2. The Wall Charger that comes with the iPhone it's not good or faster. You'll need to buy a Rapid Wall Charger and a Car Charger, because the iPhone drains quickly the battery when used for gamming...
3. Camera is only 5MP when thers a lot of smartphones out there with 8 and 8.1MPs.
4. Display should be bigger.
5. Overrated price.
6. Antenna bad design from the beginning [some latest models have been improved].
7. New Apple firmwares always, always damage info on it...

Summarizing: Highly recommended!!!

Good iphone

Good

get rid of att sevice!Finally!

The design is the second beautiful thing, yes second, without that Retina Display, I might still have doubts about buying my iPhone 4. So yeah, second. They made the phone extremely slim at 9.3mm, it happens to be the slimmest smartphone ever and it's true. The little metal band there, yes it's the antenna and it's beautiful. Guess what? It's also the foundation for the whole phone. That's why it's so slim and squary-like, like a sandwich. Oh and both panels, the screen, and the rear happen to be using gorilla glass, the strongest glass available in the market right now, 30-times more durable and scratch resistant than plastic. Basically what I'm saying is it's a pretty sophisticated yet extravagantly beautiful design.

Despite the many good things I could keep on saying with the iPhone 4, I think those are the main ones. However there's no such thing as perfect, yes I know I said it's perfect earlier, I lied, but it's still the nearest thing you can get near perfect. There are three things, for some people taking pictures on an iPhone gets annoying, there's no hardware button, you have to use the touchscreen. However a hardware camera button would have ruined the nice simplistic design Apple gave to the iPhone. Another thing is closing apps gets annoying sometimes, but at least it doesn't use much battery and it's pretty darn useful. The last thing is, well it has pretty tight integration with iTunes, which isn't optimized for slow systems.

Iphone 4: real world review

This review will be short and sweet, since you can find all the technical details in a million other places!

I am an avid iphone user. I have had every generation of the iphone starting with the first and thus far I have not seen any phone that is as solidly designed and as efficient as the iphone. The operating system on this phone is second to none, and it has an answer to almost anything you want to do with ease.

A couple problems I have been having is I did notice the antenna issue, but that was easily fixed with the ultra-thin cover I ordered. I use a cover to protect the phone (its wildly expensive, who wouldnt) so that became a nonissue almost immediately.

Another, very, very annoying problem is the sensor on the front of the phone that senses when you are on a call (it must be some sort of light sensor that distinguishes when the phone is close to your face, so it is SUPPOSED to eliminate the problem of your face pressing buttons while on the phone). The same sensor has been on all of the previous iphone models and has worked flawlessly to the point where I NEVER mispressed a button while on the phone, but for some reason on the iphone 4, this sensor does not do a good job. I constantly am dialing numbers while the phone is close to my face, enabling conference calls, dialing numbers, enabling facechat - its VERY annoying. It doesnt happen all the time, but dont expect to be able to carry your groceries or do anything that requires you holding the phone with just your shoulder against your ear, you will get annoyed. I am sure there is an easy software fix for this, and I hope they implement it soon.

Other than that problem, the phone is great. Its fast, intuitive, polished, and is a solid piece of hardware. Battery life is great, features are endless, and I still have not been able to find a phone thats as polished as this. I use this phone because the system is smooth, everything opens quickly, and I can count on things to work. You get what you pay for, and there is a reason its so popular. 4/5 stars - once they fix the sensor, 5/5
