Not perfect- but ALMOST perfect! :)

The iPhone 3GS is a major step forward from the iPhone 3G, because of the much faster processor, improved camera with (smooth, not choppy) video capability, and a better GPS performance with added compass and other features. Apart of that, the iPhone 3GS is pretty much the same as 3G. The biggest weakness of any iPhone so far has been the short battery life. Apple has built a great smartphone with a large bright and high-quality LCD screen that is capable of playing video and music, and performing all sorts of energy-consuming tasks... and the battery remains the same as the very first version if iPhone 1st Generation. On a bad day (when I use my phone more) I'm lucky if my battery lasts for more than 3-4 hours. I implore Apple to fix this issue with the next iPhone coming up in June 2010! Another issue that bothers me a lot is the lack of Adobe Flash technology, which makes a large percentage of popular websites unavailable for viewing on the iPhone. This is probably due to some financial politics between Apple and Adobe, two of the world's most amazing companies- but unfortunately in this case the ones that suffer are the users. Although I really love my iPhone 3GS and want to give it 5 stars, because of the battery life and the limited web browsing, I am unable to give it more than 4 stars. Which is still a lot higher than most other phones for sale on the North American market today.Lire l'avis complet...

Excellent IPHONE !!

Apple has released another new iPhone - the 3GS - to stave off the competition from the Palm Pre and the HTC Magic. But is it worth the super-high upgrade charges, given the iPhone 3G with the new 3.0 software is very similar?

The iPhone 3GS was delivered by Phil Schiller rather than Lord Jobs on high, and a packed crowd hung on his every word, lapping up every new feature Apple had deigned to bestow upon us. The thing is it didn't take long, as essentially Apple has released a new phone that bears a very significant resemblance to the original version.

In fact, the only palpable difference in the chassis is the iPhone lettering is now mirrored in the same way as the Apple logo was on the last iteration.

Of course, with the new iPhone 3GS (the 'S' apparently standing for speed) we're getting a whole host of new features, essentially an improved processor (up to an apparent 600MHz according to a recent T-Mobile leak), a better 3MP camera with video recording and an upgrade to 32GB of memory.

The curious thing about the new iPhone release is not only that it doesn't bring a whole lot of new hardware in the latest upgrade (we're not talking the essential jump from 2G to 3G here) but it's also been released to coincide with the launch of the iPhone 3.0 firmware update.

That in itself brings a whole host of new extras to the iPhone game. Check out our in depth review of the new software to find out what snazzy extras Apple has brought to the party.

HEAT SIGNATURE FROM IPHONE

GOOD THINGS:

well, the things that I like iphone is that it can provide me a very quick information from short cut buttons. For examples, with mails button I can connect very quickly to my Gmail account and reply e-mails very quickly. For thoese who is investing in stock market, you can set up your own stocks screen
and it also provide graphically analysis for you. So you can quickly get that information on how stocks moves. The other things that I like is that Iphone has many cool application for free download. For example, games & maps also development tools for Iphone developers.

BAD THINGS:

I can't directly delete the application from my memory by clicking an X mark. Instead of that I have to go ahead and connect to internet connection and un-install it online through "install" applicaton. This is a waste of time and phone net is not that fast enough to do many applications in one day.
Also When I keep connecting to the internet the Iphone will get hotter. If you put an Iphone near your ear to call your friends after internet you will feel that heat coming off.

BUT OVER ALL ARE GREAT I LOVE IT SO I WILL GIVE 8/10 FOR IPHONE AT&T

The iPhone Decision - 3GS or iPhone 4?

I am going to take some time here to explain the differences between the iPhone 3GS that we all know and love and the glamorous new iPhone 4. In my opinion, it is quite clear that the 3GS and the 4 are solid products. The few faults in the news regarding the iPhone 4 are truly unimportant and in most cases, the problems that users come up with have nothing to do with what we now call "antenna-gate" or the grip of death that causes signal trouble. With regards to the signal trouble, you will not experience the issue at all in high or strong signal areas. Also, you need to be holding the iPhone in one specific way (usually in your left hand) in order to experience the issue.

I do not feel that these issues are relevant enough to sway anyone's decision on whether or not to buy the iPhone 4. Both the 3GS and the 4 are unlockable as long as you make sure not to update your software version via iTunes before the community figures out how to unlock the current version. You must wait to upgrade, but this very rarely means anything and a new unlock solution has always surfaced. So we say, for all iPhones, be patient with upgrades or you will lose your unlock.

All this being said, I am just going to throw it out there...I choose the 3GS!!

The iPhone 4 has FaceTime, a fabulous retina display, and a new faster processor.

Yep, that's about all it has over the 3GS.

The iPhone 3GS lacks FaceTime and sports a bit of a less remarkable screen, plus a moderately slower processor, is that really it? Yep! That's about it!

Not only this, the feel of the rounded 3GS in your hand is much much more comfortable than the squared corner feel of the iPhone 4. I think this is a KEY difference. It feels awkward to hold the new 4 in your hand for a phone call. The 3GS definitely feels more natural and is easier on the hand. You may not believe me, but THIS is the biggest difference in my mind. Aside from that, the screen and processor are differences to be noted, but the 4 is no Secretariat, if you know what I mean.

I tell everyone to wait on buying the iPhone 4. If all things were normal, I would suggest the upgrade, but with the tremendous premium you must pay to get one right now is not warranted unless you want a conversation starter for a phone.

If I weren't running the Android, much better than the iPhone iOS in most areas, then I would be using a 3GS. Again, just my opinion, hope it helps!!

Modest improvements--still lacking in areas

I've owned all iterations of the iPhone--and this is by far the one I was most impressed with. The switch from the 3g-- 3gS puts the previous 1st-- 3g jump to shame.

The 3gS variants are almost identical to the previous 3G iPhones. The major changes are NOT cosmetic in nature. The CPU has been improved from 412mhz to 600mhz, the ram has been doubled, a new graphics chip has been installed (providing OpenGL support), a new camera, and an internal compass has been built in (see more). Sadly, there is STILL no 3rd party routing software available--google maps is sufficient though.

Thoughts: 3G vs. 3G S

1. The battery life for both is rather similar. SLIGHT improvement in the 3G S.
2. The LCD digitizer (touchscreen) is practically the same with both editions--3G seems brighter.
3. Dimensions and case sizes are nearly identical--3G S is a bit thinner. The engravings on the back are different, but you're getting the same pretty case from the 3G.
4. Unaided GPS (without AT&T tower assistance) is just about as weak in both models... but the 3G S sports an internal compass, allowing for amazing accuracy and directional navigation while hiking and "street-walking". Hands down, the best new addition to the 3G S.
5. The new CPU and graphics chip combine for SIGNIFICANTLY decreased loading times when partaking in both graphically intensive gaming, and everyday activities (web browser loading). In games, this contributes to increased frame rates which are highly noticeable.
6. The internal camera has been boosted from a paltry 2mp to an adequate 3mp. It's not spectacular, but it's in line with current offerings. It features autofocus, which is a very nice addition. FINALLY, users have built-in video recording capability without going to extreme lengths.

What is disturbing about this model:

1. Do NOT let it overheat. Make sure you keep it charged in a cool location with sufficient airflow. This means DON'T put it on fabric. Don't overcharge, and be sure to inspect (check for overheating) regularly. The first time it overheats (it will be HOT to the touch), the battery output will GREATLY diminish (1/2 to 1/3 capacity), and should be changed through Apple.
2. There is NO apple-supplied application for checking and resetting the iPhone battery. This is provided for MacBooks, but not the iPod line
3. As with all iPhone models, buy a case--a Zagg InvisibleShield to protect it from scratches and the odd bump/bruise--or a silicone case--I highly recommend a screen protector. iPhones are FRAGILE (see below).
4. Internal components are flush with the case, and simple dents will cause components/features to fail.
5. DO NOT attempt to open ANY iPhone model for repair if you do not have experience--the cases/trim are prone to dents/bends, and you are likely to scratch/damage internal components if you attempt to replace the digitizer or battery yourself (the most common repairs). It is better to take them directly to Apple stores for repair.
6. Based on who you talk to, Apple will ONLY honor the 1 year manufacturer warranty if the iPhone is linked to an AT&T contract. If you have Jailbroken/Unlocked your iPhone, reset it to factory firmware and specifications before attempting to deal with Apple Repair.
7. No external HD capacity detected--camera only.
8. You have to deal with iTunes to activate and sync music.
9. Still no front-based camera for video-conferencing... very important to business users.

Hope this helped

attractive, efficient, creative, fun and demanding

I bought 4 of these, 3 for birthday gifts, and one for me. The birthday gifts were appropriated immediately by the recipients' 9 yr-olds and provided endless hours of travel play. Of course, they depleted the batteries and the parents did not have their cells, but everyone was happy. The presents were a huge success for everyone. I, however, have a longer learning curve than they do, and I find several usage problems. I'm struggling with understanding why the wi-fi internet worked so well before I initiated the 3G service and after, nothing. Itunes still tells me I don't have service. Apparently I must go through some complicated pc reconfiguring to get the 3G to work. Eventually I'm sure to resolve the problems, but it's irritating to not be able to use all the features immediately. Pros, the color touch screen, the apps I've seen on the gifts, and the Mophi Air I added when I saw how fast the battery was depleted are all impressive. About all I'm really familiar with on the phone is the directory which I spent many hours cleaning up after a "friend" synced with my business Outlook and left me a mess. Why can't I alphabetitze the "favorites" lising? I have a long list of things to still learn, but I like the phone almost as well as I did my last cell. Cons, the sound is hard to hear even with the volume on high in certain high noise situations.Lire l'avis complet...

Apple iPhone 16 g

Phone is great - internet browser is the best part - be advised that you MUST carry a data plan through AT&T, not just a voice plan - no need to pay more, just get the darned thing through AT&T!
r>The screen touch takes some getting used to and can be slow - no real menus so you have to be happy with the intuitive nature of the phone.

If you need a PDA and phone most, this combines the two wonderfully. The mapping and location feature is great for the traveler.

My husband is getting one of his own!Lire l'avis complet...

iPhone 3Gs - Improves on greatness/OS 3.0 makes a dream

Please also read my reviews of the iPhone 1.0 & 3G

I've owned a cellphone since 1992. I've always had a "top of the line phone" (I've always had AT&T = formerly Cingular = formerly BellSouth Mobility)

In 17 years having cellphones, I've had over 100 (Yes 100+) different models & makes

The iPhone uses GSM - an international standard technology for cellphones. Verizon & Sprint use CDMA (& variants) - this technology is found in very few places widespread outside the USA & Europe.

One minor hardware complaint about the iPhone has been addressed by Apple - the new iPhone 3GS has an oil resistant coating - making it easier to clean and less "smudgeable"

The 3.0 iPhone OS is very stable. The addition of copy & paste, video, & tethering make "jailbreaking" completely unnecessary (Tethering is promised by AT&T @ a later date)

I haven't had signal issues w/ many phones, it's always clumsy interfaces.

Every phone I've ever had, no matter how long I've had it - I've had a problem placing a call on hold & answering another call or joining a call into a 3-way. The iPhone interface is so well designed features are clearly labeled - I don't have that problem

I had an HP iPaq 6515 - I hated the keyboard. (Which is similar in design to Palm & Blackberry smartphones w/ physical keyboards) Physical keyboards on cellphones are hard to see, crowded w/ characters & difficult to use w/ my large fingers. iPhone users should try the pogo stylus if they have issues, but give it it time - you will become proficient within a few weeks

The camera on my iPhone 1.0 & 3G was great. The camera on the new iPhone is stunning. I see myself taking even more pictures. I use the HP iPrint app to print my photos out. The side by side comparison is noticeable from the 1st gen iPhone camera. The viewfinder & capture buttons are crystal clear. It's easy to transfer photos from iPhone to computer for editing

Unlike most smartphones - that have Windows Mobile, the iPhone has an intuitive interface that's easy to understand & navigate. There's no need to read a manual; it's just simple to understand. A Blackberry makes me ask, "where do I go?" & "what do I do?""

The iPhone 3GS has a faster processor (600Mhz vs 433Mhz) & more RAM (256MB vs 128MB). This makes the iPhone 3GS feel significantly snappier.

Because an iPhone uses standard iPod sync & charge cables, accessories are easy to find.

Battery life is very good & improved from the previous generations of iPhones; even when utilizing power draining features like Wifi & Bluetooth.

I can actually use the calculator on an iPhone, unlike on other cell phones where you have to figure out corresponding keys

The Google Maps feature is amazing w/ the ability to use satellite data, the addition of the compass & GPS pinpoints your location w/ amazing accuracy & even better than dedicated GPS devices. The GPS integration w/ LocateMe is awesome

My complaints:

- Edge data network is acceptable & what I have to connect to the most often, but I still have to pay for 3G data access = $10 more each month

- FM transmitters don't work well due to interference

- AT&T has limited some features (at least initially)

The new iPhone is definitely worth the upgrade. I now have enough room to back up the important parts of my hard drive to the iPhone, thanks to the 32GB capacity. I have right at 8GB of music & 6GB of pictures, text message, apps, etc - so the 32GB model will come in handy for me

It comes in 16 & 32 gig sizes.

IPhone 2g

I love the iPhone. When it works it works well. I had to purchase a new iPhone recently because the wifi failed. This was my second iPhone with a failed wifi. Without the wifi the phone is not as wonderful as with the wifi and my track record is not good with iphone wifi. Two phones and two failed wifi, hopefully three is a charm. When my second iphone wifi went out I was out of warranty, so I did not get the easy replacement. This is what you should know. When you first by an iphone and a 2 year contract, you get a warranty on the phone. If the phone hardware fails within the warranty period they will replace it. However when they replace it the hardware warranty clock does not restart at 0, it continues based on the original warranty. If after the original warranty runs out the hardware failed even if it is 4 months after they will not replace the phone. So my wifi on my first phone went out within 3 months of the warranty end period. I got a replacement for free. The wifi on my second phone went out after 3 1/2 months, but my original warranty was over and Apply only warrants the hardware for 90 days. So basically out of luck. They will replace it at a reasonable price, but they only warrant it for 90 days. So my only beef is with the reliability of the wifi. Everything else is great. It is my single most important device.Lire l'avis complet...

Iphone 16Gb 2G

This smart phone is fine but has some limitation like Bluetooth A2P (Yo have to add an additional hardware to have this capability of stereo hands free), copy-paste and video recording is not allowed; you can not change the internal memory or add more memory, you can not send and receive MMS, even you can not install program because there is a lock on internal memory.

So then, why Iphone is very exciting and a lot of people is looking for one?.

Now you are be able to jailbreak the internal memory of this smart phone these means that you can install wherever program you want, also there is a SDK development suite to create your own application converting your smart phone to more intelligent phone, j eje je e with endless applications. Also, this is a very fancy phone with a good looking design. The optic of the 2Mpixels camera is really good also the navigator is one of the best ones on Smart phones.

Finally all the updates for Iphone are going very very slowly, I would like to think that APPLE is trying to take care of the quality of the product.

Well hopefully some of the comments here will be helpful to you.

From my point of view Xperia X1 from Sonyericsson and N97 from Nokia are the best ones and the prices are very close to Iphone.

Best regards.
