The super drive comes damaged without any notices. But the overal quality its very good for a 7 year computer.

I receive the item with the super drive damaged. But the price for replacing it was 15 bucks. It works fine. I can install it the lates OS El Capitan and run very well. I can't use the apple tv as a secondary monitor but I still be able to transfer the video to it. If you clean it its look very good with its white finish. Everything works fine and I want to use that as a tool for creating web sites and other graphis works.Lire l'avis complet...

It's the best selling Mac of all time for a reason.

While the base specs are old by 2016 standards, the Mid 2010 MacBook (White Unibody) still manages to do the most basic of tasks (e.g. browsing the Internet, office apps, light video editing) with little effort, especially when fully upgraded (8-16 GB RAM, SSD, clean OS X install). The polycarbonate unibody construction gives it a solid, durable feel while managing to maintain the signature clean look typical of Apple products. The keyboard, despite not having a backlight, is a joy to type on, and the trackpad is still the best you can find on any notebook, with intuitive gestures. Battery life is a realistic 5-7 hours with average use. The 10-hour battery life claimed by Apple can only be achieved if AirPort and Bluetooth are switched off, the brightness is as low as possible, power saving options are on, and light apps like word processing are used.

There are a few known issues with this notebook, though. Chief among them is the rubber bottom: it can get dirty even with light use, and may unglue itself when the laptop is running hot. Fortunately it can be easily cleaned with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, and there is still a repair program available (as of this writing) should it need replacement. The top shell tends to get small hairline cracks near the hinge; a common issue. This can be easily rectified by covering it up with a case. It also tends to run very hot when performing more intensive tasks like gaming; a cooling pad is strongly recommended. Lastly, there is a noticeable lack of ports (FireWire, HDMI), though the Mini DisplayPort can output video and audio signals, and first/third party adapters and cables are available.

Gaming performance is average; while Mac gaming is a lot better today than it was years ago, it still has room for improvement. Some games have very poor performance on OS X. Valve's Source Engine-based games, for example, tend to stutter regardless of what graphics settings you choose, though perform admirably well on medium to high settings in Windows 7 via Boot Camp. Games from 2007 and older can be played on high to ultra settings in Boot Camp as well (with the exception of Crysis 1, which runs fine on low to medium). While the Boot Camp partition can be upgraded to Windows 10, it's not worth the hassle as you will encounter a lot of driver issues.

Despite some drawbacks, this is a solid notebook overall; an excellent choice for students, casual users, and anybody interested in learning how to use a Mac on a budget. Upgrading it to its fullest extent will give you a better experience compared to newer Windows-based laptops for the same price.

Pros:
+ Solid construction
+ Upgradeable to 16 GB RAM, solid state drive, and the latest version of OS X (10.11 El Capitan as of this writing)
+ Decent battery life
+ Acceptable gaming performance via Boot Camp
+ Great keyboard
+ Excellent trackpad

Cons:
- Rubber bottom gets dirty easily, may unglue when hot (known issue)
- Hairline cracks on the top case near the hinges (known issue)
- Runs very hot when gaming or any intensive task
- Lacks FireWire and HDMI ports
- Boot Camp partition upgradeable to Windows 10, but will have driver issues

A good choice, but for a comfortable work you need some upgrade. Good quality at a great price.

The screen is in excellent condition. Brightness with a margin. And for some reason keys with inscriptions P and I are interchanged ??? The battery did not even need to be changed. A total of 246 complete recharges (86% capacity). On the HDD was preinstalled Yosemite beta. With 2Gb of memory and HDD, this MacBook is very slow. Especially because of insufficient RAM. If you put more RAM and faster drive, then you can install a modern operating system. I installed 8Gb RAM and 240Gb SSD, and this greatly accelerated the system. I hastened to remove Yoseimite beta c HDD and tried to install the release of Yosemite, or El Capitan, or Sierra from the flash drive - and could not install any of them. There were different errors after the installation. Then I performed the first stage of installing Sierra on a disk from a Macbook from another computer, and then transferred the disk to this MacBook and finished the second stage of installation on it. But Sierra worked with some lags in Safari, if you scroll through pages with a lot of graphics. So I updated Sierra to High Sierra from Apple appstore. The update went smoothly. During the first stage of the installation of High Sierra, the installer done the firmware upgrade. After installation, there were disproportionate fonts, and wifi disappeared mode n, only the modes a, b, g remained. I performed the reset nvram and the fonts again became proportional and smooth. And after clearing the caches of programms and the system, n mode wifi reappeared. I use GMYLE usb Bluetooth 4.0 (bcm20702) and the Continuity Activation Tool, to enable Continuity on this MacBook. Now everything works on this MacBook quickly and with Continuity capabilities on High Sierra, which is the newest OS from Apple. Therefore, I recommend buying this product, making it the necessary upgrade, and installing the High Sierra on it, because it is fast and the most modern. But do not let my mistake. Do not remove Yosemite directly from the HDD, it's best to immediately upgrade it to Sierra, or High Sierra. Probably this is due to the fact that this macbook requires firmware update, so that you can install newer operating systems.
I publish a photo of the received goods and confirmation of my words.

great kid or average user laptop

if you want to get started with Apple (as I) this is a good, economical choice, though it was hard to find and is out of stock now. Sorry. :) This does NOT have USB 3.0, but can not be expected for price ($130). Has 250Gb hard drive, adequate. I replace the 2Gb RAM with the max of 8Gb (Amazon for $40), so $170 gives me an Apple; C grade means a couple of cracks, blemishes, but nothing bad. AND a white colored laptop is different and doesn't show DUST. LOL
I wonder if Ebay sends a review request in a year/2years/3years? :)

Pretty good, entry level computer.

I had been eyeing some Macs for a good bit before I broke down and bought one. I was a Windows user and had never had any experience with Mac (other than my iPhone... iPod.. and other miscellaneous gadgets); After reading the "Everything Mac" pamphlet and reading up on some Mac forums, I easily figured out all of the shortcuts and whatnot. Easy to use and to pick up on: simplified usage at its finest! I'll probably replace my beefed up HP desktop (used for gaming... but not too much time for that now) with a Mac... and will eventually get a Macbook Pro to replace this entry level laptop.
This computer is great for people like me: writing, music creating/ arranging, and the likes. Enough memory, quick. I've only had three other laptops and I like this one much better than all of them.

Not just for beginners, this is a power house laptop.

I've had this computer for 2 and a half years, and what I hate about it is the way it comes out as a beginner computer. It does fit everybody, except most people buy it who are not tech-savy and are switching from Windows.

I do some pretty decent gaming on this machine, lots of video editing with Final Cut and Motion 5, even some developing with XCode/Dashcode/Quartz. It runs the Adobe Creative Suite good too. I'm writing this on it as my main computer out of a few at the end of 2012 with the original specs too.

I'm telling you to buy it. Really. It doesn't have a Retina display, but it will surely go up to 8 GB of ram, it'll love a Solid State drive, it'll run Mountain Lion and probably higher than that, it looks great still, and it can do you anything.

Late 09 MacBook. Awesome Machine

Bought this because I wanted a machine I could throw in my bag and not have to worry much about. Didn't want to bring my newer and bigger MBP out. I upgraded this to a 500gb SSD and maxed out the RAM at 8 gigs. It sails along really smoothly and the LED backlit screen has a very vibrant picture. The one I got cost about $200 (a few bucks less) and was is in really great shape. Doing the upgrades was easy. Found a great deal on the Samsung SSD for $140 and the 8 gig Ram upgrade was about $60 bucks. In total I spent $400 bucks and have a great travel MacBook for journaling and other writing when I am on the train or out and about. If you are looking for a decent machine for general computing then you will not go wrong with this one. if you upgrade it then you can decently run some photo editing on it as well and it isn't too bad.Lire l'avis complet...

An affordable entry-level Macbook that runs Sierra like a champ!

I bought this Macbook (note -- this is a basic Macbook, NOT a Macbook Pro, but it's been jacked up to 4GB RAM from the original spec of 2GB, so there's definitely a boost.) a few months ago. It came with OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" installed, but after a bit of reading, and a few OS upgrade cycles, I finally decided to give Sierra a whirl on this machine. It's my second Mac device, after recently buying a 2012 iPad 4 Retina, which runs iOS, not macOS. As a "forever Windows" guy, I was quite impressed with the responsiveness, reliability, and performance of a 2009 machine running a 2016/17 OS. This is, as is often touted, due to the tight integration of hardware and OS, entirely controlled by Apple -- but to the average end user, they really don't care. I most likely would not use this as a high-end multitasking platform to run the latest products from Adobe, but as a general purpose, low-cost entry to the Mac world, I'm quite happy with this. I might upgrade it to 8 GB -- undecided as yet. And yes, this is one of the last Macs to be user-upgradeable i.e. you can open up the machine yourself to upgrade or replace components.Lire l'avis complet...
