MICAH - short but ohhhhh so sweet

I am a long time fan of Laurell K. Hamilton's, I have yet to miss a book by this author. Anita and Micha are just the perfect combination for this job, A Grave Yard Reanimation that yields some interesting surprises! This book shows more insight into Micha's 'beginings' and has made him an even more solid 'player' in Anita's world. It set the stage for future 'twists and surprises'. In prior books, the long term characters 'pasts' unfolded with each new book, Micah however never got his due - That had to be addressed and this book does just that. Micah is not a 'fly by night' in the continuing Vampire Hunter series, and with this book, Hamilton has set the stage to assure that Micha is in it for the long haul or at least until Hamilton finds a reason to see to his distruction and cause us to mourn a character that we can now feel we really know. Is it erotic - you bet, as has been the case since the very first book gave solid hints on 'things to come'. Short or not, don't miss this Book, it sheds a new light on Micah that will add 'flavor' to future books in this series. I read Micah. It was a short novel compared to others, but truly worth the read - and the sneak preview of Danse Macabre (just came out) - was a nice bonus and peaked my curiostity, just right. We all have our favorites in the Vampire Hunter Series, this may not be my favorite, but I would not have missed reading it for the world.Lire l'avis complet...

Quite a Let Down In This Series - Micah Offers Little

I have enjoyed each of the books in Ms. Hamilton's Anita Blake series, but this one was a major let down. There was very little content to this book.

First, it was super short. More like a few chapters rather than an actual novel. Second, no real action anywhere except between the sheets. While I've grown accustomed to the over played sexuality in these books, I look forward to Anita performing her job! That was almost an afterthought in this book. And lastly, I felt there was really no point to this book.

Perhaps pressure to produce something for her readers, promted a release of a novel that should have actually been a part of her next book. Guess I won't know until I get a chance to read Danse Macabre.

Micah by Laurell K. Hamilton is average

I finally read this book after waiting a month after buying it. I have been burned before on the Anita Blake series though i have enjoyed her Merry Gentry books. I don't mind the erotica, but i do prefer to have some plot and i definitely get annoyed with all the angsty drama relationship dwelling Anita who cries all the time and not seeing her on the "job" as much. I bought this book in the hopes that it would be like the earlier books and deal more with the supernatural and less erotica/crying Anita. It does deal with the supernatural and her "job" as an animator, but you do have the angsty stuff, though not as much crying woe-is-me that turned me off in books after Obsidian Butterfly. It is enjoyable for fans of both the "old" and "new" Anita as it is one of her better efforts recently even though it is a very fast and short read.

If you are a fan of Micah, then you will love this book obviously. You get more on his back history and how he was "changed". Unfortunately, with the mystery of Micah's history changed and more revelation of his character, he seems more like a vanilla version of Richard the werewolf. The reference of using the word "meat" to describe a certain body part was a major turn off (not to mention hilarious when mentioning it to my husband). There is not much revelation about Anita though your lead to believe that there will be. You get some suspense and a twist at the end. For me it got more interesting once the characters all got to the cemetary (which is half way into the book). Anita became more interesting and likeable in her "job". Before that, her way of dealing with Micah and their relationship just made me wish he would just dump her and her go into therapy. I think Ms. Hamilton believes that having Anita getting mad all the time at her "boyfriends" and "fighting" over little things makes the relationship more believeable and shows how tough Anita is, but actually, it does the opposite and just wish someone would tell her to get over herself. You get some more insight into Anita's powers that is NOT the succubi stuff which was nice. And the way she ended it suprised me. I won't say how as it would spoil it, but very realistic.

Overall the story is average. It is sitting in the middle of the "old" anita and the "new" anita stories. It is a very short and fast read which i actually found pleasant, but i would not recommend paying full price for this book. Buy it used. Eight dollars plus tax is not worth it. Half price or less...sure.

Micah

Over all I liked this book. It was a good read and held my attention like all of her books, but......I do have to say I was disappointed in the length of the book. It was only 245 pages long.I was also a little disappointed that this book did not seem to continue on with the story line where it left off in the last novel and short story. It was more like this was a side note. But let me state again that I did like this book and will probably read it again at least once!!! I hope she keeps them coming !!!Lire l'avis complet...

The title is what the book is about - Anita and Micah

The book was really short, especially considering the length of most Anita Blake books. I thought the plotline was good; but for those who prefer the beginning of the series when it's mostly action and little personal relationship, then you probably wouldn't like this book as much. The story is a development of Micah and Anita's relationship; you learn more about Micah's past and him and Anita are able to get closer. Overall I thought it was a quick, fun read.Lire l'avis complet...

Micah purchase review

I purchased this book because it's the latest in the series by Laurell K. Hamilton. There aren't many books available that portray vampires and werewolves. This series is just fantastic. The heroine, Anita Blake, is very well written and the stories are very interesting. They do have a "steamy" side that most guys may not know about. I'm sure the ladies already know about handsome and well-built men. Who cares if they are a vampire or a werewolf! I have not read this story yet, I am re-reading the previous 12 or so novels. What appeals to me the most is the characters grow. Anita Blake's attitudes and physical abilities have changed from the first novel on. I have looked for these books at used bookstores and they are always sold out! Good luck finding one at a yard sale. If you like a little blood, guts, sex, love, horror maybe you might want to check these books out.Lire l'avis complet...

Quick and Easy

I am becoming an avid Laurell K Hamilton fan. I have read all the Meredith Gentry series. I haven't started the Anita Blake series. When I read Micah I thought it was entertaining. Usually her books have summaries of the continuing plot but this book was just about Anita and Micah. So it was refreshing not to have to reread summaries. It was a quick easy read and yet satisfying only in a way that Laurell can do.Lire l'avis complet...

telling as next in a great series.

The series is definitely a thrilling read. Knowing Micah was out there but unable to go out for it put me on to ebay and finding a copy that could be mailed to me. The book is definitely a must in the series and the ebay find was easy and less expensive than going to the bookstore, including shipping. As a teacher, I can tell you that reading a used book is as thrilling as reading as reading a new book.Lire l'avis complet...
