Patsy realized she had married an abusive husband. He had never struck her but his abuse was emotional and he threw things when his temper raged. They had a beautiful little boy and she knew after the second episode of abuse, that amounted to her and her parents being threatened, she left town. She really had no destination but thought a small town would be a good place to hide from Will. Her son, Billy , had a high fever and she had to get some baby aspirin for him. She was practically broke and managed to get caught shoplifting aspirin. The Deputy, Justin Adams, was a sucker for a beautiful woman and she took off . He caught her after she ran out of gas and was stranded. The story goes on and Patsy refuses to reveal her past and why she is on the run. Justin gets in deeper and deeper. This story is fiction but there are similar accounts. Justin was afraid to learn the truth about her past and it took getting reports at the Sheriff's office to get Justin to seriously press Patsy about her past. This is a 5 star book.
