Probably Ceremonial

Anasazi Ruins of the Southwest in Color provides very good general information on Anasazi art, architecture and general way of life. The first 70 pages of the book are full of valuable information and provide a good understanding of Anasazi culture, art and Architecture.

Past the first 70 pages, the authors get a little more vague and extremely repetitive taking 100 pages to say what could have been said in 40. Discussing one tower, the phrase "Probably ceremonial" was used at least five times in one paragraph. Indeed, the phrases "Probably ceremonial," and "Percolate through the sandstone to enhance the stream below," were so common it became a running joke to read them. The authors also felt the need to explain the function and design of a kiva every single time they mentioned one.

I did enjoy the book, and if only for the first 70 pages, it was well worth the buy and the read!
