3 decades later and I still rock to RAVEN!

I was a child of the 70's and rock was a big part of it, then along came the 80's and "Heavy Metal"! Raven was one of the earliest metal bands I listened to alongside the "Big 4" and one of the first to crossover to America in the british metal movement, what we now know as NWOBHM. They were quite the underrated band however. Their music contained elements of rock of course and punk thrown in with their fledging metal compositions. Wild guitar riffs and lots of screaming, with rudimentary drum work.

All in all though it worked out, at least for me anyway. At times it almost seemed that even they didn't know what they were doing, BUT that was the great thing about the new genre at the time. There was so much experimentation going on that there were a lot of different approach's to metal or better known as sub-genres. I'd consider Raven to be an early approach to math/metalcore.

This CD covers their first three albums, "Rock Until You Drop", "Wiped Out", and "All for One", which imo are the best of their 12 albums. It's definately a great buy for the early metal and punk enthusiasts like myself.
