Intermittant Problem Turned Into Quit
Now I know why the previous owner unloaded this dog. FM tuner worked for a couple days before an intermittent problem became evident, including signal loss and loud pops. It began working properly again a couple hours later. On-again off-again same issue for a week until it (the FM section) stopped working altogether.
I have a lot of hi-fi audio experience, having worked a few years in the field. Have owned this model and other similar Adcom preamp-tuners in the past. My analysis is that some people disclose everything, while others pass their problems along to the next guy. The price one pays for being the former, as am I, means being the one who takes the loss. Has happened all too often on this site. Two other sites run by enthusiasts who understand the equipment and want to maintain standing in the audio community have proved to be sources for much more reliable equipment. Always a crap-shoot here, is my experience.Lire l'avis complet...

Pre-Amp Tuner with Remote capability minus phono input. Nice sound stage.
I was pleasantly surpised when my Adcom GTP-450 arrived. Its a good looking Pre-Amp Tuner with remote control capability. I soon connected it to some medium range equipment and quickly noticed a better than expected sound stage both wide and deep with decent separation of instruments. At good volume there was musical presence that felt right to me, no channel or tuner bleed through, no buzz or hum, just music sandwiched by silence.
The only con that comes to the fore is an absence of phono input but I have some higher end equipment for vinyl when the mood strikes. My musical diet is typically CD's so I will keep this in the line up. If you have need for a phono input and are not prepared to get a separate phono-stage preamp to augment this preamp this one then it is not for you. But if you listen exclusively to CD's or would like a more esoteric setup by adding a separate phono-stage preamp, then the Adcom GTP-450 is likely to pleasantly surprise you too!Lire l'avis complet...
Tape 1 Input not working
I bought this Item due to my knowledge of the Adcom product and insofar as sound quality it’s what I expected. This thing is amazing sounding. I bought it used E pluribus unum right. Tape one doesn’t work. That was the input I wanted to use my Bluetooth receiver on. That’s on tape two and my iPod is excluded from the home system due to a lack of inputs. Seller said the item was tested. It does power on It does sound great with my CD player and my Turntable… Bluetooth meh… but tape one doesn’t work. Fast ship 3 stars Lire l'avis complet...

Great tuner/preamp combo for the money
This is a replacement for an identical unit I owned for 24 years until the left channel gave out. Good quality two-channel stereo sound production at an easy-on-the-household-budget cost. It lacks a direct phono input but the turntable works fine using a separate preamp module and plugging it into the Aux input.Lire l'avis complet...

Nice entry pre-amp
This a good entry Pre-Amp / tuner It is all digital, and built well. Even though it is not up there with the High End Pre-Amps it will do well in a mid level system. It is Adcom quality.

But One!
Very nice, older preamp. Just the ticket for running a CD player through! Makes almost no noise, so during breaks in the music all you hear is silence. The volume control through the remote is tricky, a tiny bit goes a long way. Can't review the tuner section, as I have it in my basement were there is no reception, period! The stereo separation is great, and bass and treble controls are getting hard to find. Great for oldies like me that will never buy a downloaded song. This rocks my CD collection! Lire l'avis complet...

A good, hard-to-find tuner/pre-amp for a quality stereo setup.
First, regardless of the title, the GTP-450 is a Tuner/Pre-Amp, not an amplifier.
Definitely a niche product for those who want equipment that's a step above an integrated receiver, but have an occasional need for an am/fm tuner, and don't want to spend thousands to get good quality sound. In combination with a quality power amp, the GTP-450 gives you all the essentials of a quality rig at a reasonable price. For vinyl records you'll need a phono preamp, but there are plenty of inputs for everything else, smooth tone controls, and a good remote. I've worn out one (lightning strike), and was glad I could find one to replace it.Lire l'avis complet...
usps failed at shipping
have not had time to install it yet. shipping, not the previous owners issue took way too long as it was a 2 day shipment but took a week to travel less than 100 miles. usps is failing.

Nice unit.
It works fine. I have the tuner hooked to an outside antennae, so plenty of stations. Only one set of outputs to amplifier is a little limiting. But for the price it is a clean, pure sounding signal.
Yah. Real good then.
Great shape. I knew what it was before I purchased. I have experience with them.
