Not sure what the problem was... More just an FYI

I purchased the socket 939 version of this processor to replace a Venice core 3200+ that I had had in my system for 3+ years. The system booted up fine and ran various programs fine, but for some reason, when I would request an operation that involved heavy data transmission over ANY usb port on my computer, it would lock my system up. Initially, I had thought it was due to other new hardware I had installed, so for a couple of days I basically reinstalled everything one by one to restore it back to the original configuration. Didn't solve it. I even replaced my power supply with a newer one, tried messing with USB jumper settings, monitored all system voltages including USB, etc... I honestly tried EVERYTHING possible. I finally (against logical explanation) decided to put my Venice 3200+ back in and it solved the problem. I then reinstalled the other new hardware (2 GB Gskill PC3200 memory, an HD4670 video card) and everything ran perfectly. Couldn't get the USB to lock the system no matter what I tried (and I tried everything multiple times)

To this day, I don't really understand what the problem was... I suspect some sort of conflict was taking place with the way this processor's memory controller was operating... Maybe there was some sort of defective quality on the specific processor I was using. Just doesn't make any sense, because I ran multiple stress tests (Orthos CPU loader which uses the prime engine, various graphics benchmarks, memory tests, multimedia programs, etc) and that all ran fine with not a single error ever, so the processor itself was "fine" as far as I could tell. Just the USB issue.

So I suppose this review is more just an FYI for everyone reading. Take the rating I give it with a grain of salt, because I have no way of knowing whether it was the specific processor I had or just a random conflict with my specific system versus an inherent issue with this processor and my system.

BTW, my mobo is an NF4ST-A9 and I ran all sorts of different hardware with it to no avail with respect to the USB problem. Gskill PC3200 memory, corsair XMS PC3200 memory, a Radeon X800GT vid card, an HD4670 vid card (and all sorts of different drivers), a rosewill 450 watt power supply, and a corsair 650 watt power supply.Lire l'avis complet...

Excellent value

This processor performs surprisingly well for an "entry level" dual core socket 939 CPU. It is one of the lower priced models and as such represents an excellent value.

Great replacement CPU

I originally had a Athlon 64 3500+ it suffered with windows wit only having one core after i got this and installed it there was a massive improvement of having two physical cores.

Excellent upgrade for single core gaming systems

I had Athlon 64 3200+ single core cpu, and I felt that my 2005 system was cpu-limited, the cpu was bottleneck in video game performance, whenever intensive AI, particle, physics calculations were going on, the frame rate dropped sharply even though the video card Radeon HD 4800 256 bit 512 mb is more than capable rendering the scene. Second core is a must for modern games like Skyrim, or the video card will not work at its full potential and waste time waiting on a busy cpu.

Installing this dual core cpu was effortless, it did not even require any BIOS updates for my ASUS A8N-E mobo. The temperature is fine with the stock cooler, 40 C idle, up to 55 C at heavy dual core load.

Now with this dual core cpu gaming experience has drasticly improved, open world games like Skyrim run very smooth, I'm even tempted to increase video settings; cpu intensive games like Company of Heroes are now performing nearly twice as fast in heavy battle scenes. While previously 'I lagged through' big battle scenes, now I can actually play them.

Overall, a great buy. I feel I have balanced the system components, and now they all can be pused to work with their full potential. This means that with this purchase I have actually 'unlocked' a part of my video card that I did not use in order to minimize cpu load.
Also the system is now capable of new utilities.
Previously unplayable games, unwatchable HD videos. Also it dobles the video processing performance which is important if you engage in video editing. Ofcourse it even has some benefits in everyday browsing experience and OS navigation.
Im getting all this serious performance increase for 35$, which is just a small fraction of what all the other system components are worth total.
This is the most extreme price/performance ratio I have ever recognized.

Came with bent pins.

Overall the CPU does work and performs about as expected. Sadly the CPU came with bent pins and it was almost impossible to get the CPU in. After about 20 minutes of being ever so gentle, I finally got the CPU in its socket. Pain in the butt. But none the less, it does work.Lire l'avis complet...

Right product, excellent store

3 weeks later it still works like it is supposed to. Since CPUs usually are not the problem when a system fails I am perfectly confident buying a (tested) CPU from this store. It is easy and friendly and the packaging is solid. I got one before at some OTHER STORE on ebay and the it was wrapped in bubble wrapped in an envelope. It arrived with some prongs bent.

ALSO: I first ordered the wrong socket and though the site says no returns the operator swapped me out for the right one no problem. I will definitely shop here in the future and recommend it to friends

An excellent, value for money purchase.

I approached this purchase with trepidation. Buying a second user processor at a bargain price is not without its fears. I needn't have worried though, the processor was exactly as described. After updating the bios software on the computer motherboard I plugged it in, fitted the cooling fan an hey presto! It worked flawlessly.
