Good Book overall

If you liked the show Longmire, you will want to read the books. This is Book One in the series. Lou Diamond Phillips played Henry Standing Bear spot on! an excellent western crime suspense author.He draws you into the story

I am new to mystery type fiction and am trying several authors. I found this title and noted that the author was a westerner so I gave him a try. Ebay had excellent prices, a hardback for less than I would pay for a paperback.

The book was an outstanding read. Good atmosphere and local color...totally believable. Good character development.

Great dialogue

I love this author! His writing style is wonderful. His characters are interesting and the dialogue is fantastic!

Excellent book that started the Longmire series

If you watched the series on Netflix, you need to read this book ! You will be hooked. As with any book, far more exciting than the tv series.

Good Read

Craig Johnson has a great sense of humor. I actually bought it as a gift to get someone else started on the Longmire series.

Like letterbox...

Book is better than the tv series as events and people are often left out, and relationships between characters can be different. It's like letterbox. You get more!

The Cold Dish

Having already read this book, and many others in the series by Craig Johnson, I wanted to be able to share a copy with friends an family. (This is the second copy that I bought, as the other is a signed one, that I wanted to keep)
His writing is wonderful, a bit of history, local culture, mystery and a just a bit of comedy to spice it up. His characters are richly described in a non wordy way. You just KNOW these people. Great writer!

I highly recommend that a reader reads them in order of publication (if you like this first one). As it is important to the repeating character relationships to understand what happened in a prior book.Lire l'avis complet...
