A Cup of Christmas Tea

I purchased this book for my granddaughter that has been an avid reader since she learned how to read. The message of this book is an important one for everyone to learn and remember. Keeping the elderly in our thoughts is great but taking the time to call, write and most important, visit them is something that we can do to make their life more meaningful and bright. My granddaughter would visit with me during my Mother's 6 year goodbye with Alzheimer's disease. We grew fond of many of the people that were with her in the assisted living facility and still visit them. My Mother is the one that told me about this book several years ago when she had heard a reading of it on the radio.
Tom Hegg made this story very real and very poignant so that it hit home with each word. Having it signed by the author was a bonus. My granddaughter (16 years old) has also become quite endeared with real English tea parties. She and several of her friends have created several parties that were just beautiful. I purchased sets of china teacups and saucers, a teapot and vintage napkins among other small dishes and serving pieces as her Christmas present. The book put it all in perspective and added the touch that brought the gift and the meaning of it all together. Keeping the young carrying on tradition, sharing memories and honoring the elderly by listening and caring with love is one thing as adults we can encourage.

Draws you in with expectations of soothing warmth!

Thomas Hegg delivers! This is a heart warming tale of the true spirit of Christmas, set to poetry. It stirs memories of Christmases past we all have while creating a longing to recapture those very precious times gone by and carry them into Christmas present.

This book has a very special meaning for me, for a dear friend read it for many years during our Christmas Eve gatherings with our family and close friends. It had been many years since I had the opportunity to hear, "A Cup of Christmas Tea" read, for I have been celebrating Christmas in another state. Happily, I now have a copy of my own to read to loved ones during our Christmas Eve gatherings. To make it even more special, my newly acquired copy was signed by the author and I wish to thank him!

Heartwarming Holiday Tradition

Wonderful holiday tradition - reading this every year. Heartwarming and brings me back in time to when I would visit a couple elderly ladies I knew while I was in high school. Their way of making me feel special in their home (which was very much like the one described by the author) included a cup of tea and cookies and just chatting to catch up. SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL & ORIGINAL, TREAT YOURSELF!

Such a beautiful heart warming story inviting us all to see older people as still younger people on the inside. I have bought this book for my sisters, my daughter and others. Everyone loves this story! I've even read it to my daughter's first graders who also appreciated it!

A Cup of Christmas Tea is a wonderful gift

I purchased Tom Hegg's book, A Cup of Christmas Tea because a librarian told me about it. This was about 15 years ago and I bought one at that time. It is a simple, touching story about an elderly aunt who wrote a letter to her nephew saying it would be nice if he came to have a cup of Christmas tea with her. After putting the visit off, but feeling that he needed to go, the visit was a special time in his life of past memories and what his aunt still had to offer. Today I am that elderly aunt and purchased this book to send to my nieces and nephews for Christmas. The book I received was in excellent condition (like new) and considerably less in cost than buying a new one. Reading this lovely Christmas story has become a cherished holiday treat.

A simple, beautiful fictional poem about an elderly woman’s graceful embrace of aging & the blessing & inspiration she is (& always has been) to her family. Told from the perspective of her great-nephew who visits her during the holidays only out of obligation. He’s reluctant because he doesn’t want to see her differently than the vibrant person she’s always been. He finds her LOVELY & is greatly blessed by their visit. The poem is beautifully illustrated on quality paper & is a joy to read. Newer versions of the book are smaller in size. I saw the book when looking at teacups and became interested in the cup and the book. I purchased the book and was delighted when I read the story. It has a message for all of us that in our busy times at Christmas, we should remember to take a little time out and receive a great blessing when we visit with an older relatives or friends.
