Lost book found

I had bought this version in the 80s. In my many moves I lost it. I love the illustrations so much. I was very excited to see it on e-bay and bought it immediately. So very glad I did.

Nice holiday book

I bought this book, wanting a new (to me) Christmas book. I've heard that the audio tape of Dylan Thomas reading the book in the '50's is especially good too. I liked the stories--his descriptions of relatives and his view of the season from a little boys perspective really does bring back memories of Christmas as a child sees it. Really nice.

I was so excited to get this book! I work in a library and saw it in the closed stacks, but I wanted my own copy. I had heard of it but never read it. The story is wonderful, but I fell in love with the beautiful illustrations by Trina Schart Hyman which greatly enhance the story and takes us back to a kinder,gentler time. The story and illustrations are wonderful. I had borrowed it from the Library and kept renewing it. Time to buy my own copy. It is such a heartfelt and warm story, a true Christmas classic.
