A Very Somber CD

The singer's voice is sooo soft and smooth, it's almost angelic. It's very similar in format to most any latin mass cd that you've listned to, but it has a distinct difference that instead of praying or rather chanting in future tense, it's a chant that is in present tense, as if our Judge were stating in front of us now. It's a plea of forgivness and salvation to all. For example, "agnus dei" is followed by a plea to have mercy on us and delivering us to heaven. It comes with a very handy CD insert that has all of the lyrics translated into several languages, this is very handy to me since I am not very fluent in latin, and I only know word for word the latin mass itself. I could follow along to a certain point without it, but the translation is very neat. I like some tracks better than others, just as I like some tracks better that others in the gregorian chants but that's just me. Her voice is a little high pitch so it might get a bit much after a while, or I might just be accustomed to listening to the very deep, manly voices of the gregorian monks and my local tridentine mass musician, but if this happens to you just take a brake and change to regular chants for a while.
In conclusion, some with think this CD is rather morbid or depressing in the fact that we are pleading for our lives and our souls to be saved by our Lord, however, this is much a reality. If we do not accept this, then we will never be able to sanctify ourselves and save our soul. THE BEST PART ABOUT THIS CD IS THE VOICE OF THE SINGER, IT'S SOOO PEACEFUL AND REFRESHING. I would highly recommend for anybody who has previously owned and likes Gregorian chants, hymms, latin/tridentine mass audio. etc...it may not be as impressive for somebody who is a "beginner" to listen to chants, as they would not be able to fully appreciante the mssgs of the hymms, but you never know, they might just fall in love with the voice. Trip to another world

The CD arrived in perfect condition. It's almost sad that it wasn't used very much at all. I can only hope that the previous owner was so impressed with it that it was treated as the treasure it certainly is. It's easy to believe that one is tuning in to heaven and hearing the best of the angels singing. It's a blessing that my Latin is so rusty that I didn't catch immediately how sad some of the lyrics are. It's all good, Anonymous Four are amazing, as good as it gets for vocal clarity and beauty. great for sampling

I bought 1000- A Mass For the End of Time specifically to get samples of female voices singing Latin. It is very good for that, because the voices are recorded very well in natural acoustic spaces, and with no other sounds. Since there are no other sounds on the recording, like instruments, one can get usable samples. If I had bought this just to listen to, I might think that all the songs unfortunately sound very similar.Lire l'avis complet...
