Quality field interview recorder

I was in need of a good audio recorder to conduct a field interview for our historical society. My old recorder was failing and could not be trusted to fulfill this task. I researched the internet for a quality digital recorder that could stand up to the rigorous day to day audio downloads with lots of storage capacity. The Zoom had all those features plus more. After purchasing the recorder I used it over a week of extensive interviews and found that it stood up to my professional needs without any unexpected issues arising. The audio quality using a lavaliere microphone was superb and crisp. I did have to purchase a 16 gb sandisk as none came with the recorder after it arrived in the mail. I highly recommend this recorder to anyone wanting to do professional field interviews or sound bites for newscasts.Lire l'avis complet...

Nice product with great potential.

A great little recorder with excellent features, easy to operate, good quality recordings. Construction seems a bit flimsy, and I'm especially concerned that the on/off switch may not hold up with repeated use. I hope I'm wrong, but it's worth the risk at a good price, especially since this refurbished model has the normal warranty. Overall, I'm impressed, and I'm planning to do a home-based CD recording project with it.Lire l'avis complet...

A musician's must

This little piece of audio magic should be a must in every musician's kit. The best lesson is listening to yourself play with others. This device allows you to do that easily. The quality of the recording is CD or better; it is adjustable up or down, depending on what you need and how much space is on the SD card. It does 2 channel stereo with either a 90 or 120 degree X-Y spread, or 2 channel/4 channel full surround. Condenser mics all around for crystal clear highs. It also has a 3.5mm mini-jack line input so you can run a whole mixing panel into it and ignore the built-in mics. The controls are not that difficult to understand and it's just easy as can be to use. Mine finally gave up the ghost after 6 years of heavy usage, and H2 kindly replaced it with the newer H2N, which has M-S recording as well, runs 4-5 times longer on the same batteries, and is less fragile that the older model. A definite upgrade. I highly recommend this unit or the newer H2N to anyone who wants to record anything.Lire l'avis complet...

ZOOM to the top with ZOOM's H2 recorder! Go on - you deserve it!

When I first heard about the H2 recorder, I thought, "How can something as small as an electric razor be any good?" Then, I read reviews from delighted owners, especially those that used their H2s professionally to make stereo or quad sound files. I was not disappointed. I got crisp, clean, sound files with no room or atmospheric noise and I went and stood among the delighted, and was happy to share my results with them.

I bought naother one because a singer friend of mine paid an arm and a leg for one hour sound studio recording and after an hour was shown into the street. She said that if she had longer she could have got the sounds she wanted. I recommended the H2 and bought it for her. She can record to her hearts content and then edit the sound files, and is at this time in production on a CD to share her talent with the world.

If you are serious about the quality of your sound files and do not have access to EMI's set-up, then get an H2 and join the professionals for the price of a night out!

This will be the best little recorder you have owned in your short life

I ordered a nice headphone set, quality Sony; and with
a wooden box from A.C. Moore's , fabricated a nice
enclosure for everything, including a separate wooden box for the H2 Zoom recorder. I also bought rechargeable batteries, charger, and an 8 Mbyte memory card. I record all the week's music for two different choral groups. With a note book that fits in the box, I make a note of which "track" which song is on...one stops recording at each change of sheet music, and the recorder starts a new "track". Pretty much anywhere you set the thing it picks everything up, and will also automatically adjust for proper loudness level for a good recording! Superb quality. The box for it all has a 1 1/4 inch hole into which I set a 1 1/4" dowel about 3 1/2 ft tall, and the little plastic "stand" for the recorder is screwed to a wooden block on top, so the recorder has its own stand / monopod, actually, and is always at a good height. It is an amazing little recorder...I cannot imagine finding a better one.The only complaint I heard about it concerned the tiny LCD screen. One does have to squint, but only when replaying tracks. The small size of the screen helps conserve power. You set the 'backlight' of the screen to turn off in 15 seconds also, which conserves power. The two AA batteries will record for a good hour, hour and a half.Of course, my little suitcase wooden box, with 1/4" poplar partitions, hold everything perfectly in place, and the whole thing carried in something the size of a cigar box, or a little larger. So think of it...a top drawer recording studio in a small, lightweight box. Can't beat that at all. The price is most reasonable for such quality. One does need a nice table saw to cut the pieces for the box. I can show photos of it via frank-elliott@hotmail.comLire l'avis complet...

Nice Mic with old fashion interface

The mic capacity is real nice and powerful. The soround feature in 2 or 4 channels is a very good one. The compression filter make it very usable helping with the outdoors unwanted background noise making the recorded voice or sound better capture.

Menus are normal but screen size and the way you navigate them take time and always needed to put it at work. Never fail in my hands but is a hungry battery "eater". The new model has a better screen interface but still need your attention while starting recording. None are "plug and play" fast. As USB interface can not be use with iOS device too much power needed and batteries doesn't help.

Is a good buy for the money even more if bought second hand with low price.

Great Tool for any Professional Musician

Had been looking for a handy way to record gigs /rehearsals and a good friend pointed this product out as something he had used to great success. I have to agree. Small size so easily planted in a good spot. Uses batteries as well as a power supply and sounds great.Lire l'avis complet...

Zoom HN Life like recordings!.

The Zoom HN captures sound very good. I am older and have used many recorders from tape and on thru the digital age. This particular version of the zoom is excellent I love the 360 feature hit record superbly. It has many useful features as well built in but the most important thing in my book is sound quality it is excellent. Record a live band on 360 and play it back over a good stereo system it will tickle your ears.Lire l'avis complet...

Decent price, user friendly and great recording qualifty for the money.

The Zoom H2 is a great product for recording in almost any environment. I'm a Sasquatch researcher and I use it to record the sounds of the forest, especially at night. Since the Zoom isn't waterproof I keep it under cover but the microphones are so sensitive, I can keep in in camp under the canopy and it will pick up the faintest sounds. The device is incredibily easy to use, the menu is very user friendly and takes only minutes to figure out. I think for the money, it's the best thing out there, especially for my application.Lire l'avis complet...

Oldie but goodie

I purchased this as my first recording device (other than phone). I didn't want to invest a lot of money into one before knowing if I'd follow through on my resolution to record my practice sessions (French Horn). I am very happy with my purchase. I bought this used but am pleased with the recording quality and happy that I found a free audio editing program online to cut and paste my recordings.Lire l'avis complet...
