All-in-all a good addition to the "True Crime" aficionado's library.

As with the previous books that were translated into sometimes successful and popular television shows, this entry sometimes makes for a difficult read. By this I mean that the authors throw together so many short stories on different characters with so many nicknames, fringe characters and fact repetition that often it pays to go back and re-read certain pages to know exactly where you the reader are, and who exactly is who. Sometimes the attempted humour falls short, and there's an obvious wink and a nudge to the reader and subject alike that makes one wonder if this is all being treated somewhat as an inside joke...one you only get a glimpse of.
Growing up as I did under the iron rule of Queensland's longest serving, and most controversial Premier I was not privy to the goings on in NSW and Victoria so I do enjoy reading about this period, and the events leading to it.
Characterisation is mostly non-existent but that's not an issue as it is the story, background and figures involved in the 'action' that is.
This is fact-telling, of sorts as only journalists can report it. Guesses, half-truths, rumours and wild flights of fancy are all presented for the reader to digest and sift through. I just wouldn't go around basing my opinions on what I read here as, as is generally the case with any journal article, biases and opinions must be taken into account. Also the fcat that many cases and investigations are yet to be resolved, if they can be.
All-in-all a good addition to the True Crime aficionado's library and worth reading for anyone interested in the goings on of 'The Cross'.

Next on the list, "The Golden Casket". I Just wish they'd do one on Queensland - would be a real eye-opener.

great book

I really enjoyed this book, you learn more about the people by reading the book than just watching the dvd which is also good, its not a book that tells groosome details but just tells you how it was,and it makes you aware of things that really go on that you dont know about,if you like true stories than you should like this book.Lire l'avis complet...
