Good Movie but Very Predictable

Ellen Page (Juno) stars as Bliss Cavendar, a young girl with no idea of what to do with her life until she discovers the roller derby. After a try out she joins the team and the story begins.

This is Directed by Drew Barrymore (Her first movie as director) and stars: Alia Shawkat, Daniel Stern, Drew Barrymore, Ellen Page, Eve, Jimmy Fallon, Juliette Lewis, Kristen Wiig, Marcia Gay Harden.

The movie is not bad, but it is not the best ever made either. There are parts of the movie that are very slow and could probably have been left out but then the movie would have been too short.

Page gives a good performance in this movie however the plot leaves a bit to be desired. You most likely will know how this will end before you even start the movie.

Exceptional teen movie

WHIP IT is definitely not another brainless teen comedy, although there are plenty of laughs in this story of a 17-year-old Texas girl who joins the roller derby. So many movies with a domineering parent and a rebellious teen take one side or the other; depending on the point of view, one of the parties is eventually proven "wrong." WHIP IT takes a different approach, with heroine Bliss running away when her mother disapproves of her secret life as a roller derby star. But Bliss's teammate, herself a mother, suggests that Bliss can find a way to live her own dreams without hurting her parents. Ellen Page is perfectly cast as Bliss, AKA Babe Ruthless. The other competitors have equally cool skater names: Eva Destruction, Iron Maven, Princess Slaya, Bloody Holly, and Smashley Simpson (Drew Barrymore, who also directs the film). There's never a dull moment, with something for everyone: comedy, teen angst, romance, and underdog-makes-good sports action. Highly recommended.Lire l'avis complet...

Paid for new DVD, received what seemed used!

I was disappointed when I received because it did not come wrapped like a new DVD, which is what I purchased..but when I watched the movie it was fine. You should still get what you pay for!

I didn’t know anything about this movie except that it had to do with Roller Derby which is why I bought it. I found it to be uneven. Some parts were very interesting and some parts were really corny. Overall it was entertaining and worth the price I paid for it.Lire l'avis complet...

Fun flick to kill time with.

I love Ellen Page. So I had to see this film as soon as it came out, then I bought it. I really enjoyed the storyline of a teenager who wanted to become something more than a contestant in beauty pageants, then found her love for roller derby and engaged in a new set of friends, new life and new love interest. I didn't find out that Drew Barrymore directed this film until later which I thought was pretty cool. I loved the cast and even though some scenes with the skating seemed to drag on, it was still enjoyable overall.Lire l'avis complet...
