Top Pick for the Buck

The Intel SLAYQ 2.4ghz T8300 processor is, in my opinion, the most efficient processor in its class. This cpu is a much more cooler running processor than the T7700 which is also 2.4ghz and the same socket applications. Dependability with this processor is great! Even in a used condition, it is a great investment for upgrades and price wise, it is very affordable now, generally $10-15.00 on Ebay ( a long range difference from the more than $200.00 introductory price). It is also a fairly easy install in most Intell based laptops as removing the bottom cover usually reveals the heatsink and cpu. At that point, one should have a little knowledge of what to do. I personally have made 5 or more upgrades with this cpu and it has made a world of difference in processing speed and smoothness with the 3MB cache it has available. You can't go wrong by upgrading with this socket 478 cpu for an older laptop.Lire l'avis complet...

Sped up laptop by a decent amount.

I bought this CPU to replace the Intel Celeron T3500 I had in my Samsung RV510.

The CPU's packaging was so protective that I'm sure a drop from 100 meters wouldn't have damaged it. The CPU looked brand new and there were no bent pins. The package came with thermal paste which I discarded immediately as I had better paste.

Installation was a breeze as I disassembled the laptop numerous times before. CPU ran at half speed after replacement but was fixed by changing some BIOS settings.

My laptop is sped up by a decent amount compared to the previous CPU I had. The laptop can now scroll web-pages smoothly which it couldn't do before. Startup and Shutdown times are decreased by a fair bit. The CPU made no difference to the gaming performance as the laptop I have has Intel Onboard Graphics with shared memory.

Overall, I would recommend this CPU for an upgrade to an old laptop.

Brought some new life into an old laptop!

I own a Toshiba Satellite c655-s5082 and it came with an Intel Celeron 900 2.2 GHz . It was very slow , and I heard you could upgrade the processor with an older Core 2 Duo, so I took my chances and bought one and it works very well. Considering the fact that this processor is nearly 8 years old! (released in 2008) it was able to keep up with everyday tasks and even play a few games! The only downside of this processor is the high TDP of 35 watts and the fact that even with decent thermal paste and cooling it runs quite hot.Lire l'avis complet...

If I had to do this again, I would!!

I bought this 'Penryn core' CPU to upgrade the T7100 'Merom core' CPU in my Lenovo T61 laptop with Intel integrated graphics running Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit). Though NOT a huge change, I did notice a small change in the 'snappiness' of my laptop. Not only did this upgrade boost the WEI rating for the CPU, it also gave a modest increase in WEI 2D and 3D graphics ratings. IMHO, the Intel GMA X3100 graphics chip is nothing to write home about as far as raw performance is concerned so any help it receives is a PLUS.

These Penryn core chips are supposed to run cooler than the Merom core chips and that was indeed the case with my laptop. If memory serves me correctly, I saw over a 10 degree F drop in CPU temperature after the switch (noted by Speedfan as well as TPFC V.61). I was most impressed by this temperature drop, especially considering that this CPU is clocked 33% higher than the Merom chip it replaced.

I run a small PC repair business and it has been my experience that COOLER IS BETTER (within reason) as far as PCs are concerned.

eMachine E525 Upgrade

This T8300 CPU is an upgrade from the original Celeron 900 in the laptop. Almost twice the processor at a good value. Complete disassembly of the laptop was required, but nothing out of the ordinary. Laptop recognized the new CPU and proceeded to run WIn 10 with no issues. Inexpensive laptop upgrade.Lire l'avis complet...

Nice cheap upgrade

Replaced an old Dell 1420 chip (can't remember exactly, but it was a T5xxx) with this. Temperatures are now around 37-50C. The major performance boost I got was from upgrading to an SSD so didn't notice much of a change except it runs pretty cool and I can actually stream from YouTube (comfortably @ 720p but see lag @ 1080p).Lire l'avis complet...

Great upgrade for your laptop with 800MHz FSB Limit

I own a Gateway MD7309u which comes with a Pentium T4300 running at 2.10GHz and 1MB of L2 cache and can only accept 800MHz FSB processors and moving to this CPU is a nice upgrade. It will not offer you twice the performance though. During my benchmarks, the average performance increase was between 12% in pure computing performance and up to 17% in cache bound scenarios where the cache size matters (This Core 2 Duo processor comes with 3MB of L2 cache). The thing that I liked the most of this processor is its power saving technology. Pentium T4300 can't slowdown the FSB from 800MHz and it will run at idle at 1.10GHz. The battery life used to be 2 hours and 15 minutes. This Core 2 Duo processor increased the battery life to 2 hours and 57 minutes, it might not be breathtaking but in battery mode, every minute counts. The FSB now slow downs to 200MHz and the processor idles at 800MHz and runs smoother and increased my Windows 7 score from 5.4 to 6.0. Overall is a nice balance between price/performance compared to the Core 2 Duo S9500 which is more than twice expensive.Lire l'avis complet...

New laptop CPU

Product arrived on time. Product was very well packaged. Product installed and made big difference in laptop performance. Installation was not easy due to location of CPU on the motherboard.

Good Upgrade

I didn't think it would make a big difference but it did. Very easy to install. Found instructions on YouTube. Very inexpensive way to boost an older laptop. I also changed hard drive to SSD.

Works like it should

A fairly fast processor for your older computer. It was easy to replace in my dell 1420, but your mileage may vary depending on your model of computer. I used some cheap silicone grease because a friend had some. Works just fine. My computer is definitely cooler than it was with the older generation processor. It also seems a little faster. I can play youtube at HD now without stuttering. Def could not do that before.Lire l'avis complet...
