The included behind-the-scenes content is great, though the lack of DLC support is a big negative.

The guys look very much like themselves, which is great. It's not the flashiest game out there, but it does the job well.

The set list here is killer. It's smaller than the yearly big releases, but it has the best bang-for-the-buck ratio.
9.0 Gameplay
There's not a whole lot of new stuff here, but the songs are extremely fun to play.
7.0 Lasting Appeal

You'd think there'd be more Metallica songs

In a game called Guitar Hero Metallica you'd think there'd be well more Metallica songs. Only about half the songs in the game are from Metallica the other from artist "inspired" by Metallica. It's said Metallica hand picked the other artist in this game but who knows. It's just really disappointing the Metallica games in this song be they their greatest hits or just some random ones are really fun to play. It's such a thrill with the music blaring and rocking out with some of your friends to these songs. Even the less famous ones get you going. Say what you will about Metallica but seeing them play live is a thrill. Which in this game you get to be them playing these songs feeling awesome after pulling off some crazy guitar solo or a really hard drum solo. Which is why this game gets so disappointing when you have to play the other songs which have none of the impact that the Metallica songs have.
Sadly this is the formula which Guitar Hero follows. They've done it with Guitar Hero Aerosmith with Metallica and most recently Guitar Hero Van Halen. It lessens the experience. Plus most of the other "inspired by" artist songs pale in comparison and cheapen the experience. Hopefully Activision and Neversoft have learned from the dismal sales of Van Halen and Aerosmith and will try to learn from Mtv games and Harmonix success with The Beatles: Rock Band. Every single song is a Beatles song and there are even full albums you can download to add to your collection something none of the previously mentioned guitar hero games have. If you can find Guitar Hero Metallica for about 25 to 30 bucks its definitely worth the price but not for more then that.
In the end it hits a great note when playing the Metallica songs then takes a dive when it forces you to play the other songs in career mode.Lire l'avis complet...

If You're a Metallica Fan, Then You Have to Own This!

Anyone who has ever played any Guitar Hero title for an extended period of time will invariably come across a song that completely owns them.

I'm not talking about a Pat Benatar number, or something from the Killers or Nirvana. They're easy. No, the song that will have you staring in fear at a wall of notes while your rock meter goes into the red faster than ACC will almost certainly be metal, and extremely heavy at that. The reason you never got past hard on Guitar Hero III was because of Slayer, not Santana.

Overjoyed as we were with the news last year that Metallica would not only contribute a bunch of their songs for a band-exclusive Guitar Hero title, we were far more interested to see just how developers Neversoft would deal with the difficulty level. World Tour and Aerosmith were noticeably easier than Guitar Hero III, the former going as far as to require much more accurate tracking for hammer-ons and pull-offs, the latter - well, Aerosmith could be described in a lot of ways, but "brutally hard" would not be one of them.

Before we get to what it's like to play, it's worth noting just how inclusive this title is when it comes to Metallica lore. The band members were involved in every step of the development, with James Hetfield personally laying down the basic idea for the Career Mode storyline. This is based on a group of fans who followed Metallica around on tour in the early 1990's. It's important to realise that career progression is not done in chorological order like Aerosmith - Metallica vetoed that suggestion, and it's just as well. Imagine starting your career mode off with Motorbreath, or Pulling Teeth; you'd need carpal tunnel surgery before the second set.

Speaking of which, you'll no longer have to play gigs to progress, Metallica harks back to the original Guitar Hero set lists style, each requiring you to not only pass songs, but achieve a certain number of stars to progress. There's also no need to perform endless early songs to get to the later stuff, as in Quickplay mode, all set list songs are unlocked by default.

We've compiled a list of all the current known songs in this release on page two of this article. There's a good selection of not only Metallica classics, but songs from artists that have inspired Metallica, and those they've either performed with, or produced covers of. Some of the more notable include Bob Seger ("Turn the Page" was covered by Metallica on their 1998 Garage Inc. album), Lynyrd Skynyrd (the first album James Hetfield bought was from Lynyrd Skynyrd, paid for with his lawnmower money) and Motorhead. Motorhead is a recurring theme in Guitar Hero: Metallica, as not only is the Motorhead anthem "The Ace of Spaces" included, frontman, bassist and all-round legend Lemmy features as a playable character.

Where Aerosmith dabbled in video featurettes and location-specific gigs to immerse the player, Guitar Hero: Metallica goes way further. Not only will you have access to a comprehensive extras submenu that features unlockable venues, songs, commentary, videos and behind-the-scenes footage, you can also replay completed songs with trivia pop-ups that give information about each track. With guest artist songs, you can learn how each band is tied to Metallica, along with lyrics and history facts.

Themed Battle Modes will make an appearance too. We didn't get to sample these, but we've been reliably informed you'll be able to "fade to black" your opponents note track.Lire l'avis complet...

OK game

The game was alright, but it didn't blow me away. I'm not a huge fan of Metallica, but I still like them so I decided to get this game for my birthday. My biggest problem was the song selection. They chose way too many songs that sounded similar. I also don't like how Guitar Hero is having you follow other big name band instead of starting your own band and playing the best music from a wide range of artists. I did like the rest of the game though. The sound was clear and graphics were real good. This game is good, but I personally like Rock Band better.Lire l'avis complet...

Guitar Hero: Metallica (Xbox 360)

I brought this item to demo before launch here in Australia and I'd have to say it was well worth the extra cost.
It has a great selection of Metallica Music ranging from their early (better) music and the more recent songs as well. It also has a great range off back up bands such as System of a Down, Slayer, Queen and Kyuss.
It also has a neat little feature that gives players access to extra features for each song such as lyrics and song details, some even have a neat little feature called Metallifacts. This plays through the song while giving little facts related to the song and artist.

I think all Guitar Hero Fans will love this next instalment of the Guitar Hero franchise. Definitely a better instalment than Aerosmith and should generate a lot of sales to the many fan Metallica have.
Now all we have to do is wait for Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits!

Guitar Hero Metallica is due out on the 27th May 2009 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.

Guitar Hero Metallica: get ready to create the Battery!

Guitar Hero Metallica is a very fun game! myself being a HUGE Metallica fan for maaannny years! i was excited to hear they got their own GH game! its some of the same feel as Guitar Hero World Tour but at the same time it feels like a completely seperate game. i did NOT like GH World Tour but i love GH Metallica. they efficiently picked songs that show off Metallica's great guitar work and excellent song writing. there are also some other great songs from bands that inspired Metallica or have had inspiration from them...and knowing that Metallica hand picked them themselves adds to it. overall, its a great Guitar Hero game. im a big Rock Band fan so it was cool to see that this Guitar Hero game is actually worth playing. An outworld concert hall...

Ok, first what i liked, it is an amazing game, great band, great music, i mean, just marvelous, all metallica's songs are a blast, of course, a good thing, always carries a bad thing... the other musician's selection could have been better, i don't know probably more 80's metal, or underground metal, like Sabra Cadabra's by Black Sabbath... my last feedback... it's worth it, actually the only guitar hero i wished for... just for true Metal Warriors... not posers...

Remember, it is just a game, if i can't play it live, at least i can enjoy it...jejeLire l'avis complet...

Ride The Lightning!

The first thing that I have to get to in this review is the fact that the game is an absolute blast to play, mainly due to the fact that this is one of the best Guitar Hero soundtracks to date.
>The songs make for an amazing collection of rock music, even if you are not a Metallica fan as there is stuff here from tons of bands for you to have fun playing with.

Some of the songs include The Boys Are Back In Town, Toxicity, Ace of Spades from Motorhead, and others just to name a few.

In terms of the gameplay, Neversoft has done a fantastic job of really pumping things up this time out, first and foremost with the addition of the second bass pedal.

I know what you are thinking, oh, just one more thing to try and keep track of. I have to say though that once you play with the two bass pedals, you will never want to play with just one again!!

Very good condition

I'm very happy with the game. It's in very good condition and almost looks brand new. Wish I could have found it a little cheaper but this was actually the cheapest I found it.

A Really Fun Game

This game is one of the few titles on the Xbox 360 I like. I love Metallica and being able to "play" their songs is really nice. The difficulty is higher on the difficulty settings than I'm used to in other games so I initially had to start on a lower difficulty but currently I'm working my way up to Hard.
