A Well Meaning Device, But...

The HD PVR 2 is a well meaning device. It presents a good picture and you can pause and record live TV. However, it doesn't have an attractive or easy TV guide interface like Windows Media Center. In fact, it's NOT compatible with WMC. This is an error in judgement. Hauppauge needs to build a plug-in so the device will support WMC.

It was pure misery trying to get the infrared sensor to work on my Comcast RNG110 set top box. I had another HD box that I switched out and I still cant change channels or it changes to the same channel over and over again. This is not good when you need to schedule recordings. I ended up plugging out the IR cable and I just change channels with the Comcast remote at the set top box. Extremely inconvenient.

Of course, it can capture video game play and you can post it on YouTube, but I don't play video games. I bought it so I can watch and record live TV in HD. I'm not calling my purchase a failure because it's not. The device works, but controlling it is too clunky. Hauppauge needs to develop a better TV interface like SiliconDust's HD HomeRun Prime - and they need to make this device compatible with Windows Media Center, like their internal TV capture card, Colossus. Light and Software much Easier to Use

We traded up from a 5 year older model that had no HDMI capability. This by far is the best so far. We are pleased with the quality of the picture. We also realized that the recordings now are on average 11 - 14 GB in size vs the 2.5 -5 GB size with the older PVR. Well worth the investment !!!Lire l'avis complet...

It doesn't work.

First, there was no installation disc included (I tore the box apart looking for it). The download doesn't work. Nothing appears as it should on the screen. I finally called the tech, and got no help. I figure that the box is faulty. Can you replace it for me?Lire l'avis complet...
