Intriguing campain and fun online multiplayer

Pros: If you played the first one it is almost exactly like it. Only you do play as a "Big Daddy" in this one and there are improvements. New plasmids, new characters, as well as a new rival to replace what the Big Daddy was in the first one.

Cons: Online multiplayer is tricky. Maps are hard to get familiar with. And glitchy.

I won't tell any spoilers but if you liked the first one, you'll love the campaign in this. A little knowledge of the first storyline will take you a lot more into it but not completely needed. In this one you find out your own origins as well as the true origins of Rapture and all of it's dirty secrets.

The levels are very similar but have changed over ten years and in a different part of Rapture. The new tools, plasmids, and genes make this a very enjoyable game.

Playing online is very hard to get familiar with. I still have a hard time navigating the maps. But usually it is always run into the next room and fight type of scenario. It is very fun, with almost no lag. Level up to unlock attachments, plasmids, genes, and trials (challenges to level up further).

My only problem I have had with this game is two glitches. All of my friends have experienced just one of these. The first one, that I alone have encountered, is sometimes during the campaign I find that after using a vita-chamber I am unable to look. Every other control works fine but the sight. Saving in the pause menu, jumping to the dashboard, and then back to the game to load up the save fixed it every time. The other glitch, is sometimes during online game play, it will freeze up. The same steps with the other will fix this one as well. But you've lost any of the score you had and you can't just jump back into the match you were in.

Another thing which I am unsure I can blame on the game, my connection, or lack of players online at the time of trying, is that I have a HARD time getting it to find a match. But it seems like if I find one match, every search after that brings results almost instantly.

I love this game, and will continue to play it online and finish the other difficulty play throughs, and achievements.

If you haven't tried it, at least rent it or find a great price for it here on eBay.

decent game

it was a great game although i started out in beginner mode which was extremely easy for somebody who enjoys first person shooters and has played others. (i know i should of took their advice).
r>overall the game is enjoyable, shocking, disturbing and erie. all the things i enjoy in a fps. when you have little 6 year olds harvesting eve (whatever that is) through siringes, well yeah... you get the rest

another downfall to this game to me was the inablility to run. i understand your in a 300lb suit but levels that you should be able to pass through with the ease seem to take forever at times. hopefully there is another upgrade that makes you hyperfast that i have missed only beating the beginner mode.Lire l'avis complet...

Pretty good. But not as good as the 1st.

I liked this game alot. The reason why it got 4/5 is because I think it turned up short when compared to the 1st Bioshock. Pros- Action is intense and amazing. The new abilities like duel wielding a plamid and a weapon are cool. The new weapons are cool as well. Cons- Really no new plasimds. They are much more improved but arnt anything new. No new enemies types as well except a few new big daddies, one or two more splicers and the new big sister. The thing that I dislike the most is the presentation of the story and the game. The 1st game had probably the most amazing openings ever in videogames and there was always a jaw dropping moment around every corner. I can't say there was really that many in this game. Plus their is little to no reference to your character from the 1st game. There is little to any reference to the 1st game actually. Most of the background characters like Steinmen or Sullivan are not discussed and not any of there radio diaries are around. Ryan has a different voice actor which is stupid. I also thought the new radio diaries were boring and stupid. I know alot about the bioshock series and this game actually created alot of inconsistinses when it comes to bioshock logic. Other than those things aside it was a very good game. I highly suggest you buy it or rent it first to try it out. This and the orignal are a must in any gamers video game libary.
(Remember- This is MY PERSONAL opinion.)

Its Good But Should Have Been Better

Bioshock I introduced everyone to a dark, gloomy underwater failure at a utopia from the viewpoint of a man. It was exciting, unique, and engaging all throughout and the gameplay was pretty original to me. In Bioshock 2, everything is pretty much the same. It's pretty to look at, but it's the same pretty as the first one. Game mechanics and controls are the same, graphics look a little more crisp (although text can be impossible to read if the TV's not big) but it's not enough to make this visit feel any different from the first. Yes, although different story line, new characters, and a few twists make this newer installation more more enjoyable, it's somewhat of a let down from what was expected to be a new outlook on the world of Rapture when everything seems exactly the same as it was before. Besides the deja vu of seeing everything, the same was still pretty fun though!Lire l'avis complet...

Close... so close.

The original Bioshock was one of my favorite games ever. This game is very good, but it doesnt quite stack up to the expectations I had for it. The combat is as smooth as the original, the Plasmids are upgraded and more tactical, which is cool, but the story just doesnt suck me in like the first one did. With the original, once I started playing it, i couldnt put it down until i had beaten it twice. With this one, While its definately a quality product, I play every now and then. They may have upgraded everything, but its just not as addictive as the first. but still, if you can get it cheap, it's DEFINATELY worth the purchase. Dont get me wrong, its still one of the top 10 shooters on the system.Lire l'avis complet...

Bioshock 2; Fun but too short?

I love this sequel to the original Bioshock game! It's very fun and the storyline is still really awesome... I just didn't like how it ended so quick... There are less levels in this game than the original and there's a lot of things we can't do that we did in the first one that was fun (like traveling around wherever we wanted to go, whenever). Of course it's all understandable since this game's storyline is different from the first, but it would have been nice to travel around back and fourth. Anyways, the gameplay is similar to that of the original Bioshock and as always the plasmids are a fun addition. I would rate this game an 8/10. Eight only because although I found it very fun to play, it ended too quick as I finished this game within a week of purchasing it (which is pretty lame, to be quite frank), so I'm a bit disappointed in that. Aside from the length of this game though, I love it and I would definitely recommend it to any FPS-game lover or Bioshock fan! (:Lire l'avis complet...

bioshock 2

Great graphics, good gameplay. Interesting storyline if you know what went on in the first game. Game has gotten a bit more difficult but still easily managable. I would've liked the story mode to be a little longer. New multiplayer feature isnt bad just need to have xbox live to use it. I also heard that you get different outcomes based on the decisions you make so choose wisely.Lire l'avis complet...

Not as good as the first, but..

Bioshock 2 is not better than its predecessor, but that doesn't mean it isn't a competent game itself. I don't think it sold as well either as you can find it easily for under $20 and for that price it becomes a must have. Not only does Bioshock 2 have great game play, the story and setting is what really sets it apart. You don't need to play the first game to enjoy the story here (although you should since the original Bioshock is very cheap too), it will still make sense and you will be able to follow what happens. There is multiplayer in Bioshock 2 and while it is nothing special, it is fun. Bioshock is also a pretty long game as well and is a game that you will want to revisit later on. While Bioshock 2 is not as a good as Bioshock, it is still worth of your attention. For under $20, it is too good to pass up.Lire l'avis complet...

The second part of a great game!

Well, After playing a great game like Bioshock, nobody could think of a second part being better than the first. I'm very glad that the game hasn't change much and the formula that did of Bioshock a great game is there.

If you loved Bioshock 1 you are going to love Bioshock 2 ;)

I will recommend this game to all the people that played the first part. It's very important to play the first part before to be more connected with everything here. although, you can still play this second part because it takes place before the first part does.

My absolute favorite console game, because my PC won't play it.

I originally rented this game out of boredom and the fact that Gamefly is a sure way to get none of the games you want at a "decent" price, and I was caught completely off guard. I hadn't played the first one, but the story still holds up without it.

Truth time: I haven't played a game that I enjoyed so much since the original Pokemon games. The story is amazing (you would benefit to view a wiki or two), the gameplay is fluid and amazingly fun, the music is all too appropriate for every moment; exciting during the fight scenes, and hauntingly emotional during the...emotional parts (spoiler: if you have any kind of heart in your chest, this game will break it in half).

The empathetic side of this game is well woven into the gameplay, and the choices you make will either make your heart swell with joy and happiness as your decisions led to one of your little friend's gentle smiles as they thanked you, or sink into your shoes when they shrink back at your every move as their perception of you is "greedy and cruel" when you take the easy path.

The gameplay lets you be as creative as you'd like, for the right price (spoiler). Your customizable special powers can be used strategically to launch your foes into whatever sort of trap, be it environmental or home-made, or just to dominate them as a deus ex machina of the ocean. There is a variety of these abilities, and weapons with a delicious assortment of ammo for them as well. The hardest part at times can be deciding how to eliminate your enemies.

Speaking of, the enemies feel organic, even when they aren't. They will duck, dodge, dive, hide, hack, heal, and even flank in their pursuits. Make certain you know where they are at all times. Just when you think you've got one on the run, it turns out he's just at the local health station, ready to force you to waste more of your ammo.

I tried to find a part of this game that I didn't like, just to be unbiased. I really did. I haven't played the multiplayer, because I'm poor enough to need to buy a $20 game for $10 on eBay, so Xbox live is out of the question. I suppose that can be the con to this review, that I can't system link with my 2 friends and stomp around Rapture killing each other. Oh well.

This game is epic on too many levels. If you have any appreciation for a game that immerses you to the point of making your face twist in happiness or anger or sadness at any moment, you'll love this game.
