If you like blowing things up-it doesn't matter what- this game is for you.

Red Faction Guerrilla is a third-person shooter set on Mars. With the goal being to free Mars from the oppressive EDF, you would probably think this game is going to be pretty typical. and it is.
With one exception, which is the very well done destruction engine. With buildings often as targets on the sandbox style map, you can literally pick up this game and start having fun. if you don't care about the story, it's fine, if you don't care about killing EDF, that's fine too because even the game's developers know that all you really wanna do is blow something up.
You know what? Blowing something up is the whole focus, you find weaknesses, set charges, bash whatever you can with a sledge hammer, and there will be nothing but rubble and a glorious trail of destruction behind you. All while the EDF try to stop you. coming together to make a sandbox shooter that is fun and satisfying to play.
Although if you don't like blowing things up, if want to play a game that's deeper than "go there, Kill- no, DESTROY that," then this game is not for you. The storyline seems to fall flat from the very beginning and while the setting could be interesting the story will surely kill your interest in it beyond the visuals quickly. Playing the game against the AI is fun, the games AI sometimes has problems but most of the time they will punish you properly for your mistakes.
Although the games gun play isn't bad, it can't compete with the great shooter games, Halo, Call of Duty, to name a few. Not that you'll notice because if you're not using something that ends with something else being blown up then you're playing the game wrong.

Red Faction: Guerrilla

A few more months of polish and this would have been a must own title. The driving control feels a little cheap, the plot is nothing great, and the enemy AI has a few problems here and there. But... this game is a hell of a lot of fun to play purely for building destruction. The idea of fighting as a Guerrilla could have been a little deeper than raising a "Morale" bar for an area, but at the same time it's a blockbuster title that I'm sure they didn't desire to make very complicated. Missions are just diverse enough to not be repetitive. All and all a good arcady, building blowing up time. You owe it to yourself to at least rent it and witness the best building destruction I've seen in a 360 title.

Oh, and multiplayer is fun for the "Seige" game mode, but the game really wasn't designed for deathmatch, or really multiplayer in general. Far from titles like Halo or CoD4.

Stop! Hammertime

GTA is what Red Faction: Guerrilla is as a game in a nutshell despite the obvious differences in setting and theme.

What sets this game apart from GTA is that its main focus is on demolition and breaking things. The tutorial mission puts a sledgehammer in your hands and instructs you to beat the crap out of buildings with it. Almost every single piece of infrastructure in this game is destructable and the freedom allowed in destroying them is somehow way more fun than it ought to be. Its this reason alone that makes Red Faction such an enjoyable GTA clone.

I reccomend Red Faction if you're into those free roaming sandbox games. Seeing as its a budget title now, you'll get your money's worth at @$20.

Great Game

Red Faction: Guerrilla was honestly a great game. It was a little hard getting involved in the story at first and a little repetitive with the missions to advance through the game. However, about half way through I started to enjoy much more than I had expected. The story developed very well and the fighting kept getting better and better. If you like playing a 3rd person shooter where you can destroy almost any building, upgrade weapons with resources, or destroy anything with a sledgehammer than this is the game for you.Lire l'avis complet...

Completely awesome game - Red Faction

I decided to buy this game based on a the free downloadable demo on Xbox live. The game totally lived up to its promise. It is open world, with tons of Martian landscape to walk, jump, fly, and drive over. The physics engine is great; you can demolish buildings by taking out key structural beams and stuff. The missions are challenging and varied, with things like rescuing the hostages, doing as much damage as you can, holding off increasing numbers of troops, etc.

There are also independent challenges apart from the main missions, which are either demolitions challenges or driving challenges. These were all interesting and fun and help hone your skills for the actual gameplay, plus give you some extra currency to buy upgrades with.

I have had an XBox 360 since 2006 and a regular Xbox since 2005; this is one of the most fun games I have played.

Great Game!

I am only on the 2nd sector so far, but I think I know enough to be confident this game is a 5/5.

This game is a great sandbox game, meaning you can chose when you want to complete objectives and which ones you want to complete. There are lots of side objectives but the only things you have to do to move on in the game are the missions.

To complete a sector, you must lower the enemy's control down to 0. To do that you can blow up their important buildings, go on raids, rescue other red faction members, help win small battles, and more. After that you have to do the missions (usually 4 so far) and the sector becomes yours.

At first I was concerned about the length of the game after beating the first sector so quickly (2 hours). I was quickly reassured once I saw how much more content there was in the 2nd sector. I have been working on that for 2 hours and I still got another 2 to go it looks like. From the looks of the map, there are 6 sectors in all.

So...

Gameplay - Smooth, easy controls
9/10
Sound - Sounds great, explosions and demolisions work
9/10
Longitivity - Long enough campaign, PLUS wrecking crew mode and great online modes
9/10
Storyline - Good, not great
7/10
Fun Factor - A bit repetitive, but it keeps surprising me!
8/10

Overall 8.5/10
I would recommend this game if you like sandbox objective games in general...or if you liked Saints Row 2 (same people make this game, looks and feels similar to me).

Red Faction Guerrilla Review

Red Faction Guerrilla is one of my all-time favorite games for the Xbox 360. The fact that you can manipulate the environment (blow things up) makes it one of the first unique games in the genre providing hours of gameplay. I highly recommend this game!!Lire l'avis complet...

An All Around Great Game / The Best Online Multiplayer Shooter Of All Time

This is an all around great game. The story mode gives you alot of freedom like a Grand Theft Auto title would, a definite plus. One of those games you can always find something else to do in. Well, that's the story mode.
The online multiplayer is even better; it's incredible. I consider this the best multiplayer shooter of all time, and no other game has yet to prove me wrong. Yes that includes all battlefield and call of duty titles.
With the array of weapons, backpacks, and destructible environments, it is just more skill based than any of those games. There are so many variables to account for in any given situation, it is endlessly exciting.
Red faction games are fun in general, and this one is the best one of the series. If you liked the old school Red Faction Games for Ps2 and Xbox, you're missing out by not playing this game. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes shooters, and for the $10.00 or so price tag, it's just a no brainer.

brilliant gameplay with an affordable price

Its a neat game in general and has enough polish put into it that you'll care and enjoy it. The entertainment value in the this game comes from blowing structures up, that alone warrants a purchase. You won't find any other game with this much destruction. The shooting it bland and the driving is alright but exploration and destruction is where its at. If open world destruction in mars is what your looking for this game will do it for you. Its fairly cheap now so give it a shot your not loosing anything.Lire l'avis complet...
