Do you wanna play?

This game shouldn't be 50 dollars retail. You get 30 songs (less than gh1), there are no songs for purchase, some of the characters and venues from gh2 are missing, the menus and stuff look the same but with pretty colors, there are no guitars that you can't find in gh2 besides the cream bass that you can only use in multiplayer, and the songs Radar Love and I Wanna Rock have been pretty much butchered by the crappy singers.
On the positive side, I don't pay much attention to the characters anyways. Its hard to watch both them and the fingerboard on the screen. Expert's difficulty has more of the three finger chords and most of the solos are a lot more difficult (also known as more fun) than gh2's. The songs that didn't get ruined by horrible singing are actually really fun to play.
Personally I had more trouble with Seventeen than I did "the ultimate song", Play With Me. If you are a fan of the plastic guitar, buy it. I would wait for the price to go down if I were you.

Guitar Hero Rocks the 80s

I bought Hero I on ebay and got into it, I currently have 4 diffrent guitars for my playstation 2. I know own Guitar Hero I, Hero Rocks the 80s, and Guitar Hero III. The 80s has good music that was from my era, but heroIII came out too close to the release of the 80s. Im not the best but am pretty good and really enjoy battleing,(two players playing at once). I really like that I have two wireless Guitars, it makes it even funner that you can move around the room and rock. Thanks Hope Everyone owening Guitar Hero games have fun too... Rock of The 80's

I love the mix of songs, How they had fun with the characters and dressed them in 80's outfits. Very fun game. The different skill levels, are what they say, and it is good to have a challenge and a next level of speed and notes to try. The only thing I disliked about this game is that it has the same stages as another version of guitar hero as well as I would like more 80's outfit options, or any outfit options at all. Other than that, it is an excellent game. I play it all the time. :) I decided to buy it because my boyfriend likes playing guitar hero, and wanted a different version. Also, I was sick of playing the same old songs.Lire l'avis complet...

Cool Game!

OK! This game is fun, but I have a small beef. I started in the Guitar Hero "world" with the Aerosmith game, so I expected the game play to be very similar, and it is, except for one thing. On Aerosmith, it doesn't matter what difficulty level you play, you still get to unlock all songs. So, needless to say, I played Aerosmith on easy and unlocked all 31 songs. BUT, when I got this game, I tried easy, and unlocked only 20. I don't think that's right that you have to do medium or hard to unlock them all.

On the other hand, its fun! I really didn't recognize a lot of the songs, and there should have been more hair bands, but still it's a fun game.

Playstation 2 Game

I bought a PlayStation 2 game(guitar hero encore: rocks the 80s) for my 4 children around Christmas time because i and my husband had just a month before Christmas bought them a guitar hero PlayStation 2 set and they absolutely loved it. We are trying to build up there game selection and more accessories, but the cost of games now a days are outrageous, so we decided to look on e-bay for some games and that's when we came across this game. So what it's used but i figure for half the price, it's well worth it as long as it works. And so far so good, we've had absolutely no problems with it skipping, or restarting on it's own, or stopping in the middle of the game, and that makes us happy. Also it did get delivered in a very great time period(within 5-10 days), we tracked it on the computer and it was coming exactly when they stated. As far as recommending buying used games from e-bay, i absolutely do. Just all i got to say is be smart about it. Make sure that there atleast in fair to great shape. Thanks e-bay for our purchase!Lire l'avis complet...

If you like 80's music and GH...

This game is awesome for any fan of guitar hero and 80's music. The song list is rock solid. Every song is extremely fun to play and there are a lot of well knowns like Turning Japanese. Plus the 80's theme is apparent throughout and gives this GH more personality than it's counterparts. Some downsides is lack of unlockables compared to other GH2's. Also there are some bad covers but there are also some very awesome ones. Holy Diver is hands down the best cover of a song in a GH game.Lire l'avis complet...

Not worth the money!

Guitar Hero rocks the 80's is as fun as the other Guitar Hero games but it is a major ripoff. It does have some cool 80's hair metal and new wave songs. A couple of the songs are kind of stupid but that is my own personal opinion.

The problem with this game is that it is not worth money. I saw another reviewer say it would be great if it was under $30. I would completly agree with that reviewer. There are only 30 songs on this game with no extras that you could buy. The other guitar hero games have around 60 songs when you buy the extras. Seems like the game is just a big money maker. I recieved this game as gift and couldn't return it because I didn't want to look unapprieciative.

Also, there are no special extras like in the other guitar hero games. There are a few guitars and finishes but only one extra charachter. There are no outfits to buy, videos, or songs. I really do not care much about buying extra guitars but, it just goes to show how much of a money maker this game really is. I would buy any other guitar hero game but no this one. If you want to play it, rent it for a day or two to see if 30 songs are really worth $50 new. You could easily beat the game in a couple of hours if you have had experience playing the other guitar hero games

The 80's rock!! (ok, maybe not so much...)

Encore is a good addition to the Guitar Hero collection. If one is a fan of the "big hair" bands, this is definitely a must have. One or two song don't really translate well when playing, but overall experience is satisfactory. If you're looking for more bonus material like the other Hero games, then this isn't for you, falling short on new characters and accesories. But if you're a diehard 80's rocker, than game will satisfy your need.Lire l'avis complet...

Been there done that.

If you loved the first two Guitar Hero games as much as I did, you were probably really looking forward to this game. It would seem to be the perfect addition to the Guitar Hero franchise. However, when this game came out full priced, I was expecting more than just a short eighties song compilation. Unfortunately, that's pretty much what you get.

Not only are there only 30 songs, the song choices aren't even that great any many instances, and the songs are the only thing that's new. There are no bonus songs to buy, and just not that much stuff to unlock in general (only one unlockable character).

There are some really fun songs you will really enjoy playing, but if you pay full price for this I can pretty much guarantee you will feel ripped off. I can't blame the makers of Guitar Hero for cashing in on their success, but seriously, next time either lower the price or put enough content in the game to warrant the fifty bucks.
