Give the Fans What They Want

Joss Whedon is notorious for both knowing his fans and knowing how to please them. Unlike some stars, Whedon knows where he bread is buttered and consistently makes every effort to please the people who keep him in business.

Thus is a the case with "Firefly." When the show was canceled, Whedon promised the fans to fight tooth and nail for some kind of revival. Nor were they empty promises, either. Though new episodes of "Firefly" will likely never see a television screen again, Whedon delivered "Serenity," a quality piece that continued, and in many ways concluded, the "Firefly" story.

Now, Whedon is out to please fans again with this extras-laden edition of "Serenity." Many fans were obviously disappointed with the bare-bones DVD that was previously released, and Whedon answered the call with this stunning re-release that includes (gasp!) a cast and director commentary.

In short, anyone who loves "Firefly" owes it to themselves and Joss Whedon to add this gem to their collection.

You will become addicted

I am a total and forever fan of the Firefly/Serenity universe. Joss Whedon and this great cast make you care about these characters. If you like SciFi and/or Westerns this is a must see..which will lead to a must own. I own the Firefly boxed set and both the original and Special Edition of Serenity...so I can loan them out an make new converts. Its the kind of thing you will want to watch over and over again. Its got it all..effects..dialog..music...and a great story. If all you want is special effects keep looking. If you want a real winner buy this one.Lire l'avis complet...

Firefly: A glowing review.

Set in the far future, Firefly depicts a unique universe, the likes of which have never been seen before or since the show aired in 2002. Created by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Firefly takes us on a jouney through this fantastic setting and lets us view it through the eyes of a misfit group of smugglers aboard the ship Serenity. Due to the fact that every planet's technology differs, the characters' adventures cover a wide range of genres, from Blade-Runner-esque hi-tech action, to wild west shootouts, and even mideval swordfights. Firefly was such a phenominal hit with viewers, it was cancelled after only eleven episodes. Box set collects those eleven, and also includes three that were never aired. I love Firefly and Serenity is a kick A$$ movie!

If you are a fan of Firefly OF COURSE why the hell would you now want to watch this. This movie is basically suppose to wrap up the Firefly series. This is a more glamourous version. But if you have not seen Firefly and you watched this first this will be confusing. The movie has some slow scenes but Im telling you the scenes with River in it are amazing (She takes a more prominent role in here than the Tv show). The movie re released with commentary and some others which is cool to watch. There are some Comic Con shots which if you attend it maybe youll see yourself in there! LOL

If you loved Firefly and havent watched this movie yet...umm...be prepared to be sad at the end...because a couple of things happen which made me very sad too....SO the point is, some big network tv guy better re relased this show on TV because it is one of the best shows I have ever watched! And the movie is great too!

Characters:
Capt. Malcom MAL Reynolds: Captain of his ship of course! Very cold, and blaintantly rude...but he is very witty and funny! Basically your classic gunslinger...this guy can right and shoot!

Zoe Washburne: Mals right hand WOman! She is such a strong female which is why many girls watch this show too! She is serious all the time and can too fight and shoot like no tomarro!

Hoban WASH Washburne: Zoe and Wash are a married couple. Its weird because Wash is such a weakling! LOL. But he is a genius at flying. He is their pilot and no one can escape the reavers like him -- Im a leaf in the wind watch how I soar!

Inara Serra: Beautiful woman! She is a companion (Sorta like a classy prostitute!). She is very educated in the arts and especially in seduction. Her and Mal have some sort of sexual tension going on!

Jayne Cobb: Oh...Jayne! He is the bad ass in the group. He is just a big brute that curses and fights all the time! He is also very funny. I never seen someone own so many knives and guns before!

Kaylee Frye: She is such a sweetie! She is the ship's mechanic! She gets down and dirty and knows how to fix a ship! Even so she is such a girly girl! Never have anything negative to say...always happy! She is in LOVE with Simon!

Dr. Simon Tam: He causes a lot of trouble to the Serenity crew! He was not part of the original crew. He was originally just a passenger but after finding out he is a fugitive the crew had to escape with him. Anywho he is a genius Doctor so its not bad to have him on the ship. He is so consumed by River he don't notice Kaylee to much.

River Tam: She plays a small role in the TV show but a greater role in the Movie. She is the reason why her and her brother are wanted. She is a genius and the alliance took her to try to turn her into a weapon. She knew their secrets. But because she is crazy you don't know whats going on in that head of hers. She can act like a baby one day and the next day destroy a horde of reavers with such grace! Best character ever!

Shepherd Book: He was originally a passanger but end up being part of the crew. he plays a minor role in the TV and Movie. He is basically there to give advice and support. He surprisingly knows how to fight too!Lire l'avis complet...

Firefly: Final Chapter?

Great action, wonderful closer to the awesome sci-fi series Firefly. Bonus disc and packaging make this a great bargain. Enjoy.

A fine send-off to a fine series.

Even if you haven't seen the Fox show 'Firefly', you may have a reasonably good time watching this. The first time I saw 'Serenity' was a few years ago, before I had even seen the show, and I enjoyed it. Now, after finally having seen the entire show, I watched this again and enjoyed it even more.

The action is well-paced, the dialogue is smart (considering the genre), and the plot keeps you interested. Also, for such a relatively cheap film to produce (around $40 million), the effects are very well done. Unfortunately, this movie wasn't enough to restart the franchise as it only made less than it's production costs back at the box office, which includes foreign sales. Ouch.

Still, if you're a fan of the show, this is a must watch, as it is a fitting end to the series at least in a film/television medium. For those not yet initiated in the world of 'Firefly', check out the show's only season on DVD, then immediately pick this up.Lire l'avis complet...

Great addition to anybody's Firefly collection

The movie is great and the extras are even better. Lots of trivial bits that I never new and never saw posted on You tube. I don't know what the difference is between the Collectors Edition and the previous one, but for the cost, it couldn't be beat.Lire l'avis complet...

the collectors edition is worth the extra money

The firefly series was great, and its good to see the characters again. This collectors edition is espcially good because of the bonus material. After watching the movie, you can watch the bonus material (deleted scenes, behind the scenes, etc.) which really fills in the whole story that wouldn't fit into the feature film itself.Lire l'avis complet...

Serenity DVD

This was one of the best series turned movie that I have ever seen. I want to watch it over and over. The series was canceled due to poor programming choices and timeslot moving, as usual. The actors worked well together, it just seemed right. If you haven't seen the series, "Firefly" yet then I suggest you take a look at it. The movie picked up where the series was forced to end. It fills in some of the blanks and makes you want to see a Serenity PART 2. Josh Wheddon if you ever read any of this, please consider it. Thanks a very loyal Serenity fan.Lire l'avis complet...

Serenity

Great movie. If you watched the series, (Firefly) it was refereshing. If you are unfamiliar with the too short lived series, you got a quick in debth introduction, during the action, then the movie went into high gear.
Its a shame this series didnt last a few seasons like his other series did, it wouldve been an excellent storyline to follow each week! The movie makes up for the abrupt ending of the series. Very well written. Very well acted, the Actors were very familiar with thier characters, and they made the movie work so well. I hope they are able to make another, but then, Serenity kinda leaves the viewer with no doubt as to where the characters are headed, which is nice in itself. We "miss" Y'all.Lire l'avis complet...
