Brunswick Pro Bowling (Wii)

I purchased this bowling game because the reviews and description indicated that it was a good simulator of real bowling. I'm a league bowler and thought it would be fun to practice on the system. Well after using it for a few hours, I think that it has great potential with nice graphics, equipment selection and even has a fun career mode. My complaint is that the Wii system can't handle the processing requirements of the action. As a result the displayed player doesn't match the movements of the real player with the remote control. Since the release point is key to controling a real bowling ball, the mismatch in speed is a problem in the game. It's ok if you just want to play the game in slow motion.

In career mode, I also had it freeze up several times where I had to reset the game during the 8th or 9th frame. As a result, I enjoy the simple bowling game that came with the Wii system as much even though you don't have as much control of ball spin and ball path.

Brunswick Pro Bowling for Wii - not all that great

Do you love bowling?
Do you love bowling video games?
Well, I would suggest that you rent this game first, before buying it.
You may really enjoy "Brunswick Pro Bowling" for the Wii...but you also might really dislaike it...it's good in some areas and lacking in others

Brunswick Pro Bowling uses 'real' characters (avatars) that you can personalize (instead of the more simplistic, cartoony Miis), which does bring a touch of realism to the game. As your bowling skills progress and you earn 'money', you may later on purchase accessories to customize your avatar (such as different shirts, or balls). I found the avatars to be a bit creepy-looking, and there was no 'child-sized' avatars available (to the disappointment of a younger player who was trying the game)

I found the game controls to be more confusing that for the WiiSports Bowling. The controls were not extremely difficult, or hard to remember, but it was easy to line up your shot, then accidentally throw it completely out of whack just before you were ready to throw (and you'd have to start all over again).

I did not like the avatar animations...I think there is an option to turn them off, and next time, I would do that. Not only does it take up game-play time (to watch your avatar stand there and make faces) but I disliked the childish outbursts of frustration from the male character (whenever he bowled a less-than-perfect shot). If this truly was league-bowling (as the game says it is) this poor sportsmanship behavior would not be tolerated. But I digress...

All in all, the game was ok. Not great, not awful. If you've never played a bowling game before on the Wii, then you would probably think that it was ok. It certainly does bring the game of bowling right to your living room, in a semi-realistic manner (except why does the controller rumble when you bowl a strike? That makes no sense)

But all in all, I still think that the WiiSports bowling game is easier to play and more fun as well.
This game rated an "average" with me.

I hope this review was helpful to you.
If you liked it, please take a moment to vote "yes"
Thank you

Brunswick Pro Bowling game for Wii (2007)

Bought this game because we like the sample version in the Wii Sports game.

Sadly this game is a lot different and the controls to get around work differently. The game itself seems to work fine once you figure out all the info you learned working the Wii Sports version is wasted, you can maneuver okay.

The positioning is sort of tricky, and getting the bowler to bowl is spotty. Whereas the Wii Sports version was very straight forward, this game seems to be hard to adjust your throw and control.

I am sure we will get used to it, it does have the ability to buy special balls, and clothes so you can customize your look. The Wii Sports version requires you to maintain a "pro" level to keep the fancy ball. It seems to allow only two symbol names? There aren't many choices as to player looks, at least the Wii Sports versions have tons of Wii Mii's that can be made funny or serious, this one only has pretty much a early twenty ish look, and possibly no female look at all?

I would buy again, but, it is a shame the Wii Sports game doesn't have an upgraded version as that one is more user friendly and seems more fun.

A very nice game for the money, short on instructions.

This Brunswick bowling game is very realistic and fun to play on your WII. I do like most functions of the game having been a bowler most of my life. I find the instruction book that comes with the software to be less then usefull for setting up more then one player for team bowling. In the pratice mode you can add up to four (4 ) players very easly but it dose not keep track of your standings in this mode. I have not been able to get any response from Crave who is the mfg. of this software after many emails and no luck on contacting via the phone. If you just like to bowl game by game then you will like this game. Bob SLire l'avis complet...

good game, real close to being real, took me a little bit to figure out how to release the ball, everything good from the time of ordering it to receiving it.

Game has its ups and downs...

This game is great for a realistic look at bowling. It allows you to choose different player features, player levels, different bowling alleys, and bowling equipment. The Wii version doesnt use the accuracy and speed scale when throwing the ball like other platforms do. The Wii controller doesnt react as well as the Wii Sports bowling game when you throw the ball. Overall this is still a good game.Lire l'avis complet...

pretty fun game with tough competition

this game has a career mode where you work your way through a series of tournaments and try to win money to buy new bowling balls, clothes, hats, wrist bands. I like how you gain a reputation by winning and looking good on the lanes. The pin action is very life like, but the overall feel of ball control when throwing is not as solid as the bowling game on wii sport. I wanted to try other bowling games and this one turned out to be lots of fun. There is a another game in this series that I would try also.Lire l'avis complet...

Wii's Brunswick Pro Bowling Player's Game Review

I decided to purchase this game as an alternantive to the less realistic look of Wii's decent bowling game (Let's face it the interaction between player and game takes gameplay to a whole new level).
The Brunswick version is pretty darn cool. There are a few male and a few female players to chose from with predetermined names (good so that it is easier to blame your represtentative for mistkes by yelling his or her name at the screem when they split the pins. The subtle changes when throwing the ball using the remote(that is all that you need to play...) are so much more like the real thing than past or other system's version that it makes it one worth playing for years. The stroke that contolls speed is also one that is perfectly syncronized to the resulting speed of the slide down the lane...and one can easily curve the ball by twisting the remote as you toss the ball. Why....there is a left, right or even a backspin that conteracts your player's built in curve. Each player give one a choice of degrees of curve.
Only the remote is needed so there are no wires to be in the way. Funny STRIKE and SPARE graphics will change as you get more in a game....Maybe eventually a perfect game! ;)JWP.
Ps There is a Seperate Bowling Career feature also that saves your progress so that you can get paid :

This is a good bowling game if you like to have more options and greater detail

The game is much more detailed than the standard bowling game which comes on the "Sports" disk. If you are looking for something which is very simple, go with the "sports" disk.

Brunswick Pro Bowling (Wii)

This game has Great Graphics and is much more challenging than Wii Sports Bowling.
The game has different houses and changing oil patterns. Some houses will be oily and hard to hook the ball while others have the ball hooking out of the building. You can Change balls to counteract the lane conditions. The negative so far is that the remotes seem to change all the time. We bowled 1 game yesterday and had to switch remotes several times. I'm not sure what causes that. If your looking for a challenging bowling game, This is it. Have fun.Lire l'avis complet...
