Little Big Planet, Game of the Year Edition

I didnt get a chance to get the game when it first came out, but I can honestly say I missed out on a lot of things. the game has a constant internet connection going to help levels load super fast; and boy do they ever; as you run about in a side-scrolling 3D world. you have the ability to create your own character in most any way you choose.. skin color, clothing, hair, even decorate them with stickers and things, or put a flower in their hair. it features 4 player capability, both online and offline. you can even create your own levels, with many MANY intricate tools given to you throughout the game. the difficulty gets progressively harder as you play through, but the main attraction isnt the story mode, so its not terribly difficult, just tricky. as the aim is to play in a multiplayer fashion, the game even has an ability to play other people's levels from around the world, through the Community option. truly this is a game for anyone who likes to create, have fun, or even just tinker with explosives(yes, you can even put bombs in your levels)

The Game of the Year Edition fixed a lot of bugs from the original, some of which were actually very useful, and others quite detrimental. it even includes many MANY extras that would normally cost you over $30 to buy from the Content menu, such as the Metal Gear Solid themed levels; which are exquisitely done, and even come with special items for you to use in your levels to make them like MGS as well! even more content is being added, but some are being taken away. so the earlier you get this game, the better!

Little BigPlanet Review

You can’t change Little Big Planet’s direction as a platform game with one-hit kills, but it’s only a matter of time before somebody makes a great photo booth lounge or full-field sport. The Media Molecule crew must be terrified.

My biggest warning is that Little Big Planet demands an Internet connection. You need four players to collect all the Story Mode prizes, and there just aren’t enough in-game levels. Costumes are meant to show off, and custom levels are meant to share with an audience.

This also means that parents should think about whether Little Big Planet is appropriate for their children. It’s a great toy set, it’s got great creative potential, and it’s very kid-friendly, but like most any online service, it’s possible that you could hear swearing over voice chat and view penis-monster levels. At least a few community features let you flag offensive players for possible consequences.

My other warning is that the first few weeks of LBP may be rough. The closed beta period was fun, but four-person online games suffered from huge lag spikes. Most online games these days are flooded at first and then they stabilize, even World of Warcraft crashed on opening day. These problems usually level out soon after launch, but if the lag persists, though, it will be a serious blow to LBP’s multiplayer and online components.

Little Big Planet is just what Doctor Sony ordered: universally appealing gameplay with an appealing everyman hero that is connected to streaming delivery of new content. Sony should be lauded for such a gamble, and Media Molecule should be praised. This is a rare toy that has the capacity to inspire the inventor, the explorer, and the gamer.

LittleBigPlanet - PS3

I have played this game before on my friend's system. I decided to buy a PS3 and knew I had to get Little Big Planet.

This game is based around addicting platform style gaming as well as a fun and always changing story line. You will go from playing a level that takes a lot of patience and strategy to an absolutely fun a fast-paced level so as to give the player relief from constant stressful levels. The music is awesome and fitting for continuous platforming. Everything about the campaign levels pulls the player in a keeps the player always interested.

Aside from all the fun, the power that is packed into this cute and unassuming little game is far beyond impressive. This game's story line is based around an ever expanding universe created by the world's combined imagination. When I speak of power I speak of the player's ability to create fully customizable levels that are based in real life physics. Everything has a weight and everything moves based on its mass and the in-game gravity. It is truly impressive to play through the levels and see how intricately they have designed them. The player himself is given the tools and abilities to be able to create the same kinds of deep levels as the creators have done, and could even go further. It takes but one's imagination and patience to create a beautifully sculpted masterpiece.

Aside from the amazingly developed campaign and level building modes, they have created a deeply immersive network of user-created levels. You and your friends can play in levels that people from around the world have created, thus achieving a part of the games basis of its story. If you don't have anyone to play on the network content you can always join up with other player from around the world.

Final say: This game redefines platformers and is as impacting as the original Mario Bros. This has risen the bar and will go down in gaming history as one of the best games ever created!

amazing graphics.fun.addicting.multiplayer

So far this is one of my favorite ps3 games. In this game you control you're own 'sackperson' when you play the levels you accumulate stickers, decorations, costumes, etc. So you can dress up your sackperson and decorate your 'pod' which is where you start your levels from. The levels do get harder the further you progress but they are beatable so younger kids shouldn't have a problem. The graphics are amazing and very realistic. You can grab onto anything that is made of a soft material. Any age group would love the game from a kid to an adult. There are a lot of different things you can do as well. You can play online so other players can help you get stickers (some levels have certain points that need 2 to 4 players to get the stickers) you don't need to play online if you can't, but if you really want the stickers you'll have to get a wireless internet connection. Then you can also make your own levels and play other levels people have made. It's a game you can go back to again and again and there will always be something new to play. I hope that they come out with an add on to this with more of their levels though because it's a great game!Lire l'avis complet...

The Perfect Game!

The main storyline is that you play in a world conjured up by everyone's dreams. This game is exactly that - if you can dream it, you can make it! From customizing your character, "Sackboy", in just about any way imaginable, to creating your own levels, to even designing your own home space, or, "Pod", this game pretty much works for you! Tons of customization items can be found throughout levels, letting you let your Sackboy represent YOU. Using stickers and added decorations, you can fully customize the design of your Sackboy. You can also save the outfits that you make for your Sackboy, so that you can wear any outfit you make whenever you want. You can use stickers and decorations found on levels to customize the look of your Pod to the design of your EXACT liking. Still not enough? You can create your own levels, making them exactly how you want to. The tools that are given to you allow you to make your levels look as professional as the levels in-game. You can use designs that you unlock for your level, or you can creat your own designs, both 2D and 3D, by editing the existing ones. The sky is the limit - no - there IS NO LIMIT to the customization and fun that this game brings to the table. The story mode has amazing levels, and you can play them alone, or, for added fun, with friends! All in all, this game is WAY MORE than I expected it to be, and, in my opinion, it is one of the greatest, most innovative games ever created, hands down. You will definitely be blown away by this game, a clear 'Game of the Decade' nominee! (If such a prize exists!) :]Lire l'avis complet...

Addictive gameplay, much more with local multuplayer

This game has interesting and unique features, and addictive gameplay wich
is very much more fun when played with your friends in local multiplayer.

- Gameplay
Very simple gameplay, with actions like jump, grab, push buttons and placing stickers, with very tricky scenarios.

- Local multiplayer
Very much fun, can unlock additional stickers with co-operative sections of the stages and challenges.

- Online multiplayer
Very fun, but you must have the Bluetooth Headset for better interaction.

- Level creation
Gives you almost infinite possibilities for expanding the gameplay, though it takes some time to get used to the controls and tools.

- DLC
There's pretty much content you can download through PSN to expand your game world or customize you sack-boy, from movie-themes like Pirates of the Carribean to other game universes like Metal Gear and Sonic.

This is it! Its a must-have title for those who have a PS3, I'm sure all of you will have much fun playing with your little sack-boy in his Little Big Planet.

Little Big Planet ROCKS!!!

What can I say about little big planet? Well, I hadn't planned on purchasing a Playstation 3 for some time, and then all of a sudden, I had an HD TV in my home. HD TV's demand a blu-ray player, and the one I wanted, conveniently, had a PS3 attached to it ;)

Little Big Planet intruigued me from day one. As soon as I saw the art style, side-scrolling play, and multi-player action, I wanted to play Little Big Plannet. So neat too that you can create your own levels and share!

The controls are a bit wonky as you move left or right on, what I would decribe as, one of three plains or rails. This takes a little bit of getting use to, and the analog stick complicates the process, but don't worry about that, you'll still have fun with this game!!! I guess I was a little bummed to see the visuals at 720p instead of 1080p (this is a 1080p capable system, right!?), but again, don't let that discourage you, because the game looks great!!!

All in all, Little Big Planet is recommended for anyone who harks back to the days of when NES was king, and side-scrollers were everywhere! I would also recommend Little Big Planet for anyone interested in a fun and quirky new world . . . that's you younger generation gamers ;) The create-a-level function is great too. Little Big Planet will without a doubt going to become a PS3 staple, so get it now, get it later . . . just get it, and join the unique fun!

A Surprising Title

A friend of mine suggested that this game was going to be revolutionary in the online multiplayer genres and when I was shown previews of it (when it first came out), I was skeptical about its abilities and was quick to denounce it as a kid's game. But, a few months later I was given the chance to actually play it and my opinion changed. I still wouldn't call it revolutionary, but what I saw in it was enough to make me buy my own copy.

Little Big Planet is a throwback to the Mario & Super Mario generation that grew up on systems like Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and Nintendo 64. The in-line advancement play we all grew up on is there, but with new generation features that really take an old 2D world into 3D and the 21st century. The characters are extremely simple and right out of a Tim Burton film, thus allowing for cuteness for kids but more adult-like themes as well. You have enemies to defeat, just like the old Mario and Sonic classics, but you also have to think and plan ahead a lot to manipulate the world you're playing in. It's action, adventure, and strategy all rolled into one cool game.

The multiplayer abilities are pretty good, too. Everyone has to keep up with everyone else and if they get separated from the group, they die and respawn at the next checkpoint which keeps everyone from having to wait for others to catch up. Playing with others on the same system is a breeze, but online play can lag a lot depending on the world/level you are in. But, the fact that all the worlds are user-created by others is really neat, definitely a first. You can create your own worlds once you get the hang of the game as well, and just about everything is customizable (your characters, your pod, etc). The best part is you can play user-created levels on your own if you don't feel like sharing or want to prevent lag.

So, other than lag on some user-created world with online play, this game is a nice addition that isn't too violent for kids, but something adults can really enjoy too.

Horribly addicting and ridiculously cute

Over Thanksgiving I was exposed to my cousin's PS3 and this game for the first time. The graphics are amazing and the game play is simple, but challenging. The controls are very easy, but using them to conquer the levels can be very difficult.

Not only are the levels fun, but the online playability is fantastic. You can customize the look of your SackBoy and play with others in game levels or community designed levels. Communicating during the game is easy with a voice or text option.

You just have to play it. After playing it once, I knew I had to get it and a PS3. It is absurdly addicting, but terribly cute at the same time. There is a great network around it and neat little features.

I absolutely see why it was rated the best game of the year.

Funnest game ever played.

What i love about Little Big Planet is how you are given the ability to create any level you can possibly think of; create any type of enemies you can think of; create any type of Sackboy you can think of. This game, in my opinion, is great; it's very fun and i'd rate it 10/10. I love how you can add your pictures onto the game to be creative and make things while you're creating a level. There's just one thing i don't like a bit of Little Big Planet is putting music that on to levels that is created by the developers of LBP, but i soon discovered that you can make your own songs for your levels which found pretty interesting. The reason i bought this game was because i played the demo and i loved it, so i decided to get me a copy of Little Big Planet off of eBay. i would highly recommend this game to anyone that loves adventure/Puzzle Games you'll have tons of fun playing on levels created by other people on Playstation Network and the Little Big Planet Community itself. --- 10/10Lire l'avis complet...
