The greatest multiplayer shooter on the PSP!

This game is awesome! I picked it up about 3-4 months ago when I had a PSP. I sold my PSP though because I think the system is way to expensive and overrated but this review isn't about the PSP system. My 3 friends own Socom: FTB and obviously they all have PSP's. So I thought that I would pick it up at my local Bull Moose Music at a cheap price because it looked pretty cool. So I purchased it for like $22 used a few months back and it was well worth the money. I purchased the game, brought it home and played it. I couldn't believe how cool it was playing Socom portably. Well I beat everything on the game, got every single unlock and it took forever. Though it was well worth it and only took about a week to beat. Though I accidentally deleted it off my memory stick when I worked my tail off playing it like 4 hours a day for a week so I sold the game and about a month later sold my system for an Xbox. Stupid move to some. smart move in the perspective of others. So lets break it down.
Game play- 9
The great game we all know as Socom is now portable. How sweet is that? The game play is very smooth and couldn't get much better. It's just like the PS2 version but without the big controller and everything. The game to me is incredible. The fact of what the PSP games are going to be like in the future, and what they are now, show what a bunch of hard working people can do. Though I said I sold my PSP that was my own personal decision and it's because I'm a big Madden fan and wanted to play it on the Xbox system. Though the game play is great and you can unlock characters such as the elite seal. The Elite Seal has all the best stats that you can have and is pretty hard to unlock. You have to complete all the "Instant Action" levels on all the difficulties and then you will have him. I also rented Socom 3 for PS2 and transferred a lot of data from my friend’s memory card onto the game through the PSP's USB cord. I did kinda cheat there I borrowed my friends memory card and didn't actually do the work but I don't really care about Socom 3. I like Socom: FTB and that’s why I rented Socom 3. So don't make me out to be a cheater! lol but in a way we all cheat no matter how we look at it.

Graphics- 9
The graphics are wonderful. They’re exceptional for such a small portable system and really shows what the PSP can do. The graphics are in every way what you want from a game. When you shoot a guy in the head blood comes out the back of his head and sometimes on the wall depending how and where you shoot him. The graphics are just as good, if not better then the PS2's version but Socom: FTB was made for the PSP, PlayStation Portable DUH! It's a portable playstation of course there going to be alike.

Controls- 9
Great controls. I don’t want to tell you every button and bore you but the R button to fire and the analog stick is to move etc. You know how it goes. It's almost impossible for you to mess up while playing this. Well controls wise.

Overall- 9
This game gets a solid 9. The game play is great, the graphics are great, the controls are great, and the online mode is great. Everything is great. It's just a great game. If you own a PSP system and if your reading this review then you probably do. Then I really suggest you get this game. If you’re a Socom fan then you HAVE to get this game. Go anywhere Walmart, Gamestop, Bull Moose Music, Ebay, wherever you get your games. This game is one of if not the best shooting game on the PSP system.

Has its moments but spoiled by disrespectful people

The Socom: Fireteam Bravo single player is decent and fun. It's the usual "save the world" from terrorists type game with a decent story line as well. I enjoyed the single player, but it's not a high-end single player game. This game gets the most enjoyment from playing the online. .The multiplayer gaming is really fun and competitive. And after a few weeks, I got really good at it. The controls are pretty good, and there's a lock-on feature to shoot down the target. Some people may have a problem with this, but I didn't have a problem with it, considering that there's one analog nub on the PSP.
Now for the negative part and why this gets a 2/5 is because: After playing this game for quite a bit, I grew tiresome of the utterly rude and annoying people. There's absolutely obscene and inappropriate language going on. Of course, you can mute the game, but that takes away the sound and point of the game. No one respects anyone in this game. And as with every game, there's cheating going on all the time. All that right there, took away the fun and potential of how great this game could be. It's too bad this game has to get ruined by people who spew such disgusting language out of their mouths.
If you don't have a problem in the world about other people swearing and disrespecting you, then buy the game and knock yourself out. However, if you do have a problem and want to be respected, stay away from the infrastructure. You can still have fun with the single-player, but it's not as competitive or agressive as the online. There's also an option to port forward your router so that you won't hear people talk on the mic at all. No doubt, the mic does help you strategize with your clan/teammates, but it really misses the aspect of it. I chose to get rid of this game because I've already beat the single player, and I find it a waste of my time to listen to such obscene language. 2/5

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo MY View

I decided to buy this game for the PSP to play online. The game does play online with ease. The mission games are great and fun to play ,good graphics and easy controls. The online games are not quite what I expected. The maps are really to small, but it does have built in chat if you have the headset with mic, which is cool. Overall the games is not as good as the console ones but its close. The online play would be better if the maps were a bit largerLire l'avis complet...

Make you move and pay attention.

I never played a shooter in my psp before this game, now, i know what is it play as a military in my psp and play ONLINE. The server have their problems, but nothing serious, i had worse problems with Football games.

The graphics are very nice, i loved the sound and the movement of the game. Every mission is every mission, nothing repeat, you got hard times and easy times.

You can do some training in the fast playing, like SMALL missions.

Overall, is a good game, like in the consoles and the best, PLAY ONLINE!

Great game for the PSP. By far the best!

I got the Sony PSP a couple of months back. Now mind you I dont any Sony game systems. I own the Nintendo DS, Gameboy advanced and Game Cube. I also have the Xbox. I wanted to play Socom on the PS2 but it would require me to buy the PS2 so I decided not to since I have so many systems. Since I go the PSP, I decided to get the SOCOM: Fire Team Bravo. This game rocks. The opening is like a movie with a great soundtrack. Your characters and partner in the game make hilarious comments throughout the game. The graphics are awesome and the firefights are intense much like in real life. The game is much like a movie as you listen in on conversations and such. you have a wide variety in your arsenal. Even better for add-ons like grenade launcher, scope, and silencers. And let me tell you about the sound effects: it is just awesome. If you use the headphones, the sound is like surround sound. My problem is that I unlocked stuff in Fire team bravo that can be used in Socom 2 on the PS2. And you need to play Socom 2 to unlock stuff for Fireteam Bravo. Other than that it is a great game.Lire l'avis complet...

Socom, The Best Game On The PSP

Ever Since the PSP was released all I could see was the PSP's pure potential to be such a great gaming platform. All The games released up until now have been on a steady progression of improving graphics and game play. Every release has been a step forward in that evolution into the gaming machine the PSP is capable of being, and now PSP's fans around the globe, have Socom Navy Seals to look forward to! Will this be another step forward for the PSP?

BRING IT ON!

As Far as i can remember Socom for the PSP did not receive much of the hype that many PSP games have before their launch, which puzzled me because Socom has had such great success on the PS2. Socom was released rather quietly before christmas and i was fortunate enough to receive a copy of this in my stocking from none other than st.nick himself. I was overjoyed, because i had been looking forward to this title for a long time, and now the time had arrived! Will the title live up to my own hype?

There are 2 main modes in this version of Socom, Single player and multiplayer. In single player mode you, Sandman, and your partner, Lonestar get to take on all the bad guys in 4 different arenas around the world!. The game takes you across the world to Chile, Morocco, Asia and then on to Poland. In all there are 14 missions, that will see you attempt to complete a series of tasks. The tasks include bomb disposal, picture taking, and gathering intelligence on your enemies. The game environments are huge, and all look like their specific parts of the world. Really the main objective of the game is stealth and all of the arenas make this pretty easy. There are many things to hide behind or in, hide in a bush and blend in with the color of the leaves, Hide behind a rock and let the shade cover you so you cannot be seen. There is nothing more satisfying than hiding in a bush and using your sniper rifle to send your opponent crashing to the ground, or you could go all guns blazing and throw stealth to the ground, it is entirely up to you how you choose to play the game.

For those that have never played Socom, this game is based on a 2 man squad who work together like a swat team. You control your wingman Lonestar through a series of console commands that allow you control his 'behaviors' as well as actions. For example you can tell him to 'Fire at will' and he will engage any enemy that comes into his field of view, OR you can tell him to 'hold fire', 'Hold Position' and 'get down' making your job of sneaking around more manageable. My only real complaint about Lonestar is if you get too far ahead he often will forget his instructions and close the gap. This can be darned annoying when you're trying to crawl up behind a guard for a knife kill, only to see Lonestar walk up beside you! He can be very handy when entering doors. You can tell him to 'Frag then breach' and he will open the door and toss in a grenade, leaving you back to cover his entry and watch his back. Even with his imperfections, Lonestar is an integral part of this game and will save your tuna from the fire when you least expect it.

The AI is not as hard as some other games that are available today, but it is made up for by solid game play, and overall satisfaction of killing the terrorists. The game has weapons ranging from frag grenades, every weapon I can think of starting with the letter M, shotguns, grenade launchers, claymores, basically every weapon in the us arsenal is available. Best shooter for handhelds

I was really impressed with SOCOM for the PSP. Everything that you want in a game is there. A great single player storyline with excellent cut scenes. The single player is somewhat short but online is where the gaming is at. The graphics are superb and you can take the action online which is awesome.

Very expansive multiplayer with clans, news, ranking, everything that you would like to have and more. The auto aiming takes a little bit of the skill away but it is still very fun. If I had to write something negative about the game I would say the controls take a little time to get used to but the game becomes very addictive once the controls are learned. I have only heard good things about this game so I would recommend that you try it first to see how you will like it.

Awesome game.

After playing a short demo of this game I decided to buy it. This is a really good game. Good graphics, excellent sound effects, lots of action. I especially liked the sniper shots !! The game could use a little more missions and a few more weapons to chose from. Still, this is a great game which can be had for little money. I am buying the other releases of the game and would gladly recommend it to anyone !!Lire l'avis complet...

Great game!!!

I bought this game for my son that is currently in Iraq and loves to escape the madness with his Sony PSP. Anything to make him feel like he's home! I played the game to make sure it worked before I sent it and I was very impressed. Very easy game play and the graphics were awesome. Oher games of this genre sometimes have too many control options to execute a move and I didn't find that with SOCOM. The missions are challenging and the replay can be different by just changing the way you approach an enemy.
I highly recommend this game to people who enjoy this type of game and even if you don't...it's a great one to introduce you to a whole new world of gaming.
