Scarface, what's not to like

Wow Scarface, a great action flick staring Al Pacino and Michelle Pheiffer. Al Pacino kills hsi way to the top of Miam's drug organization, killing off his friends and business partners along the way. Eventually his quest for power leads to his downfall. Sure all of us have seen Scarface on TV, but the DVD leaves nothing out, all the swearing and blood are still there.

With the DVD you get bonus features of deleted scenes, the making of Scarface, comparing it to the orginal 1932 movie, and how the characters were created. If you are an action fan or like Al Pacino, you have to own this movie.

Acting is great, the characters come alive and work well in their roles, the screenplay fun, the story awesome, it's a rise to power story about a young man, there is nothing bad about this movie. Except for it's almost 3 hrs in length, but so is Titanic, and people still sat through that crud.

The world is yours!

When i watched this movie i sat in total disbelief at the pure beauty of it and when it ended i stood up and clapped as the cinematic class of this movie had pushed it into my top 5 movies of all time. I have watched all the good and excellent gangster movies but this one stood out like no other.
It stood out for a reason. The reason was that it seemed more closer to modern day and didn't just involve italian mob members it involved the crinimal underground of the miami shoreline. The cocaine driven crinimal underworld is corrupted when Cuban Tony Montana trys to work his way out of poverty to be the ruler of the crinimal life in miami. He eventually makes it to the the top by being one of the most ruthless gansters ever depicted on film.

The music is unique and very fitting for the 80s setting given to the film. The music is weird when you first hear as you feel astonished like your in the 80s but you soon get used to it and then love it. It is the basis of what the award winning 5 star game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City used for its soundtrack.

This film is not for the faint at heart as directer Brian De Palma 3 times had the film rejected because it had and X-Rated certificate. He literally had to take the people who give the certificates out to court.

I am writing a scarface review so i am going to have to say it "say hello to my leeetle friend". That is but one of the classic lines in this film and after it you will be thinking that same line over and over agin.

The reason you will not hear this film praised with any awards like academy awards and golden globes is because the critics hated its very grusome betrayal of gangs in miami. Ths is a stupid reason for not praising it as brilliant as after extensive research oliver stone (screenplay) found many stories in miami about chainsaw murders and mass murders.

Al pacino is easily my favourite actor of all time. I loved him in the Godfather and Donnie Brasco but in this he really does excell himself and make a point that he should be definitely held side by side amonst the best actors of all time. Al pacino is envied by the biggest of hollywood stars about this movie as many actors like Bruce Willis and Tom Cruise always do impressions of mob leader Tony Montana

Although grotesquely brutal this movie could teach kids good lessons that crime does not pay as when he gets to the top of the underworld his life coorupts through cocaine and he ends up killing the ones he loves and watching ones he loves die in crossfire.

The Special edition version of the film is worth buying over the original one disk version as it costs the same and you get the interesting techniques used to create this stunningly interesting epic movie.

This film is a remake of the original scarface which if you happen to stumble across is worth buying as it has a different storyline and is acted brilliantly and has some memorable scenes.Lire l'avis complet...

Brutal yet well worth having!

This is a real nice movie despite some graphic violence, certainly not for the kids. Its a great look at a character that seeks to make good in a culture that seems to have a lot to offer for those with a "carpe diem" sort of attitude in that they are willing to "seize the day!" as it were and whatever it is they are called upon to do in order to achieve whatever success in material form that can come their way in the land of plenty, the land of opportunity, not known for showering favors on the meek.

Michele Pfeiffer is not in her element at all and deserves to be rescued from the main actors in the plot of this movie, it ravages her soul to be demeaned as a pice of property to be yanked back and forth in a competition for the top spot of thug in a rather ugly manner.

In the end the clash of cultures, the need for some sense of sanity for some morals in a culture gone amok to venerate the buck over everything good and decent is something that will finally need to be taken seriously so that we do in fact end up with an allocation of resources based on merit rather than brute force and with a society that is safe and truly just rather than brutally insane.

Al Pacino is always great and loved by his fans, count me in on this one, he is the best there is! The movie is worth watching and owning, we even donated a copy to the local library here.Lire l'avis complet...

Scarface

"Scarface" is one of the greatest of all mob movies. It's an epic crime drama done with style and care. Brian DePalma presents a film that ignites the screen with a great screenplay by Oliver Stone and an amazing performance by Al Pacino. Unlike "The Godfather," which was more about family and relationships between father and son, "Scarface" is an exhilarating and intriguing journey into Miami's mob underworld, seen through the eyes of Tony Montana, a Cuban refugee with some of the greatest lines in movie history. The degree of excess here is brilliantly done and adds even more realism to a great work. DePalma shows a wonderful touch of style in the sets, costumes, cars, even in the violence. Look at the brilliant eye for composition he shows in a scene where an assassination attempt is carried out on Tony in a nigh club. The movie is full of that Latin style and intensity. The screeenplay By Oliver Stone is brilliant because it's complex in the way in which we are not just interested in the action, but characters and events as well. We really care about what happens with these people, least of all Tony. Pacino gives one of the greatest and most intense performances, always believable. He steals the show entirely through his accent and facial expressions. The action sequences aren't dim-witted, but smart and stylish. Scarface

After years of diplomatic silence between the United States and Cuba, Castro opens the port of Mariel Harbor, Cuba, to thousands emmigrating to the United States in search of the American dream. Shrewdly, Castro also unlocks the overpacked prisons, allowing hordes of criminals to join the refugees. Tony Montana, a small time hood, is one of them. In Florida, Montana connects with gangster Frank Lopez, and guns his way through the sun washed streets of Miami where he finds power, wealth and passion. Those who have not seen this movie be forewarned. It is one of the most graphic, vulgar movies...well...pretty much I think ever made. definitely not for the weak of heart, unless you can handle chainsaws and point-blank shotgun kills. Great movie and great value!

I recently purchased this movie because it's an all time classic, essential to any great DVD collection. This anniversary edition is remastered with better sound & viewing quality - much better than the original version. The two disc combo gives you plenty of different features so you get deleted scenes, commentary and behind the scenes looks at the making of the film, as well as a short documentary on how the classic film influenced much of the rap/hip-hop culture of today, featuring many known artists in the industry.Lire l'avis complet...
