The Ultimate Action Movie

A John Woo (Face/Off, Broken Arrow) classic starring Yun-Fat Chow (Bulletproof Monk, Curse of the Golden Flower, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End).

This is an action film with a capital A. Just imagine the last 20 minutes of Commando with Arnold and you will get a taste of the entire movie. The action only stops for some fantastic singing by Sally Yeh, who plays the girl he blinded in the process of one of his kills.

Of course, it is over the top, as he never has to reload and he often empties two clips into each kill. They never stop coming! I could not imagine how they got so many targets into three cars.

If you like Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, then you will love John Woo. He is the master of stylized violence. This is pure violence with no special effects.

It is also a movie about friendship. It is so interesting to see how the cop and the killer become one and even trade places at the end. Beautiful! Just a beautiful movie.Lire l'avis complet...

A Masterpiece.

This film is as if Hitchcock were to do an action flick. Whomever own rights to this really needs to give this DVD a deserved treatment. I know Criterion has released it but I've heard and seen no difference between the Fox Lober edition or Criterion. I've heard and seen a region 4 release that does this DVD justice but I don't own a multi-regional dvd player. The Fox Lober release really isn't all that bad, actually it's not bad at all. It's just that this movie is so great that it make the viewer long for a more crisp, enhanced version is all. All in all though I'm very pleased and have enjoyed this film many times in only the short time I've owned it.Lire l'avis complet...

Chow Yun Fat at his best!

If you like lots of action this movie is for you. The killer is my favorite Chow Yun Fat movie. If you like the john wick movies, you will like this movie! Chow is a beast in this movie!

Hong Kong Action Cinema at its Best.

John Woo's, "The Killer" is, in my opinion, the best of the "Heroic Bloodshed" genre. It is a combination of the directorial vision of John Woo, cinematic wizardry of Tsui Hark (Hong Kong's Spielberg), and the dramatic talents of Chow Yun Fat.
