Film that ages well

A great film that speaks to the effect fame and fortune can have on one. The "Wall" is the defense mechanism built up by "Pink' as he battles with his past and, current fame. When I first saw this film in the theater I thought it was just a trippy, video rendition of the album. Ok movie, very bleak, but wonderful music!

As a huge Pink Floyd fan, I am obligated to give this film a positive review. The music is truly great. Bob Geldof’s portrayal of Pink is powerful. You can’t really say that you “enjoy watching” this film, though, as the world view that it exudes is so bleak. Reading the credits, you get the idea that this film was a Roger Waters solo project as David Gilmour and Nick Mason are hardly mentioned ~ I think Rick Wright had already been forced out of the band by this time.

Me, The Wall, and a Deserted Island

This film may be considered only a 'cult classic' in mainstream circles but amoung my crowd it's an epic film of iconic proportions. It stirs up feelings and thoughts within the viewer to such a degree that it may be used as a tool to unfold your mind, that is, helping one's mind to work bigger and better than before. Problems experienced prior to viewing The Wall seem to melt away as a brand new shiny, sparkly way to think and live your life blossom like an indigo rose on a chilly spring morning. It entertains with an unheralded visual display of thought-provoking animations, characters, scenery and settings; simultaneously hinting of decadence and structure, life and love, peace, war, and silly taboos, and the potential within each member of humanity to become fully the god that lies dormant within each of us. Pink Floyd's "The Wall" is one of my favorite movies

I saw the movie "The Wall" by Pink Floyd the first day it showed in Mobile. It seems so long ago now. But the DVD movie refreshed my memory very well! I loved the music, the acting, the animation, the writers, the direction, the... well... everything about it. The movie added quite a bit of content and visualization to the picture, the music, and the lyrics painted in my mind.

I sure do miss seeing The Wall on a movie theater's big screen. My 21" TV does not do the movie justice. It's ok... but I bet it would look much better on an up-to-date oversized HD Plasma TV. Hmmmm.

By the way... my son-in-law watched the movie for the first time and loved it too! We were discussing the songs on the album and he was surprised when I mentioned that there was a movie. So, I ordered it off ebay for less than half of the store price (that includes... the DVD + shipping & handling) and here I am telling you how much I (we) enjoyed watching it at home this time around.Lire l'avis complet...

SHOWING FEELINGS OF A MOST PECULIAR NATURE WILL NOT DO

The eBay review starts by saying, "Loosely based on the life story of Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd's original front man (who was kicked out of the band for his bizarre and disturbing behavior only to go insane shortly thereafter) . . ."

Most of Pink Floyd's double CD set is put to DVD including British war scenes from WWII, a child who lost his father to the war, tried to fit into his stalwart uniform, society in general, and was likely so sensitive a man that it drive him nuts to live in such a brutal world of violence.

Aminator Gerald Scarfe takes unfilmable scenes of an abused child's life and adult imaganation and makes them into highly effective art to Pink Floyd's best musical score.

After seeing many a rock music movie, The Wall is the real thing. The musical interpretation and animated horrification of an extremely talented man who had every reason from birth onwards not to be.

As an adult child who also lost their father as a toddler, the film had me in tears because it rang too true to my own real life experience during the same historical period. I hope that other fatherless adult children have the opportunity to see and hear The Wall. The heavy rock music and graphic animation are somehow healing.Lire l'avis complet...

Fantastic value on a classic

I bought this disc because of price and it came from Goodwill. The description in the listing was sparce and to my surprise it also has 2 documentaries and a host of other features. The soundtrack of the film is in digitally remastered 5.1 from the original master copies of the original recording. Score, what an unexpected bonus. A favorite for decades.

Finding a copy of The Wall is tough, it's been out if print due to ongoing legal disputes with band members. Finding a copy in such great shape is awesome! My son just discovered Pink Floyd and was dying to watch the film. Now that he has, he's been buying all their LPs at the local record store! Win/win!Lire l'avis complet...

This is a classic movie still enjoyable.

Of course the soundtrack to this movie is incredible the animation equally enjoyable. There's also extra features which describe and Roger Waters on words what he liked about the movie things he disapproved of and a lot of explanations behind some of the ideas and artworks that ended up in the film. Floyd the wall

I'm still amazed at how much I love this film. As a teenager we used to sit around and party with this on. Fun times. Watching it now in life brings back good memories and I can see all the love and time they put into this film and appreciate the effort to make this a timeless masterpiece for everyone.
