Sex, drugs, & rock n' roll - 18th Century style! I came across this movie years ago when I rented it at Blockbusters. It is quite a fascinating movie with superb acting. The music is opera and yet so very engaging with each scene.

So, because I loved the movie so very much, I decided to purchase the musical soundtrack. However, I must confess that I prefer the video movie with the soundtrack over the CD soundtrack alone.Lire l'avis complet...

FARINELLI il Castrato

Truly pleasant listening for those who appreciate the soprano voice. These songs were sung in the 16th and 17th centuries by "castratos" (males who'd been castrated when young to retain their "boy soprano" voice). Sung here by Ewa Mallas-Godlewska, she of the beautifully rich voice so easy to listen to. No piercing high notes, instead, a lovely voice singing delightful Neapolitan songs perfectly suited for her beautiful voice which treats the highs with dignity and beauty. I loved it and stayed up `til 2a.m. listening to it. What a listening pleasure! And, the final selection is an instrumental treat which is icing on the cake.Lire l'avis complet...
