The London Rock And Roll Show

A dynamite event that's criminally been whittled down to a 30 minute documentary. The original legends of R&R are only given between 1/2 a song and two songs apiece in this film. An editor that gives twice as much film time to a shlub like Bill Haley, than to a kick ass act like Bo Diddley, should really get a job at a candy store instead selling rolling papers.
I bought it for the Jerry Lee content, but Little Richard and Bo Diddley were also fantastic acts. Jerry Lee Lewis in 1972 needs no qualification from me. Chuck Berry must have been great, but they only show him yelling hail hail rock and roll, not much more than that. There's no film of him duck walking, or even playing! Bill Haley, of course, shouldn't have even been filmed, and as great an act as Little Richard was, he showed himself to be a desperate person with a bigger mouth than even his ego in his interview. The audience too were an act themselves. The producers got Mick Jagger to say a few things, but nothing noteworthy.
Being that the film is only 30 minutes long, that they wasted celluloid on Bill Halley, and hardly showed any Chuck at all, would prevent anybody from rating it as good, BUT, it is good quality film, well shot, and those other guys are shown rocking their asses off.
