Excellent sound with comfort/material quality as a trade-off

Well to start off 5 stars as for me sound quality is most important thing with headphones.
Was looking at buying headphones/headsets, and didn't see anything I liked under 70$ brands like AKG/Bose... and had things like gaming headsets Logitech G930... so about headphones, Sennheiser invested pretty much entire budget in the drivers as they sound excellent, flat response, no coloring and you can clearly tell that the sound they produce rivals those of much higher price. Cable is 3m long, so quite long and you get the adapter kinda like the one that goes in guitar amps, sound boards. Also they come nicely packaged.

Cons: Well the cable itself is very thin, so if you're rough with your headphones, that's a no go. Material quality isn't that great, as it's just plastic all around, and earcups, headrest pieces aren't too comfortable for longer listening session, I can go for maybe an hour before it gets uncomfortable.

TLDR: Can't beat sound quality at the price, but Sennheiser made trade-offs, so build quality and comfort isn't that good.Lire l'avis complet...

Perfect for watching films etc, very comfortable - good value for money

Bought these as a pair just to use for watching films and using at my computer for long periods of time, i have a couple other pairs of headphones for music production etc.

First thoughts were that the pads feel really cheap compared to my other ones but expected really for £18.
Overall very comfortable and do what i wanted them for perfectly, can wear them for hours without any discomfort.

Sound quality is pretty good for the price, Low end is quite weak tho and can't handle really high volumes too well (sub bass distorts) so wouldn't recommend for bass heavy music.Lire l'avis complet...

Good for casual listener, not pro for sure!

Maybe this would sound funny but I originally bought these because I thought they will serve me as sound isolating headphones for my vocalbooth. Well they don't there is bleeding going on and it can't be stopped. Yes, I wanted to get by very cheap, I know that kind of headphones cost much more, but I still use them now for listening to my songs after I made mastering. Well to be frank, I don't quite like the sound of these. There is way to low bass, and the overall volume is low. They are good buy for a casual listener who wants to listen to a song or two, but Audiophiles stay away.Lire l'avis complet...

Listen privately and in comfort!

Have had these headphones for approx two months. I use them for music and general media listening.

Sound quality is excellent. Bass/Treble (non adjustable) ratio seems well balanced
They are comfortable (Most comfortable 'phones I have ever worn)

Generous length of wire is accurately calculated for armchair listening.

Used as general band monitors

I was not expecting them to be very good but I must say that I was amazed on the first listen. These cans offer immense precision when it comes to the mid and upper ranges. This is especially evident when you hear the crisp snaps of the snare drums in an audio recording.

However, the bass is there, just not as upfront as you would expect from Sennheiser. The bass is VERY tight, and provides an overall well-balanced sound. Some people say that the bass is lacking, but they are incorrect, This headphone has a lighter bass load

For a student lifestyle and budget you won't get better!

Value for money, great sound, great fit and easy long enough cable.
Housemate that is a amateur DJ still uses these for music and gaming. He's had his for over 5 years and still as good as new!
I would advise any looking for over ear head phones with a lower end budget you will not get better than these Sennheiser HD201's.
Tough and strong enough to be thrown around, into bags and survive a general student lifestyle.

Can't speak more highly of them.

Outstanding quality for the price.

I'm just one of the army that loves this product. The quality at this price is outstanding. Used primarily for home recording the level of comfort and sound quality is excellent. Plenty of low end frequencies for a powerful sound. It has a long very useful long lead too.
There may well be better sounding phones out there but you will have to pay a lot more, the 5 star rating refers to the sound quality/comfort for the price.Lire l'avis complet...

it hurts to use

the sound qality is okay.
but its not good at all to have on my head. after 30min its hurts so bad on my ears.

you can never go wrong with Sennheiser

Sound wise you can never go wrong with a Sennheiser headphone. Lightweight - that always get compliments from friends who uses other brands (I own three different models - the favorite still HD215). Comfortable to wear. Only four stars because the cable is `old-school` rigid. It gives me some impractical moments as I use to walk away from the sound source.Lire l'avis complet...

I think HD201 are the best headphones in its price range.

Great headphones for the price. Works great even with iPhone (and other players).
Sound is well balanced. This headphones can be used for over an hour without problems. Pretty comfortable they are :-)
