Great Pedal.
Love this pedal! You get a ton of gain from the volume knob (Micro Amp), and the tone knob (Echoplex) helps make the highs not so ear piercing.
If you place it in your effects loop, it basically works as a volume pedal. IT IS LOUD this way! Barely on a 1.5 outta 10 and it's just ridiculous in volume. However, you rob yourself of the natural gain from the Micro Amp built in this pedal. So I don't reccomend using it this way because it's just too good to use as a basic volume boost for solos. Placing it in front of your amp seems to give enough boost in volume to cut through so people can hear ya. Also really helps with sustaine and harmonics.
This doesn't come with a 9V battery if buying new. You can't even place one in it actually. You need a separate cable adapter to connect a 9V battery directly. It uses a 9V cable that you plug into an outlet. Long cable too, so that's nice.
It also has a trimpot if you take off the back. This will adjust the output of the Echoplex Preamp Circuit. So you can decide how much of those high frequencies you want to cut out. Keep in mind, this will make it sound more hissy as you increase the output.

mxr mini booster
Tried it before and after effects, with and without the echoplex.. For me, using it as a straight boost it works best at the end of the chain with the echoplex completely off. It was to me totally transparent. If this is what you want save half of the price and buy TC's mini boost. I then tried it before different dirt with the echoplex on and I got different reactions, I heard a good boost and more overdrive with one pedal and a good boost with no apparent added overdrive on a different pedal That's where I ended up using it to justify spending double the money on a boost pedal.Lire l'avis complet...

Great tone when engaged and no tone suck when it isn't. Having the treble control allows you to use it as a treble boost, and having the internal gain control lets you use it as an overdrive/boost.

without finding a vintage mxr micro amp or a new micro amp, this is the way to go, a simple boost.
