The Good Son

This is one of my favorite movies. Macaulay Culkin was excellent in this. The Good Son is about Mark(Elijah Wood), a young boy suffering in the recent loss of his mother, going to visit his aunt, uncle, and two cousins in Maine while his dad takes a business trip to Tokyo. Cousin Henry Evans(Macaulay Culkin) is Mark's age and they soon become good friends and have loads of fun each day, but soon Mark starts to see another side of Henry when they start putting some of Henry's ideas into action, including throwing a dummy called Mr.Highway over an overpass that causes a huge multi car wreck and a big smile on Henry's face, and shooting a dog with a homemade gun. Mark starts to think Henry deliberatly tried to kill his liitle brother years ago, and is plotting to kill the rest of the family. BE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING

Not the Macaulay Culkin we are used to in Home Alone. There are some shocking moments which would upset some children and their parents, involving death and the twisted mind of a young boy. This is a very good movie. It's a helpful tool to use in showing some youth how to respond when someone worries or frightens them. Still, I would advise cautious parents to view this movie first to decide whether it is right for the rest of their family. The story is one to be digested, not simply viewed. It may cause some parents to take a closer look at one of their own children. Everyone in this story is wonderful and believable. It is fiction, but so well played we could easily believe it a biography. Chilling

This is one that will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Dealing with an evil sib, it portrays the confusion and struggle of his opposite to convince parents unable or unwillilng to see that there was a juvenile monster in their midst. The thing that makes this one deserve an excellent rating is that in this day and age of dysfuntional and wacked out families and familial relations, it's entirely plausible. The anguish of the mother, who when finally convinced is palpable, and she is forced to what surely (had it been in real life)a devastating choice. This is the kind of stuff that makes a psychiatrist's day, and the headlines the next morning. It ain't Home Alone, but it's still awesome!

I don't know why this film got such a bad rep. To each their own, I guess.

I fell in love with this film when I first saw it. There's lots of great things in it: The drama, the characters, the score, and the suspense.

The Good Son is Good!

I love this movie!! It's disturbing and creepy just as it should be. Mr. Highwayman even loved it! It moves at a great pace, and most of the movie is centered on the 2 boys (the "good" son and the "bad" son). As the "good" boy realizes what the "bad" one is up to, it becomes more suspensful and thrilling. I liked this better than "The Bad Seed" which is the same thing!Lire l'avis complet...
