I am a woodworker & luthier and use my end mill for guitar necks and bridges. I also make tools and do some other metalworking.

I got this to replace my keyed r8 chuck for most of my smaller drilling tasks. I did not check the r8 arbor. I used a 3/8 end mill and measured runout 1/2' down the shaft. First time I seated the chuck runout was about 4 thou which seems to fall into expected tolerance for this price range. Reseated chuck again, carefully cleaning the r8 arbor and seat - runout went down to a little over one thou. For the money, this seems like a great chuck.

This only opens to 3/8, but I've got my keyed chuck for bigger stuff, For locating and spotting in this will be a perfect addition to my bench mill. Not having to mess around with a key is a big plus.Lire l'avis complet...
