Couldn't believe it
The first thing I noticed is how compact it is for a long lens.
Second, the lens appears bright when viewing. I expected it to look like a long lens thru the camera. But, it is clear and sharp with some jitter. You can hold it steady as compared to other long lenses I have tried to hand hold. I am using it on a Micro-Four Thirds camera and the lens is light enough to be held pretty steady free-standing.
Leaning against nearly anything secures the image pretty well.
Since it is a manual focus lens, it takes a bit to get the hang of focusing. The vendor mentions a bit of color around the object just as you set the focus, and that actually helps. Using the focus assist on the camera (4x) is pretty much useless hand held. I assume tripod mounting would help considerably.
I intend to use this as my long lens in the bag and assume it is good enough to do some wildlife photography without a tripod.
One thing I noticed right away is that the infinity setting is not really what I expected. Even photographing something miles away, it needed to be brought toward the 60ft setting. A minor issue. I was able to focus on items well inside of 10 feet with this lens.
Overall, it was well worth the gamble on a little known brand. I will need this when venturing throughout Europe this summer. It is compact enough to be a regular carry in my day pack. Lire l'avis complet...
