Visual Novel + Fighting Type Game = Fun?

Good game full of characters from Persona 4 and some new characters...well they're new only if your only Persona game before this was Persona 4 Golden.

It's a fighting style game but it's also a visual novel type in Story Mode so beware of that. I get bored after unneeded dialogue, but there's constant voice acting, and it's the good type! Excellent fighting game with some challenging aspects!

Definitely follows the Persona storylines but in fighting game form. The fighting/learning curve is a lot less than the Guilty Gear series making this game alot enjoyable! But beware ,the story lines are long but compelling! Enjoy! The extra bonus music disc has an excellent number of jazz-dance tunes! Very very nice! Outstanding! ! ! Awesome 2D fighter

Persona 4 is solid 2d fighter with some quirky mechanics, the graphics and animation are better than Blazblue Chronophantasma, but not as nice Guilty Xrd on the PS3. This game is region locked, it will not work on a imported system. I have Japanese PS3 and tried this game on it, and gave me a region restriction message when I launched it. Top notch fighting game for veterans and newbies!

This game is fantastic!
The story mode is much more developed than other fighting game stories, even compared to other Aksys games.

The fighting game mechanics are simplified, which I wanted. All of the special moves use quarter circle rolls, which makes it much easier to remember them. There are also a bunch of useful command normals (single button specials). Some people get annoyed that the throws require two buttons at once, but that can be easily remapped to a trigger. There is also a single button auto-combo for each character that allows beginners to do decent damage even just starting out.

The game has a tutorial mode to introduce all of the mechanics and a challenge mode to teach combo mechanics and special features of each character. You can have the computer demonstrate the sequence for you and it gives feedback, showing how far in the sequence you were able to perform correctly. This is all really well done, though some of the advanced challenges may mean going online to find help with them.

The art is absolutely beautiful in keeping with Persona 4 (and Persona 3) which this is based on. Each character has multiple still shots with different facial expressions and body language to fill out the story. The characters from Persona 3 were updated to adjust for a few years of growth and maturity. The characters are all a delight to look at. Meanwhile, the character concepts were all incredibly well developed in the original games and that carries over here. Very nice game to play indivdually and locally, but not online.

The story mode is great for those who haven't experienced P4 or P4 Golden, otherwise it's pretty redundant. The only real new information comes from playing P3 character's stories, Naoto's, or Labrys's.

Getting onto the real tragedy of this game is how unbalanced many of the characters are, Kanji especially. His grab moves do double what other characters are, and someone can simply do that to win the match. Yukiko, spam - fan throwing move. Hard to dodge, because if you miss the first one , the second one usually hits...and sends you flying back. Akihiko, has NO mid to long range abilities, and his pretty much screwed when it comes to long range battles, with his abilities not up to par to close the distance easily. The devs knew this when people questioned them in the forums and would simply reply with "no comment".

The final unfortunate flaw is the community itself. I have never played against so many players that completely exploit the flaws of the characters to make the match unenjoyable. 90% of matches played I dealt with spammers who either A. did the same OP move over and over again the entire match, or B. After I won a round, their sore loser comes out and begin spamming for the 2nd and 3rd round.Lire l'avis complet...

GREAT!!

I loved the RPG version of this game, and needed a versus game to play with friends. Its a great versus game.

The music is great, such as the RPG version. The moves and character design, reemembers me of my time playing the RPG.
