VERY COOL, With a Few Minor Setbacks.

This is a VERY cool handheld. It's relatively
easy to use, and the games (so far), though limited
in release at this time, are lots of fun to play, if
you can handle the 3D style, which I have found out
from some of my friends, is not for everyone. Also, the
field in which you can experience the effect is quite narrow
and only allows for one person at a time to actually see
the 3D, which makes showing it off hard to accomplish. I
do like the ability to take 3D pictures and
the step counter that rewards you for getting out and
walking is cool, too.
I personally LOVED one thing in particular-they brought "Mii"s
to the DS! It's too bad there is no way to make it work on the old ones somehow, but I always loved that aspect of the Wii system.
You can also go to the Nintendo shop and buy some games which you can download through a wireless connection. This is cool. especially since I was able to get nostalgic by playing Super Mario Land, Alleyway, and Zelda (keep the classics coming, guys!). The other titles are okay, but some of the prices for better games are a little steep for a download (from $5 to $14 bucks), even if it IS a more "rare" game. You can also download movie trailers and game previews in 3D, which is pretty neat, but you would most likely want to delete after watching since you don't want to gunk up your SD card.
Another great feature is the improved METAL stylus, which
looks less cheap and performs better than its predecessors.
The price (for now) is pretty steep at $250 with no extras
except a few cheaply designed built-in games. The battery
life could be a little better, too.
Overall, I am not at all disappointed, but it DOES slightly
miss the mark in relatively minor places. I would advise
waiting for it to drop in price in a few months, especially since the 3DS game selection is a bit thin at the moment.

Pretty good system!! Not THE ABSOLUTE BEST, but certainly worth your time.

I enjoy the upgrade from the original Nintendo DS: For example, the integration of apps, better online capabilities, camera/video, the circle pad, and the overall refinement from the original DS. It is truly a great evolution in Nintendo's handheld genre.

The AR games in particular are very intriguing and fun to play. Watching my house in the background, my table, etc. is crazy cool!!

The selection of games are pretty good. There are the standard flagship Nintendo games like Pokemon and Mario, all solid games.

As far as it being the best handheld console?..... Eh, not quite there. The game library could be better and bigger (compared to that of the PSP/PS Vita). The camera is of a very low quality, however it is still impressive for this console. Also, I personally have not been a fan of the graphics for most Nintendo games (also preferring the PSP/PS Vita here).

The biggest thing is, of course, the 3D capabilities. It is initially quite impressive that a handheld device can produce 3D video images without the need of glasses. There are some flaws here, though. It uses the biparallax technology, meaning it takes advantage of the fact that your eyes are far apart, and produces images selective to each eye. This means that you can only hold it a certain way to get the 3D effect. And let's be honest here, 3D technology just looks weird anyway; 3D movies, etc. all look weird.

The battery life is the next biggest issue. It's something like up to 8 hours maximum, with all extraneous capabilities turned off (wireless, 3D, brightness, etc.). It's around 3 hours with all that stuff on. It's not the end of the world. We oftentimes have to keep our wireless technology plugged in anyway. So it's not THAT big of a deal.

Overall, it's a solid upgrade in Nintendo's handheld line. It's built like a beast, and it's pretty cool. 4/5.

BEST PORTABLE GAMING SYSTEM ON THE MARKET

Recently purchased this item as I was looking for a fun portable game system. I had tried the PS Vita, but was left unimpressed.

Positives:

1) The 3DS is pretty much the same size and weight as the DSi.
2) One of the best features of this model is the addition of the analog thumpad which really helps in 3D games.
3) Very bright 3.5" screen
4) Comes with retractable Stylus.
5) Adjustable 3D Effect (Adjust the lens so if you are holding the DS closer/further away from you the picture still will come in clear)
6) 3 Cameras
7) Built-in WiFi

Negatives:

1) Cannot play Gameboy Advance Games.
2) Only About 4 1/2 hours of battery life.
3) Only has 2 GB Storage on SD.
4) Picture quality is average at best.

In addition, the game selection for the Nintendo 3DS is good if you include all the Non-3D games. Pick this portable system up if you are looking for good games with good system functionality.

Fun 3D, Compelling game library, Decent battery life,Superb value.

Amazing product. The 3DS is not some gimmicky device for easily- impressed kids. The titles are tons of fun, controls are easy to use and the overall experience remind you what gaming is supposed to feel like in a smartphone dominated era. The 3D works like a charm, and is quite impressive.

Having to look at the console at a steady angle can prove a little annoying, especially while playing a game like Mario Kart 7, but the visual experience is worth it. It can make your eyes feel tired after about 45 min or so. During which time you can turn the 3D off using the physical 3D level. Knowing Nintendo, I think its safe to say they are going to improve 3D functionality in a future iteration of the 3ds.

Battery life is not like the earlier DS's. You won't be able to play 4 hours, and put it down to be able to pick it up later without a charge. I get about 4 non-consecutive hours on this, 5 if I'm easy on the 3D. While not disappointing in itself, it can be if you are expecting the performance of the non 3d DS.

The design is not as bulky as alot of people contend. If you don't mind the size of the DS Lite, then this is not bulky at all. It's a little thicker on the 3D screen lid, but it's almost negligible. I have the DSi and the DS lite, and side-by-side, these things are almsot indistinguishable.

Fantastic!

I bought this for my eight year old who had been using his older brother's 3DS. It works great, looks brand new, and the Pokémon games are already a hit!

Nice System, with some good free content

Pros:
I bought this system primarily to play Pokemon Omega Ruby (which I'm very happy with). But I was also impressed with the included free content. Perhaps, not surprisingly, I'm really enjoying Pokemon Picross and Pokemon Rumble World, and I picked up a few badges from the Badge arcade for free to decorate my Home Screen. Te screen is vibrant , and the touch screen works perfectly. It seems to have a long battery life when not connected to WiFi, which is especially impressive when playing 3d games. Especially at the used price, I feel I got a great deal :)

Cons:
The 3d is a little wonky. I don't know if its just my eyesight, or the system itself (I know the New 3ds models tweak the 3D a bit) but I find myself getting headaches if I use it too much, and I'm not perfectly still. I tend to play with the 3d low or off. Also, the WiFi seems to require a stronger signal to avoid disconnecting. I have trouble with the signal dropping in places where my phone/laptop have no issues. But if I get closer to the router, I'm fine. Not a huge deal io, but something to consider if you need to be connected to wifi and have a weak signal.

Don't hesitate to buy one unless you can find a DSi for dirt cheap.

I wanted an upgrade from my DS Lite. Didn't want to get the DSi since it was basically a cosmetic upgrade so went for the 3DS (on sale!).

Very pleased with the product. Good build quality. Has many new features that will come in handy if I ever need them (front facing camera etc). Game selection is great as expected from a Nintendo product.Lire l'avis complet...

The 3DS better than you could have ever imagined it!

Let me just say to everyone, when I first heard about this system, and saw the price tag, I was quick to dismiss it as a silly gimmick. But let me say, when I caved in and bought this system, I was so exceedingly impressed with it I bought more for the other members of my family. It is addictive, gorgeous, fun, easy to pick up and play even without software titles thanks to eshop and pre-installed titles as well as the AR cards. You haven't played a game until you have seen a dragon erupt from your couch cushion and are asked to slay it.
Admittedly after playing for long stretches of time, it does start to make your eyes feel tired, but that is easily fixed by turning off or down the 3D effect when you start to notice a strain. The only complaint I have about the system is that unless you are looking head on frontwards at the screen the 3D effect is either lost or blurred beyond recognition, which is a bit annoying since I like to play my handheld systems in bed, or on a vehicle trip, and keeping it steady about 12-14 inches in front of you straight on can be challenging, as well as fatiguing on your arms and wrists. The change in the locations of buttons take a bit of getting used to, but I think they put things in good spots.
I would like to see some other classics redone in 3D, as well as a new Pokemon game, which I can't find on the release roster. I would also like to see a 3DS XL because I really like the bigger screens. Oh and a word to the wise, do not perform a full system transfer from your DSi XL to your 3DS do it custom piece by piece because the Brain Age games cannot be transferred which is stupid I think, but I don;t make the rules. I don't like that Nintendo is now charging tax on eshop purchases based on your location, since they have done away with Nintendo points. This does however leave you with VERY awkward amounts of money on your account. I would like picto chat and flipnote studios to be released for free on it, but they still have time to do that, I just hope it's sooner rather than later, since you can't copy over flipnote studio either.
Honestly though, no one in my household has been able to put these things down, they are gorgeous and so unique, and you've just never seen anything like it until you've played it. I recommend Raving Rabbids (side scrolling with depth, really addictive and fun) Zelda OoT 3D (cause, well its Zelda)and if you have wanted a dog or cat but can't or don't want to pay for it, get Nintendogs and Cats it's not much different than the original Nintendogs, but its cuter and more realistic looking. Another good pick are the Lego games, they are just so cool to look at in 3 dimensional space. And the built in pedometer is awesome (just wish there weren't a limit of 10 play coins to be earned per day) Buy this one folks, you won't regret it!

Amazing Device

I'm new to the 3DS party, but I'm glad I finally made it. This may be the most amazing little handheld gaming device I have ever had. The tech that's loaded into this little compact device is mind blowing. Highly recommend. Oh... and the games are amazing as well! Lire l'avis complet...
