Pentax W80 12.1 Megapixel
The camera has new ideas in design such as cold weather, under water to use and easy to use, and so on so that it is the best fit camera for New England
area that I thought. Because I had problem with Fuji S2 camera some years ago
and repare cost was as much as used S2.
Pentax is very reliable company because I have owned 6x7 camera for over 15 years and I own 645 cameras and lenses, too.
I was waited for a great deal then it appeared in eBay.
I glabed it instantly. It is working very fine and showing good pictures.
However, it is a bit noisy in dark area shooting but I have software to improve it. It is a small camera always staying in my car. I love this tough camera and I am thinking of new shooting application to try.Lire l'avis complet...
W80 - Great value for the price.
I bought this camera to take with me on backpacking trips. I recently returned from a weeklong trip in the Smokies. The W80 did a pretty good job, taking very nice pictures and surviving a few bumps and knocks along the way. For what it is, it is a very nice value. Don't expect SLR-quality photos, but it will take very acceptable snapshots to remember your trip by, and playing around with the different modes will help you get a better picture. Turning the "landscape" mode on dramatically improved the color quality of my pictures on the trip, while I found the Auto mode's colors to be rather flat. The panorama mode was a very nice feature that I used a lot more than I thought I would, and the macro mode actually works quite well, provided there is enough light. A small tripod would help for night shots in general with this camera, but it does fairly well as it is.
All in all, a very decent camera with a tough shell that can take the accidental abuse of outdoor activity. I'm pleased with it.Lire l'avis complet...
Great camera for the average outdoorsy person. A+++++++
The camera is great. It is light and compact and best of all waterproof and SAND PROOF... If you adjust the settings as you'd like them the ideal picture should come out... the camera also has tons of awsome features such as the ability to take panoramic pictures and video with audio under water. I love my Optio W80!!
I love this camera! I previously had a Pentax Optio W60 that I brought with me to St. Lucia. I lent it to a friend and it got some water in it somehow when he was using it. I'm assuming the seal for the battery and SD card cover had some sand or something in it to allow water in. The fact that even after water got in it and the screen acts up, it still works!! I bought this because of the ruggedness of these W-series cameras!
Alot of people complain of the grainy pictures in darker areas. It's a waterproof camera. After playing with the ISO sensitivity settings, I found that on the lowest ISO sensitivity level, it takes the best low light pictures.
The video is awesome out of water and underwater. The battery life is kinda short if taking alot of flashed pictures, but it does good for what I use it for.
I know the Macro isn't very important, but it does a 1cm macro that will make lincoln's head on a penny fill up the screen crystal clear!!
I just wish it could focus and snap a picture a little faster, but like I said, It's an underwater camera!Lire l'avis complet...
Pentax Opto W80
I would give a grade of between Good & Excellent. It is GOOD in terms of its compact design, plenty of features(e.g. excellent 1 cm macro), solid rugged built and price & EXCELLENT for its underwater features. I kept the ISO range between 64-100 in order to avoid excessive noise. Another thing I have not resolved is the movie recording time. It stopped at about 1 min even though I had a 16MB SDHC in it. Easy Cam! Pentax Optio W80
This is a revised review. Just to clear things up, I do like the camera, it has many neat features, and is fairly simple to use. I am impressed with it's size and love the fact that it is waterproof! However there is one bad thing with "ALL 3" Pentax Optio W80 Digital Cameras that I have had so far. All 3 cameras have had faulty image sensors, therefore the photos are all discolored. Half of the photo turns out good, and the other half of the photo had discoloration making the photos non-salvageable. Please note, not all photos are effected by this. Approximately 70% of the pictures that are taken, are effected by the image sensor, and you cannot see the discolored pictures until you review them on your computer.Lire l'avis complet...
Pentax Optio W80 digital pocket camera
Excellent quality picture taking in a very small camera. Is built to be carried easily, used outdoors. Drop proof, waterproof, freeze proof, dust proof. 5x zoom does a nice job pulling in wildlife images at good distances. Easy to set up and use. Bought it because of my work in putting wildlife habitat powerpoint program together for hunter education students. Zoom is exceptionally good feature in this camera. Pentax W80 is great when I'm riding my motorcycle
I had an earlier Pentax water proof camera for several years and lost it on a scalloping trip in Cedar Key. I had a key float attached and it floated out of my pocket. I read a number of reviews about waterproof cameras and decided to go back with the Pentax again. This camera locks better and has more megapixels than my other one. It is easy to use and slips in and out of my pocket. I enjoy motorcycle riding and occasionally see something I want to photograph. The Pentax is great for that. Great little camera, easy to use, so far so good
It's light weight but feels solid. USB connection is stored inside with battery and memory card to protect it from dirt and water. Large viewing screen, high res pictures with 12mp. Easy to use, has a small grip bump on front that makes it easy to grip with the finger tips while shooting. Way to go Pentax...keeping up with the times.Lire l'avis complet...
Super great camera
Love the quality of this camera! It is packed with cool features, too many to list, have not tried it under water yet, but the above water picture have come out stunning!! What can you say more than the name Pentax says for itself. They are known for their quality lenses and this one lives up to the family name. I have wanted an underwater camera ever since I saw the movie Northshore, and have wanted to take action pictures of my nephews surfing, can't wait to get down to SoCal and fulfill my dream.Lire l'avis complet...
